You not wrong about any of this lol. Moving here was the best decision I’ve made though.

New Orleans is a little over 5 hours away. March can still get pretty cold. The weather can be very unpredictable. Traffic omg we have never had soooo much traffic! There are many expats here now. I can remember a time driving down 59 and it was completely empty! Rental prices are beginning to look like LA, so are home prices just as you said unless you go far out or outskirts of Houston like Richmond, Tx or somewhere North. The Galleria, we used to go every single week back in the day. It exuded high end clientele and experience.
People were well dressed, if you wanted to see fashion and style that was the place. We managed to acquire invitation only Cadillac fashion shows in the galleria and it was amazing with a feel of NY. This year the Galleria has been outed for bold robberies, twerking and cheap inappropriate outfits, pit bulls, etc. After I saw the Facebook post and the news I said NEVER again. They would have never allowed this back then and when I say back them I’m talking late 90s early 2000s. There are still a few areas of the Galleria that hasn’t been fully tainted 😊. The heights used to be a very unique area with eclectic boutiques and shops as well as the way the homes were structured. Now it is extremely expensive, tons of 3 story condos, though still nice, it doesn’t have the unique touch anymore. The area has completely changed. Downtown, I live in the heart of downtown. I can remember going to BEAUTIFUL nightclubs, one of them was absolutely GORGEOUS long sheer white curtains everywhere, super high ceilings, white candles and gorgeous doormen. When you walked in it was like walking into a fantasy, beautiful flowing gowns, suits and loft music. There was also the Mercury room, the staircase reminded me of the titanic. It was a nice club. Downtown was just starting to revive and there weren’t many lofts or high rises, actually they were just starting to renovate. Soooo many stores have shutdown as well. I am beginning to see new establishments pop up. I love living in the city, It is secured where I live but just as you stated, you must be mindful and alert everywhere. Crime has increased in all areas here. So much has changed. Welcome to Houston and nice to hear that you are enjoying the city.

Yess girl.. it’s definitely hard to find a job here since a lot of us expats are moving down here and there’s so much competition
