As a gay guy living in a Christian/conservative home (and school and church) yeah that line really speaks to me. Granted, the entire song, especially with Evynne's context, is one of my faves because when I come out I'll become all outcast.
Daniel Wells I can't begin to imagine what coming out is like, and the fear you must be feeling. And I don't know you, or your situation, so I have no idea what it'll be like. But just know there are so many of us, all over the world, that are 100% behind you, the whole way through. Sending all my love.
Daniel Wells same here it makes me think about my faith but I learn that the only one that can judge that gay is wrong is god himself not people and if gay is wrong than god would of done something but he didn't and that saying that god did not made a mistake god gave us the gift of love and he don't care how we use it. it dose not matter if its two men or two women as long as were using gods give of love and not wasting it than I think he will be Happy 😊
I'd say "Get a room" like my kids do... but you're married with a house so.... you've got one!! LOL!! You guys are a cute couple, I love watching both your videos. Can I buy your stuff on Amazon? OR could you do a short video explaining how to use this spottery program? I've never used it, and my wife and I are technological troglodytes.
As an openly gay man, I want to thank you for this amazing tribute. I lost a friend in the Pulse attack and this brought me to tears from the first second. You and your husband are absolutely amazing people
I am an openly opened bisexual female. I came out to my parents years ago and i felt alone ever since knowing my parents don't believe me. We gotta stick up for everyone.
Openly bisexual my mom and dad ain’t to happy with it but they don’t make me feel any different then my brothers who are straight even though I know I disappointed them by being into guys and girls
Oh my goodness, such a perfect song, sung so beautifully. It's always brought a tear to my eye - but this version, in this context - I'm sobbing. "I thought we all were the children of God." So did I.
Julz XD mine the same... it gives me goosebumps... now Christ and the Virgin are in the glory of the highest... but once both were just like us... May God bless us everyone... he loves us... Virgin Mary is our Mother and we all are the children of God... she loves us all ♥️😭
Just hearing the piano intro gave me chills and started my crying spree. Disney is my childhood and I still love it, Hunchback was one of my favorites and no one seemed to think Esmeralda was a princess or knew this song. I am so grateful there are people like you out there using a song many do know for a cause. When this tragedy happened, I thought of the lyric "I thought we were all children of God".
Absolutely moving- I'm in tears. Sharing with my girlfriend immediately. Thank you so much for being there and supporting our community in these hard times.
Evynne Hollens, you are an angel and you use God's gift to you with the kindest heart I have seen in years. I've always love listening to you and your husband; this particular song hits me in the heart as it has always been one of my favorites and I've always sang it to myself for this exact reason. I am a gay man and raised as a Christian. You have given me goosebumps and I am crying. Thank you so very much. You are a blessing. Love and Light to you and yours, Andrew "Eyngl" (Angel)
This is such an incredible reminder that God calls us to love EVERYONE. Jesus spent most of his time on earth with the outcasts. Thank you for such a powerful message!! ❤❤
I know it's been a year since you posted this, but I grew up being the only out person I knew. And even then it was heavily discouraged by my family. I'm only now allowing myself time to grieve such a loss in my community, since it's just hitting me now how much danger we are all in. So here I am, sitting in a puddle of my own tears, glad there are people who will continue to help us when no one else will. Thank you
God is LOVE. He would not abandon his children, no matter how different they are from how he intended them to be. I'm a catholic, but I don't approve those religious ones who calls Gay people to be "Freaks". And Evynne has shown that with all her heart to us!
Raven Death Knight nobody is a freak, no matter who you are, I'm a Christian and I'd never label anyone as an outcast. I might not agree with everything they do, but it's our duty to love everyone as God said ❤
Am I the only one who cried? But seriously, you have a beautiful voice and this is one of my favourite Disney songs. Amazing job 💕 and I wish the best for all those who lost loved ones in the terrible and unfortunate shooting that recently took place in Orlando. May those lost to us rest in peace and never be forgotten.
I'm speechless. This was beautiful. I've shed a tear. Every time I hear this song, I'm crying. But this version is by far the best I've heard. Thank you, Evynne, Nathan and Merlin. So many hate, war and killing. Why can't we all love each other and live in peace? This is not only for Orlando. This is for everyone anywhere in the world where there is need for love and peace.
God bless and thank you for sharing your love and prayer for all outcasts. I am an "outcast" due to debilitating life threatening illness (severe Crohn's with CPS.) As a shut-in for most of the last 4 years of my life I relate so much to this song. I will be singing it for a smule contest on Sing! This week and you inspired me. And made me cry. Praying we all have a safer and more peaceful 2017.
Thank you so much for adding your voice of love and prayers to the unfortunately on going struggle that we in LGBT community continue to go through Evynne. I remember when I was struggling with my own sexuality as a teen way back when and I would play this very song trying to understand way people felt this way about us. It gave me a great deal of comfort growing up. I know some people are viewing the choice in a negative light but I look at the fact that we as a people are still struggling to have equal rights within our own country to not fear what will happen to us if we walk down the street holding our partner's hand. Get jobs, housing, eve get service in some places. There are so many parallels to the prejudices of those of the gypsies that were coined as the "outcasts" for the movie in which it comes form, that I can't see any reason to take offense to it. The same as those proud amazing people that were thought of as "outcast" by some were the heroes after all.
Evynne, I am beyond touched by this. it is hard to understand why bad things happen to good people, but if we believe hard enough, something good can always come out of it. it doesn't always come when we ask, but all we have to do is be patient and give what we can to others. We have to remember that God loves us and will always be there when we need Him. God bless you, your family and Orlando. 💗😇👼
okay ... before the video I was like "okay Zoe, get ready, each time she sings a sad song you literally cry, be strong" and .... I cried. Your voice is so beautiful, I am very touched when you sing!
This is a perfect song to express the sadness from this worlds loss due to hate. God help the outcasts indeed. Love not Hate! Thank you so much Evynne! Simply moving and perfect!
I am trembling in bed, shaken by the power of this song. Thanks for singing it so wonderfully, I hope more people can be touched and affected by this amazing song. We need more love in this world instead of the hatred.
Love is love, it's a simple and as hard as that. Every person deserves the right to love whom they want without fear of persecution from their peers. If we'd only take one small moment to realize that simple right then the world would be that much better. Evy you did an absolutely wonderful job on this song , it perfectly fits with what happened.
I'm an atheist, a freethinker, a scientific skeptic and critic of ALL religions but i love this song. BRAVO EVYNNE. BRAVO. For all the souls who have depart this world too soon we don't forget you. LIFE, HAPPINESS AND FREEDOM. RIP.
You are one of the few artists on this planet who touch everybody's heart just by singing a few lines in a beautiful voice. Thank you so much for your engagement for Orlando. You're truly beautiful, inside and outside
Being that this tragedy struck my hometown and not far from where my family lives, thank you for the beautiful song! It has been amazing seeing how Orlando has rallied from all this. We are #Orlandostrong and always will be! Thank you again and I will definitely be sharing this!
I lost four friends to this tragedy at Pulse. Thank you Evelyn and your husband Peter. You both spread love and understanding with music and it brings me and many others comfort and peace we wouldn't know otherwise. Thank you for standing with them all and letting their prayers, my prayers be heard in your song.
The world has been cruel, and awful lately, but inside all of that darkness and hatred, there's a tiny little light. A little that gives us all hope, and faith, that things will start to get better, and Evynne Hollens, you started the light. Thank you. You give me hope that things will get better 😘❤️😊
I was legitimately about to record this as a sort of memorial, the best way I knew how. I'm so glad I waited, I couldn't have done it as much justice as you have. My community has been greatly affected by this, and it means a lot to see all of the support from our role models in these times. Thank you, and bless your soul forever ❤️💛💚💙💜
I finally got around to watching this.... I live in Dallas. Several of my friends went to church with one of the cops who died. Two weeks later, and our flags still fly at half-mast. I don't think there's a soul here who wasn't affected by the recent tragedy here. So thank you. This made me really emotional. I love you and all you do. Please keep it up, and may God bless you.
As a lesbian whose brother had Asperger's Syndrome, CP, and Tourette's Syndrome, this song hits home on so many levels. it makes me think of the tears I would cry because our mom and dad didn't accept my sexuality, and the teasing and bullying my late brother endured when he was in school.
I listened to this for the first time ever today in English class and just bawled my eyes out, god bless all us who are outcasts no matter what the reasons and God bless you Evynne for your beautiful work and life
This was so beautiful and powerful. Unlike what many think, God never wanted this to happen. We ARE all children of God. The bible does say that homosexuality is wrong, but so is murder and stealing, and Jesus forgave a murderer and a thief, as well as an adulteress, a pedophile, and more. He treated them all as everyone else. So, yes, the bible does say all of these these things are wrong, but that doesn't mean he loves any of them any less than his other children. He loves us all equally. He is our Father, and a father can never pick a favorite child, so why should God? This was all work of hate, evil, fear, and corruption, and God is none of those things, so who do you think was the one who did this? Not God, that's for sure. RIP to those who have fallen. You and your families are in my prayers. I love you, Evynne. You and Peter are such amazing and sweet people. Thank you for this beautiful song, especially at a time like this.
I always start to cry when this song starts but this time.. I'm just breathless, sitting here and I don't know what to say. Thank you for this wonderful interpretation and this message. Love is stronger.
I have not cried this much for a long time until I saw this video. This is on my Spotify playlist and I cry every time I hear it. Even though I'm British, I still spare thoughts for those affected by violence, whether it's in my home country or anywhere else in the world.
this is the kind of song to show that Christian themes in movies can be relatable. I respect a lot of religions but this song can be interpreted as questioning life
Zachary Vargas I completely agree! Religious and non-religious people alike can appreciate that honestly, it's just a really powerful moment. It's similar to how people can enjoy things such as The Prince of Egypt even with how religious it is, if it's actually good it can reach a wide audience and make something that can be enjoyed by all.
this cover got me and a close friend of mine though a tough time. for me this got me back into music when it comes to singing and playing piano and a couple days ago i was playing it for one of my friends and he had been going through depression since the Orlando shooting happened and after i played it he just Hugged me crying because his cousin died in the Orlando shooting. - so just thank you for helping me and a good friend of mine though a really tough time by simply making this cover and by being amazing i love both you and peters covers stay awesome you guys and weather you guys know it or not your music and covers matter and they touch the hearts of a lot of people me included
I love the message, but having an ad on this video kinda ruins the message. You're profiting on tragedy, I wholeheartedly believe that wasn't your intention but that's just how it is. However it's an amazing video and you have the voice of an angel.
The Minecraft Avatar If the rights aren't owned by the creator of the video (so in this case, this Disney song's rights aren't owned by Evynne), the holder of the right can choose to put ads on the video, without the creator's permission or discretion. So Evynne might not have chosen to monetize this video.
The Minecraft Avatar i know im late but I just want to say she has to make a living just like you and I, that's why there are ads on the video. I don't think it was profiting off of the tragedy at all, she's just trying to pay the bills. That's all.
Beautiful rendition. I know you mean well, but the term "outcast" toward the victims in Orlando really offends me. While I listened to the lyrics and know the intention is to say outcasts are part of God's children too, outcast's meaning denotes something other than us. The victims are us. Not somebody to feel pity for, but outrage that they were taken away too soon. I would never want somebody to call me an outcast. It's so negative and without any pride. Perhaps I'm wrong, and please correct me, but I doubt that too many homosexuals would want to be call an outcast.
"Outcasts" refers to how people of the LGBTA+ community are often treated in comparison to cis/hetero people. In the original context of the song/movie, it was referring to how Gypsies were treated by France and England, as they were ostracized, imprisoned, and/or killed for being what they were. The song is from the perspective of an "outcast" reaching out to God and saying, "I thought we were all made in your image...so why are we treated so differently by those that claim to represent you?" In the context of this song, she is calling out to God to help these people because of how they are often outcast from society from being "wrong" or "amoral". Please take a moment to consider the context before immediately leaping onto the "I'm offended" wagon.
+WarChant dA I totally get context. I live around a strong LGBTA community. I'm not trying to be a nasty troll. I know this song was meant with love, but I want to make point that while well-meaning, it has a tinge of sanctimony.
Laurie Peacock I didn't think you were trying to be a troll, but people are so quick to sling around the "I'm offended" phrase over every little thing nowadays that's it's practically lost it's meaning. This song and the way she sung it is hardly sanctimonious. As a member of the LGBTA+ community, I have felt like an outcast all my life (primarily by my Southern Methodist family), and this song has always struck a chord within me. I think it echoes how many of us who have been ostracized by our families and communities feel.
I can tell you, from a gay mans point to f view, the only time I've ever not felt like an outcast was when things like last years judicial vote happened. Historically, and recently, LGBT+ people have been outcasts. She never meant harm I'm sure, as I'm sure you didn't. I wish you both all of the love in the universe, and thank you. ❤️💛💚💙💜
+Laurie Peacock +WarChant dA I would not use the term "sanctimonious" since Evynne's rendition of this song seems truely heartfelt and is beautifully sung, but nevertheless, it carries a patronizing tone. There are two aspects I would like to address: 1.) Being gay or gay-supportive is nothing you should be pitied for. I am gay and living in Germany and I luckily never felt like an outcast or even slightly rejected by my family (all devoted catholic christians btw.), friends, colleagues etc. So I can only imagine what you had to endure until now. And I can pitty you for this. But I refuse to pity you for being gay. It would be the same as pittying you for having dark hair or blue eyes. 2.) You can and you should pity the victims and their relatives and friends, but you should do this because they were affected by this horrendous crime. Calling these people "outcasts" for being murdered by a mad man or having lost a close friend or relative is offending. So I can totally relate to Laurie's Statement.
My whole world has just been shaken by this in the best way possible. I just have 500 things going through my mind right now and not enough room to get all of them, just thank you for doing this song.
Evynne, such a beautiful memorial to the Orlando Victims. This song had been playing through my mind all week and then you released this video. It brought tears to my eyes. ❤️
One of my all time favorite disney songs. Beautiful tribute to a horrific event. I've found myself re-watching this throughout the numerous tragedies of this past week.
Thank you so much for this video Evynne! I've been an outcast for all my life and never felt included in almost anything. I never knew this song existed and am glad it does. So many people feel left out in the world and would find true belonging by seeing that some do care even if they don't know you or you can't see it yourself. As always you have a beautiful voice and you will inspire me always. Say hi to Ashland for me and tell how he is if you can.
This is a touching prayer for the victims of Orlando and with one of my favorite Disney songs from Hunchback Notre Dame. I absolutely am in love with this and Evynne, you have done an exceptional job.
God gifted so many. Beutiful song that God created his people to write and sing to inspire others. Absolutely beautiful. I cry everytime. Powereful message, powerful pray through beautiful music. 💕🙏💕😘😭
I was one of those who requested that you cover this song -- specifically, on your video of "Reflection". I have to say how beautiful and touching this rendition is. I learned a couple of days after the Orlando tragedy that my baby sister was planning to go to Pulse that night with some friends (one of her friends used to work there so they thought they'd all go and hang out) but changed her mind because she didn't take a change of clothes with her to work and it would have taken too much time for her to go home, so they decided they'd go there the following week. While I consider us all amazingly blessed and lucky that circumstances for her happened as they did, the after-effect of dealing with knowing how close we'd come to possibly losing her was (and is) terrifying. I avoided the internet because I simply couldn't deal with anything relating to the Pulse tragedy. It immediately put visions of my baby sister being violently killed in my head, despite the fact that she was safe and remains unharmed. Having only come back online to check emails and video subscriptions -- because I knew they wouldn't spark such thoughts -- I was happy to see you'd done this song. My family and I are still coping with the shock and fear, but this helps so much. Seeing and hearing you perform this is amazing. Music is the voice of the soul. Sometimes we're lucky enough to inherit songwriters and composers who have a true gift for expression. When a singer captures that emotion, and can pass it along to others, it's incredible to experience. Thank you for this.
Juli, Thank you so much for your comments and I am so happy that your sister was not at Pulse that evening. I know how terrifying this must be for her and your family. Take care.
"You made the outcasts, don't cast them out"
That part hit home.
As a gay guy living in a Christian/conservative home (and school and church) yeah that line really speaks to me. Granted, the entire song, especially with Evynne's context, is one of my faves because when I come out I'll become all outcast.

This is my favorite part of the movie
I agree with you Peter!
I'm not religious, and never have been;
but I'll be damned if this isn't powerful.
Thanks so much.
Same
You don't need to be religious to find this powerful. You just need to be human...
"I hope it touched you," Evynne says, as I sit here in a small puddle of my own tears.
I think somebody must be cutting onions in here. *looks around accusingly*
+jessica prescott haha lol
i agree
over a year later and I'm still in a puddle when this comes up on my playlists

The most meaningful Disney song ever. And you sang it beautifully. Thank you for that.
What about "Hey ho, hey ho it's off to work we go"?
+staygulf83 Oh, I love that one!
Thank you so much Vivian.
Oh my goodness, such a perfect song, sung so beautifully. It's always brought a tear to my eye - but this version, in this context - I'm sobbing.

Oh my goodness, immediate goosebumps. What a beautiful tribute, you have such a wonderful voice
Thank you Katy.
You are one of the few artists on this planet who touch everybody's heart just by singing a few lines in a beautiful voice.
Thank you so much for your engagement for Orlando. You're truly beautiful, inside and outside
Thank you so much. I appreciate it.
This was beautiful, I also love how you included Lins quote from the Tonys.
Thanks Hannah.
Being that this tragedy struck my hometown and not far from where my family lives, thank you for the beautiful song! It has been amazing seeing how Orlando has rallied from all this. We are #Orlandostrong and always will be! Thank you again and I will definitely be sharing this!
Thanks so much Allison.
this is so amazing
Beautiful. I love this song. It's one of my favorites.
Thank you Noah. Glad you enjoyed it.
You're welcome.
Thanks, thanks Evynne!
By a follower with the "fault" to love men.
Thank you. I appreciate it.
YES! I wanted this song covered so much, its such a beautiful song and a beautiful cover
Oh Thank You I'm so glad you liked it!
The world has been cruel, and awful lately, but inside all of that darkness and hatred, there's a tiny little light. A little that gives us all hope, and faith, that things will start to get better, and Evynne Hollens, you started the light. Thank you. You give me hope that things will get better 😘❤️😊
Thank you so much. We all need a little light.
Incredibly beautiful~!
So glad you like it. Thank you.
+Evynne Hollens You are welcome and thank you.
I was legitimately about to record this as a sort of memorial, the best way I knew how. I'm so glad I waited, I couldn't have done it as much justice as you have. My community has been greatly affected by this, and it means a lot to see all of the support from our role models in these times. Thank you, and bless your soul forever
❤️💛💚💙💜
Thank you so much William. I'm so glad it was meaningful for you. Take Care.
It's weird that sometimes a song has a different meaning after a horrible event
So true. Thank you.
Just bought it on iTunes and haven't stopped listening to it for a good hour while weeping like a child... Thank you for your gift
Thank you so much Rebecca. Glad it was meaningful for you.
And then the Lin-Manuel Miranda quote made this perfect!
Thank you J
@@EvynneHollens wait whats the quote
I finally got around to watching this....
I live in Dallas. Several of my friends went to church with one of the cops who died. Two weeks later, and our flags still fly at half-mast. I don't think there's a soul here who wasn't affected by the recent tragedy here.
So thank you. This made me really emotional. I love you and all you do. Please keep it up, and may God bless you.
Thank you so much. I appreciate your comments and support.
This was so beautiful Evynne!
Thank you.
I loved this. This had me in tears the whole time. I agree with love is love. Love knows no gender.
This song with the message... so amazing!! ❤️💛💚💙💜
Thanks Liza.
omg. this made me cry. I was so moved by this song that i shared it. LOVE.
Thank you Kendra and thanks for sharing.
***** Peter's work is amazing as well. Always happy to share you and your husbands amazing work.
Thank you Emily Ann.
Amen!
Couldn't have said it better myself
Thank you for putting into words what I scramble to explain to people.
Amen
I always start to cry when this song starts but this time.. I'm just breathless, sitting here and I don't know what to say. Thank you for this wonderful interpretation and this message. Love is stronger.
Yes it is! Thank you Sharis.
Honestly this is the first song I thought of after Orlando
Me too Parker.
Can you please do a cover of No one is alone from into the woods
Thanks for the suggestion.
-
so just thank you for helping me and a good friend of mine though a really tough time by simply making this cover and by being amazing i love both you and peters covers stay awesome you guys and weather you guys know it or not your music and covers matter and they touch the hearts of a lot of people me included
Oh wow, thank you for sharing this. I will be thinking of your friend and sending healing thoughts!
This is better than the original
I'm always happy to see this film being recognized! One of the very best.
Thanks Nathan.
I love the message, but having an ad on this video kinda ruins the message. You're profiting on tragedy, I wholeheartedly believe that wasn't your intention but that's just how it is. However it's an amazing video and you have the voice of an angel.
She doesn't get to decide if there is an ad or not. UA-cam controls those.
Yeah she does...thats how ads work. You get to decide to monetize your own video or not.
That's all.
I cried when I saw the video title and cried the whole way through. Thank you Evynne for being a shining light in this time of darkness.
Thank you for your comments Maggie.
The song is from the perspective of an "outcast" reaching out to God and saying, "I thought we were all made in your image...so why are we treated so differently by those that claim to represent you?"
In the context of this song, she is calling out to God to help these people because of how they are often outcast from society from being "wrong" or "amoral".
❤️💛💚💙💜
+Laurie Peacock +WarChant dA
I would not use the term "sanctimonious" since Evynne's rendition of this song seems truely heartfelt and is beautifully sung, but nevertheless, it carries a patronizing tone.
There are two aspects I would like to address:
1.) Being gay or gay-supportive is nothing you should be pitied for.
So beautiful. And so meaningful. Definitely what this world needs more of right now is love.
Absolutely. Thank you Leah.
My whole world has just been shaken by this in the best way possible. I just have 500 things going through my mind right now and not enough room to get all of them, just thank you for doing this song.
Thank you!
thank you for everything even for taking time just to reply to my comments
this was beautiful it was so hard not to cry
Thanks so much Josie.
Evynne, such a beautiful memorial to the Orlando Victims. This song had been playing through my mind all week and then you released this video. It brought tears to my eyes. ❤️
Thank you Lori. I appreciate it.
I literally teared up before the song even started.
that was very beautiful movie!!!!!!
Thank you so much.
♡
Oh, man. I'm going to cry. I love this song from Hunchback of Notre Dame. Most of the songs speak to us on so many levels.
One of my all time favorite disney songs. Beautiful tribute to a horrific event. I've found myself re-watching this throughout the numerous tragedies of this past week.
Thanks Cloe.
+Evynne Hollens you had me in tears - this song was MADE for you xxx
Thank you Ronan.
That is a beautiful song. We need more love in this world.
Thank you for your comments. I truly appreciate hearing from you. Ashland is a wonderful little 2 year old. Thanks for asking.
Super LOVE...one of Disney's most memorable tunes.
Thanks Randy. Glad you liked it.
I actually can't stop listening to this song I heart the hollens family for all the amazing vocal talent they share
Thanks so much Trisha. We appreciate it.
Never has a song spoke more to a situation than this. Thank you so much for this beautiful prayer.
SO glad you liked it. Thank you.
This is a touching prayer for the victims of Orlando and with one of my favorite Disney songs from Hunchback Notre Dame. I absolutely am in love with this and Evynne, you have done an exceptional job.
Thank you so much Brittany. I appreciate it.
God gifted so many. Beutiful song that God created his people to write and sing to inspire others. Absolutely beautiful. I cry everytime. Powereful message, powerful pray through beautiful music. 💕🙏💕😘😭
"Though my father and mother forsake me, the Lord will take me in."
God can't, won't, doesn't hate what They made good. And you are very, very good.
Take care.
