Hills Department Store was a huge part of my childhood, nothing but great memories. I would always buy a giant warm pretzel when I first walked in. Hills is where I bought the majority of my GI Joes and Ninja Turtles toys as a kid. Your mention of that glorious store made me nostalgic.
the fun thing in the 80s was random arcade machines in random stores, I was in a sears once and in the back they had a star trek captains chair arcade machine, I had never seen it before or since
I didn't even grow up with or hear about this show until a few months ago from another channel but there's something so comforting and relaxing about these videos and this dude , super chill, no drama, no politics like modern gaming. Thanks for uploading these!
Hills ripped. I remember the Christmas catalog being awesome. Better than Ames, IMO. No Zayres where I grew up. Service Merchandise was pretty great too.
Me: A new Atari 2600 video from CGR?? YES!. Also Me: Volume 1 so that means there's more coming?? YESSSS!!! Also Also Me: IT'S A FKN HOUR AND 20 MINUTES LONG??? YAAAAAAASSSSSSSS!!!!!
Great video. I enjoyed the best game consoles review video as well. If you do one of these about Sega Genesis game you have to be sure to include Zero Tolerance. That was a great game. I have great memories of that game, an old friend of mine and I played it all night once and got to the sub levels of an apartment building and almost beat it but was killed lol.
Haha.. I just bought my brother the Atari 50th Anniversary collection on PS5 for Christmas 🎄 Now I'll finally be able to play Ninja Golf. Thank You CGR....EDF EDF !!!!
The first time I ever got to play an NES, the two games my neighbor had was Super Mario and Xenophobe. I guess I'm weird, but I loved Xenophobe and wasn't impressed at all with Mario. Later, I borrowed it for my 7800, still thought it was pretty fun, but it was when I picked up the Lynx version that I was truly in love. Sadly, that was one of the games I lost in a dorm room burglary. I heard rumors that the Atari 8-bit (as in computer) is better than the NES or 7800 version, so I'm waiting on that to arrive in the mail. So I've got a long history with Xenophobe. But one version I never even saw was the arcade.
32:30 I've never heard of MotoRodeo. I bet I would have liked this game quite a bit. 1990 is awfully late for the 2600. It looks more like cows sliding down a mountain on a black plastic trashcan lid than a monster truck though.
TECH NIC CALI What you have there is not a 2600. It is an Atari VCS. It didn't get a number until the 5200 was released. We had one when it was originally released. I was a teenager. Ah, the days gone by.
Hearing both of those classic intro's had me smiling ear to ear.
My goodness, so glad Mark is back! The presence, the power, the theme music. Bigger and badder than ever!! It brings tears of joy in my eyes! 👊🏼😎

Man, I love the personality of the older CGR music and review style.
Absolutely incredible.

Much love for their snack bar!
My local Hills had some great arcade machines. Like Robocop and Ninja Turtles!
This used to be one of the biggest gaming channels on UA-cam. Very nostalgic.

I've been looking for this channel. Could not remember the name.
Yes, I used to have an Atari 2600 on game room on the Xbox 360
I had Fathom, but for the Colecovision. That version was definitely amazing.
I picked up the VCS version about two years ago. I couldn't make heads or tails of it. After watching this video, I'll have to give it another try.

I miss Hills. Hills was my favorite store until it's demise in 1999. I also miss Kmart, Woolworth, KayBee Toys, Children's Palace, and Camelot Music.
Hills was the best!
@@earlthepearl6414 Heck, Yeah!
Never heard of Hills. I'm from the Midwest. We didn't get a lot of stores in the 80s and 90s.
All classic 80’s mall spots
Kay Bee was pretty great - especially during the early/mid 80’s!
Man Ive been looking for your videos for some time I mis that squirl intro
Yar’s revenge is up there!
Fathom looks excellent on the 2600
Hills, Zayre, Ames, but you left our Venture. All those stores were great in their own right.
I wonder if any of the Japanese game devs ever made a game where you catch the dolphins... The delicious dolphins.
Sega vids collection gimme gimme gimme!
