I think the condition of that gar confirms what I suspected. Between the gars and turtles, you aren't catching any catfish because your bait is being eaten before they come along and find it. I noticed that most of the hooks that were on both lines were bare. If you can get ahold of Danny Kings punchbait I'm told that catfish love it but turtles don't. It is sold at bot WalMarts as well as Dick's Sporting goods

What eats a gar, I destroyed a really good knife on one. Those scales are like armor, they can dent and chip good quality steel. 😢🤔🤓🍻

@@robertferguson533 Yeah maybe, even though they probably wait until the flesh has rotted a bit. I have caught some huge alligator snapping turtles though (~50 pounds) they could probably bite through just about anything? 😢🤓🍻

Years ago as a Peace Corps Volunteer in the Philippines, I used to plow, harrow, and pull carts with my friends' water buffalos. Water buffalos in the Philippines are extremely docile since Philippinos select hard for it. Water buffalos in the rest of Asia are often dangerous and aggressive. Our water buffalos were so well trained to going home that it was a common practice to sprawl across the back of our water buffalos and nap on the way home, since they walk so much slower than a man. Fighting between intact males was rare but exciting and very dangerous.
Congratulations on longest gar Mikey. I was surprised that Mikey had trouble with the gar, since she's usually a trooper.
