nicholas is so incredibly expressive with his eyes, his talent amazes me. his terrified face after pulling away from the kiss absolutely kills me.
He is very skilled in making that sad puppy face. 🥺
I absolutely adored every minute of this movie but my fav part of the book was totally changed and rushed in the film. When Alex finally confesses his love and tells him to make him leave Henry just gives up and totally throws himself at him and they are supposed to have this epic intimate scene knowing very well it could be their last time making love.
I haven’t read the book but they definitely should have included that. probs just had to make it shorter 😞
@@elizabethcim2571 Yeah, out of all the parts that was taken out from the book that whole scene should NOT have been rushed and should have been directly on point because to me it is thee MOST emotional and beautiful moment that Alex and Henry share with each other.

Perfection! Probably the BEST FIRST KISS scene of all time. The moment when Alex realizes Henry's going to kiss him - a split second before it happens; the moment when Alex kisses Henry back (Henry moves in, slight pause, then Alex's lips move to Henry's) and finally, the look on Alex's face when the break the kiss ..... Perfection!
I cannot put into words the mix of joy and sadness this clip and indeed this whole movie filled me with.
Henry was so keyed up, I don't think he realized Alex was actually kissing him back...really leaning into it. When Henry backed off, Alex actually looks stunned! He is REALLY good with his facial expressions!.

@@mkcatherine1631rugby and football are the same sport just called different names by different countries. Alex meant kissing Henry was the same as kissing a girl but at the same time completely different when he was kissing a man ❤ hope that make sense

How I wish this had been a series so more of the book could have been shown and more character development could have been shown. But due to time constraints the movie had to cut characters and scenes. I love the movie though and hope that we do get to see an extended directors cut soon.
I don't know if it would really have worked as a series... The novel isn't that long. MAYBE a very limited one... Like a two-part movie.
Perhaps all the hype around this will convince McQuiston and Lopez to write a sequel (assuming we get ANY new writing for a while!)

Amazon prime, I truly love this movie, your team did a great job, aboutvHenry I know the pain he was going through with his family, as for my self my family, I was excommunicated as I came out to them, I truly cryed though the movie, show the love and pain they went through. I do hope this movie will come out in DVD or blue Ray, it would for other people to see the movie that do not have the Internet in there home or in there phone, please Amazon prime please put this movie on DVD or blue Ray, I know as for myself I would order it. i feel like this could be a waaaay much better scene if only the build up had more tension? like it's missing a bit of the yearning and longing from a secret hidden crush.
In fairness this is pretty accurate to the book. Alex didn't know that Henry liked him. And I think the reader also wasn't supposed to know. So it all felt pretty out of nowhere if we take it out of context of the book and the movie. The events leading up to the kiss in the book was pretty much just them talking. But a detail that did get omitted from the movie was that June (Alex's sister) mentioned that Alex gets grumpy when he doesn't get to talk with Henry. I think that detail could've helped make the progression of their relationship feel more convincing.

I really feel like there was a lack of chemistry between the actors. There wasn't much buildup of emotions to one another except their texting which was mostly just guy banter.
I gotta disagree... I thought Taylor and Nicholas had INSANE chemistry, and their intimacy looked very real. And the texting is a big part of the flirting and romancing they do in the book, as I recall (been a while since I read it).
@@grantyoungblood7895 maybe the book does a better job building that relationship but I just felt the pacing was way too quick and that maybe this story would’ve been better as a show. Compared to other LGBT stories on Hulu or Netflix, this one didn’t really pull me in. Maybe because it’s just a rom-com I put too much expectation in the love part.

Yes, I've heard that opinion expressed a lot... that the pacing of their relationship was too fast, especially compared to the novel. I don't think it would have made for a whole series though... Maybe a two-part movie, rather than just two hours. It's not THAT long a novel, and Matthew Lopez has stated that he wanted to "pare down" the novel for his screenplay, pretty much putting aside anything that wasn't about Alex & Henry's developing romance.
