It all started with Mike Webster, then JR. Seau, for so many years the N.F.L. knew concussions were slowly killing retired heroes of mine. How much I once loved football. I don,t follow it or watch it anymore. It,s all about the money.

As someone whose father played in the NFL and had CTE this makes me irate. The later life complications that come from playing in the NFL are more than most people realize. I can definitely identify with the families of these players that are still going through all of this. It's TOUGH to see someone you love dealing with these mental issues. These men really do change as a result and it's painful for everyone and not just physically. I hope the next generation of players don't suffer the same fate as my dad.
Now I understand why the movie " Concussion " went unnoticed.
Wow, that's really messed up...I'm not surprised...but still messed up. The NFL knew the horrible effects that were happening to the players, even resulting in death. The way they covered up CTE and tried to ruin that doctor's life and family...are we really surprised?
I'm still trying to figure out why Black men haven't come together and start a new football league. I know they wouldn't discriminate against anyone in need of help.

@@odenblackcat2749 yes and no. I don’t know ur full story. Yes it was ur choice to play football, unless u were otherwise forced to by ur parents or people who raised u. No it wasn’t ur choice if forced. Yes it was ur choice to continue to play, even if pressured. The frontal lobe is fully developed in humans at about 25. Therefore, as one matures, they have the ability to make their own choices. Even teenagers comprehend the risk of injury when playing football. I played football in elementary, middle, and high school. After a substantial injury to my right leg preseason of junior year, I chose to no longer play. Move on. Experience new things. And I was slated to play college ball at UMO as a defensive outside linebacker. U only have one physical self. It’s best to take care of it as much as possible. And always have other options or outlets. It’s not a good idea to bank on football $$$, no matter how good u r. Anything can happen. It’s good to have a backup plan. Even Tom Brady has a backup plan. And behind every man, is an even better woman.
