Added all synths used into the description. Some will probably be surprised to see that it's mostly soft synths. The lead part I play via the JD-XA is/was controlling Diva. I first created the entire arrangement in software for convenience, the plan was to swap out some parts for hardware for the final version, as I expected some parts might sound better with real analog synths i.e. swapping the bass sequence from Dune 3 to the Subsequent 37, but actually Dune 3 sounded far better in this case.
Was thinking the same thing, I have the original CiN vinyl. Dare I respectfully suggest though that a strategic and subtle gated reverb on the clap would have sent this rendition even higher. I reckon Jean himself will listen / watch this incredible performance, its that good.
It's nice to see you in person. Jean-Michel Jarre was way ahead in his musical story - Recalling a story shared with me by a leading LON music producer - At concerts, additional generators were needed to power the equipment. I speak about this more in my upcoming memoir Tailor-made to Fly. Available in bookstores/online and audiobooks Q3/24. Continue to enjoy the musical Journey.🚀
I first discovered JMJ back in 1986 and have been a massive fan ever since! You do him great honor with your wonderful cover! It's because if JMJ I love electronic music like YOUR AMAZING original works and have bought many of them on Basecamp! The best compliment I know is how much your work makes me also think of one of the other great composers - Vangelis.
State Azure! As a self proclaimed fanboy of JMJ since 1977, I approve 😀 I think you walked a fine line of excellence here: respecting the original form, yet adding your own input which I thought was very fitting. On a side note, and I'm stating the obvious, this version makes it quite clear to hear how "analogue" the original is in comparison - i thought it was interesting....(synth geek!) Nicely done! 👍
What a great job have you done!!! I am a big fan of this JMJ composition. This was a big concern for me that it is so rare, I'd say even underrated! And your interpretations is SO GREAT! I like it very much!!!
When I first heard the original I got goosebump overdose and this cover does the same darn thing . Very nice indeed. Sweeping chord changes .... oh yeah !
A superb cover. Arpegiator is in my top 5 favourite Jean-Michel Jarre tracks. The Concerts In China album is often overlooked, but I think its one of his best albums. Night In Shanghai is epic! Top work as always. :)
@@stateazure awesome! I'll look forward to that, especially with that thunderous bass line :) I think the only other time he's played that intro for Equinoxe 7, apart from in China was at Destination Docklands. Dunno why, its' fantastic.
Just WOW. I love this tune from when I first heard it way back in the 80's on a cassette played through a cheap Walkman and very cheap headphones 🎧. Thanks for doing this cover version 👍👍
Thanks for sharing. I like this composition of yours alot. I read your notes and hear some creative discontent driving your process (lots of artists have this). I feel that you have been faithful to Jarre and hope you some day do a cover of Oxygene. I like Jarre a lot and found your cover to be less frenetic than the original. I consider this to be your own style coming through. I also hear some Tangerine Dream like themes in this Jarre cover, in some of the expansive pads and the synth trumpet sounds, and like this also.
Thanks, Raku. It wouldn't be one of my covers if I didn't add some of those atmospheric pads etc in, plus that gave me something to improvise over the main part of the track, since everything else was sequenced. Glad you liked it! I'd love to do something from Oxygene at some point, though I have other covers to tackle before that so it won't be any time soon.
Great cover of one of my favorite Jarre tracks. I listened to Les Concerts en Chine around the time I was on a student exchange to the Côte d'Azure (in Sanary-sur-Mer / Six-Fours-Les-Plages). What a coincidence.
I grew up listening to Jarre, and hearing Concerts in China for the first time way back as a kid this track really stood out to me. You've done an outstanding job with this cover. Most people would go for more typcial Oxygene/Magnetic Fields, but I'm sure you like to challenge yourself lol! 11/10 would love to hear you cover the entire album...
Been a JMJ fan since Oxygene in the late 70s. This rendition, of my favorite track from the concerts in China, is absolutely fantastic. The ambient of the original is all there. Jarre never repeated this recipe, it's just very different from all the other work. Anyone remembers this song in the movie 9 1/2 Weeks, the scene at night, raining, with Kim Basinger and Mickey Rourke doing it... Congrats and keep on the good work. Cheers 🇵🇹
I've been following your music for a very short period of time and I believe your atmospheres are great. With this cover you proved to be at theblevel of the master. Not many people live having made a really good remix or cover of a JMJ song, and you completely nailed it. You perfected an already perfect song. Infinite thanks for this!!!
I was actually listening to the original on my way home from work, only last week, 1st heard it back in '88 and is one of my favourite Jarre tracks! I imagine this would be extremely difficult to emulate. Great cover!
JMJ! Yass! The stereo separation and movement is just perfection. Huge nostalgia hit as well. Amazing work SA, great visuals too. I'll be listening to this interpretation a few times, for sure.
Love the work and the effort for this track. If it's possible, in the future...maybe you can cover Calypso 2, that is another gem from Jean-Michel Jarre. Anyway, your cover for Arpegiateur is sublime. ❤❤❤
I too, have attempted this tune.... a nightmare to emulate precisely 😂😂 I would admit to some frustration trying to copy some of the arpeggio patterns and timing !!! Great version though!!👏👏👏👏
Yeah it was a tough one, the patterns are impossible to precisely make out once the mix gets busy during chord changes, and the timing of chord changes and lengths of certain sequences aren't always exactly on the start of bars.
Added all synths used into the description. Some will probably be surprised to see that it's mostly soft synths. The lead part I play via the JD-XA is/was controlling Diva. Honestly, one of the best renditions of this I’ve heard since I first heard on Concerts in China. Brilliant 👍🏼
That was a long time ago right
Was thinking the same thing, I have the original CiN vinyl. Dare I respectfully suggest though that a strategic and subtle gated reverb on the clap would have sent this rendition even higher.
I reckon Jean himself will listen / watch this incredible performance, its that good.
If I could time travel, I'd go to Jarre's China tour in the 80s...
Same very thought
Yeah "jonques..." when the synths come in mixed with traditional instruments = heaven
Incredible! this brings back so many memories from my younger self listening to Jarre. Thank you for keeping his legendary electronic music alive!
Thanks!
i perfectly remember my first vinyl by JMJ, "Oxygene" that day my life changed...., magnificent cover SA...
Remembering a time when the my best acoustic sanctuary was in my car listening to JMJ- The Concerts In China on CD. So Powerful.
So glad I was able to catch the premier of this. The mix and stereo field sound so good! 💯
A great job! From a music fan of 45 years, brought up on Jarre, Tangerine Dream and Klaus Schulze that my dad would play constantly when I was a kid.
Thank you!
I still remember hearing this for the first time back in the 80's. Thank you for an incredible re-imagining of one of my
fave pieces.
This is a stellar rendition, Pat! Just, WOW!! 🤩✨️🤩✨️🤩 Love the artwork too!
Real nice cover I hope you release a album of them.

He's gone and done Arpegiator! Glorious. Really good.

Thanks so much for your comment and support!
Great job 👋👍
IMHO, it's the most amazing recreation of another masterpiece of Jean-Michel Jarre. Incredible!
Thank you!
This sound like the Jean Michel I used to listen to. Much better than the modern albums and tracks. Old school. Love it.
I'm really looking forward to this, it's one of my favourite JMJ tracks that, unfortunately, doesn't last long enough.
Neither is this one long enough, but I hope you enjoyed it anyway :) it's a tiny bit longer!
@@stateazure it was a wonderful recreation, thank you!
@@stateazureI just miss a bit more of China Concert reverb 😅 but it sounds amazing.. You changed the Simmons Drums for a hard dry hit drum.
Yes indeed. You are the Superman of sound in your Fortress of Solitude!!
It's not just music. It's a way of life.

What a masterful rendition. ❤
It's been so long since I've been here! This is already a Classic from the golden 80s. Author, bravo! Great job!
What a great job have you done!!!

Muzyki elektronicznej słucham od dziecka i chyba nigdy mi się nie znudzi a mam 60 lat poproszę o więcej brawo❤
State, what a sound field, great one. And superb visuals, too. Thank you 😊
This is really rather excellent
Good job sir
I like the _idea_ of J-M Jarre more than I actually like his music.
*This is much better!*
When I first heard the original I got goosebump overdose and this cover does the same darn thing . Very nice indeed. Sweeping chord changes .... oh yeah !
really sweet rendition, captures the original perfectly and brings it into 2023....nice
Wonderful. Your solo was fantastic, perfect placement. JMJ would approve.
A superb cover. Arpegiator is in my top 5 favourite Jean-Michel Jarre tracks. The Concerts In China album is often overlooked, but I think its one of his best albums. Night In Shanghai is epic! Top work as always. :)
Thank you! I agree, amazing album. I would like to maybe do a version of Equinoxe 7 one day, incorporating the amazing intro he does on this album

This has to be on bandcamp !!
Great work, thank you !!
Last time i listen Jean i was a kid, always enjoy his songa, o from 1978.
Dude. This is awesome. Just incredible. Literally blown away. Such talent!!
wow... JMJ's Arpegiator in 21st century version... awesome
Absolutely brilliant - love these cover versions 🎹👍🏻Please do Art Of Noise : Moments in love next 😊🙏🎹
OMG YEEEEESSSSSSSS! !!!!!!!!!!!
For me too, Moments in love is one of my favorit and will be fantastic in this style ❤
Interesting and refreshing to see a Jarre cover that is not a remix! Well done!
Amazing journey through the Arpegiator!
Loved it! 🎼🎹🎶
🤘
Good stuff. Thank u for the upload.
Absolutely incredible version!! love JJM and love your channel
Oh man, am I ever glad I came across this, been forever it seems since I've heard anything from Jean-Michel Jarre. Love it!
Literally my most favorite JMJ track.
Love the rework you did to the later lead synth giving it what i can best describe as a more Buck Rogers Disco vibe.
Now this will be special!
This really is VERY good. The pads really make it cosmic. Feels like Richard Devine had role in this with all the band pass filter sweeps. Bravo!
I got goosebumps at how good this was! Thank you!
One of my favourite and timeless tracks! Great cover!
This is EXCELLENT.... Your favourite fan in NZ.
Added to my electronica list! ❤
I grew up appreciating and trying to channel Jarre into my own playing in the mid-late 80s. This is an excellent rendition! Love your work.
Great cover of one of my favorite Jarre tracks. I listened to Les Concerts en Chine around the time I was on a student exchange to the Côte d'Azure (in Sanary-sur-Mer / Six-Fours-Les-Plages). What a coincidence.
As JMJ opend a whole new world to me when I was a very young boy. This is a impressive spin on it. Congrats❤
I only have a vague memory of the original, but this was a very Jarre'esque cover. Very pleasant to the old earholes.
Mr Jean Michelle-Jarre will be very impressed. Brilliant cover!👍👍
i love JMJ a greatest elektronic music Artist !!!!

One of Jarre's monuments to me.
Takes me back listening to that , great reproduction.👍🏻
Dude I love your setup its so organized very well !
Thanks :)
I hope this superb version inspires the composer Jean-Michel to play this piece more often in concert !
I love your renditions of many electronic music pieces.

Congratulaciones por siempre a toda tu obra musical. Yo siempre agradecido al escuchar tu trabajo.
Love it!!!!.. Now let's go to the subway wet scene of 9 Weeks and 1/2 with Kim Basinger dancing to the rythm 😅😅😅😅😅😅

A masterpiece!
Really exceptionally good adaptation! Gorgeous lead sound in the final part. 🏆
Bravo! Bravissimo das coisas nascem coisas...
A copia nao tem mal nenhum, o seu toque esta la!!
arte também é reinventar a propria arte.
Congrats!! ❤❤
incredible setup...... perfect sound.... excellent.....
Fantastic job. Not the easiest JMJ track to cover.
Awesome cover of a great track! The solo is fantastic and feels like it always was there in the original…
Cheers, Marc!
What a genius artist you are
Stunning cover of one of my favorite JMJ pieces. Love this! Nice work with the video as well. Your recording sound quality is excellent, too!
Thank you!
genius, chill, 90s corporate america ambience ❤😁
You surely have the Midas touch with your sonic ability exceptional 👌
Woohoo, wow what a great cover of a classic. Fantastic work Pat!
Just amazing ! Thank you for this
This music is very VERY good for me!!
Nice job stranger. I take no music disapproving and it’s so rare that I finally meet a perfect sound.
Beautiful theme, inspiring...
Cool, sends into another world...
Really interesting would to see the comment of maestro JMJ here on this great cover!
This is an amazing cover, one of my favourites of Jarre, well done!
Your Art Enhances Life!
Respect, dear fellow musician, a very successful cover of an absolutely awesome track!
This Song has always sounded More Tangerine Dream than Jarre. In a good way 😍
This is soooo good. It's one of my favourite tracks ever, I've listened to the original hundreds of times. Your version is amazing :)
Thanks :)
Fantastic effort covering Jarre’s best work.
Many thanks!
Brillant, einfach super gemacht. Das würde einem JMJ sicher gefallen ❤
