Just found you both and I am loving the three video`s I have watched so far. I was nearly in tears watching this one, the boat being lowered and it`s first trip out, very moving. I bet you couldn`t believe it at the time! I grew up near the Manchester Ship Canal and Barton swing aqueduct, spent hours watching boats and have always loved being by canals and water and you have now planted a seed that I could live on a narrowboat. Looking forward to watching more of your videos.
Welcome aboard! We are so glad you found us. You’re right, launch day was so emotional. A mix of nerves and excitement for this new life, but two years on and we have no regrets! I too grew up near the canal and used to visit lots on days out to look at the boats, and never believed that one day I’d be doing it too 😊
Had to watch this one too! Seems like you dealt with many highly competent and professional people having your boat built and even put in the water, hope it all continues to go smoothly for you. All the best, will check out your other films when time permits. Cheers.
The guys at Russell Narrowboats were so fantastic to work with, especially considering we were all the way in Texas. They truly made it work for us. Am we were so happy when we finally got to see the boat in real life. Such fantastic craftsmanship. Thanks for watching 😊
Thanks so much Dave! We are so happy with our choice of colour, after having a very quick 24 hours to choose and keep our paint slot! We get so many lovely compliments as we are cruising 😊
🤣🤣 Laughed out loud at Poppy and the swan! I used to have a girl Westie and they definitely have a mind of their own!! Great reminiscences of launch day - you are becoming old hats at this narrowboating lark! Loved the comment from your son Alex . . . and the typical parental response! 😂 Take care, enjoy each day and each destiny.
I have to say that Poppy is far more sassy that the two old boys ever were! She even answers back with a grumbling low pitched woof if we tell her off 😂. So glad you are enjoying the videos! ❤️
From the US - The birth into the berth was thrilling! Thank you for that AND your inclusion of Thrupp which was the final destination of our recent adventure on the cut. Bravo to your talented son. He didn’t just appear out of nowhere.
Hi Beth, glad you enjoyed it! It was such an exciting day. We absolutely loved Thrupp. So pretty, the lovely tea room, a couple of nice pubs, and good facilities all right there! One of our favourite places so far. I will pass on your comment to Alex. He will love to hear that 😊
Beautiful area! Oh my word, the tension of launching! I've had two different boats here in the Pacific NW for 28 years total, and had each of them hauled almost every year, I sure understand the tension. But this, with your boat, was different, because it was a different kind of boat, was being lifted with just two straps (I always used four), and it was off of a truck/trailer, and it was the first hoist. And your music was perfectly tense! 🙂 Splash! that first moment that the boat touches water. So cool. Feels sort of like she finally is a real boat, and in the water where she has always wanted to be. Thank you to Alex Rudd for that music ... amazing and perfect! What a perfect beginning to your lives on the water.
You describe the feeling so well of launch day! Excitement and nervousness all mixed up, and that ‘real boat’ feeling when she touches the water! Thanks for watching 😊
So very exciting (& a bit nerve racking) to see your boat enter the water for the first time. But, she looked like she was in most capable hands (surely not their first day on the job-lol). And so, your adventures begin! Congratulations👍 Your son, Alex’s music makes the vlog extra special. So glad as I believe that good things happen to good people. Thanks for sharing and ENJOY as you’ve waited quite some time to see this become a reality.
You've got those emotions exactly right Vicki! Nervousness with a huge dollop of excitement, and thankfully we knew she was in good hands on launch day, and it went without a hitch. We have no regrets about the day we said let's just do this! It's lovely to hear that you are enjoying the videos 😊
Oh my Giddy Aunt, did your Son write that piece? That was so beautiful. And another lovely video. Time does go by so fast. Thank you for sharing your stunning boat with us.💙🙏🏻🐶🐾
You’re so welcome Julie, and we love having you along for the ride 😊. I will pass on your lovely comments to Alex. I’ve been nagging him to write more music for upcoming videos 😊
@@julienorton1067 OMG that’s hilarious! I just corrected it to what I actually meant ‘lovely comment’. Yes autocorrect is a bugger but gave us a laugh 😂
Beautiful. I love that your son is a musician as it is what I do for a living. We are a mere 20 days away from our very first time ever in a NB! This is our first step into exploring a potential option for the future. Cheers!
Such an exciting time for you Jayne! Where will you be heading ? Our original plan was to have some holidays aboard to test out the life, but distance and Covid put a stop to that so we just took a leap of faith, and so far it’s working out perfectly! Alex just graduated with a degree in Musical Theatre. He’s been our singing boy for a long as we can remember 🎶
Mercia Marina launch day.... do you know Love life Truimph they are moored there as well, I watch them also they just got a dog names Kenneth, they are not boaters just floaters lol would love them to try boating on the canals one day. please check them out
Yes, the dogs all have life jackets that they wear whilst cruising, and we also have clips to hook their leads on. A new boat at current prices is upwards of about £2k per foot, but we thankfully got in before the increase in materials cost 👍. Thanks for watching 😊
@@onedaymoreaboard I follow "Cruising the cut" and I fell in love with your canal system so i just love watching video's like yours. I hear there is a lot of boats on the cut is it as crowded as it looks?
@@lars1701again Well we haven’t cruised through a summer yet, so we shall see if it does get busy. So far it’s been quiet and no problem finding mooring spots! 😊
Enjoyed your launching…. Love your Boaty colors💙 Did you run into The Narrowboat Chef(s) ? I think they spent the winter at that marina…… happy cruising☺️
Thanks so much! We love how it turned out after taking a bit of a risk with a not very traditional colour, and we get so many lovely comments as we are cruising. We left Mercia Marina mid September so didn’t get to meet the Narrowboat Chef but we follow their channel 😊👍

Thank you! It was a bit of a wet cruise yesterday 😂😊
GREAT LOOKING BOAT....
Thank you 😊
So scary watching your lovely new home hanging in the air. Well done Alex for the music. We've only been waiting 4 years for some from my son !!!
Yes, seeing it hanging there is definitely a heart in your mouth moment!! You really need to persuade your son, his music is beautiful 😍
Wow all the Nuclear reactors in the background...
