Fantastic video. Such memories!! My grandmother sold tickets in one of those little ticket booths for years. I always got a new outfit for our yearly Saint Alphonsus school picnic!
And my first concert was Fats Domino at Dance Land, wonderful memories!!

This is a proper tribute to an iconic Pittsburgh teen dance landmark. Thank you. It should be noted that AM WZUM's frequency was 1590. I collected in the sixties with Gary Larkin and we enjoyed some healthy competition through the '70's as club DJ's (Gary at The Loose Balloon, me at The Holiday House). Gary won Billboards Best Pittsburgh Club DJ award twice. I came in second. With a mutual friend, my wife and I visited Gary at the Veterans Hospital. We took him to dinner and reminisced. I still have his publication, 'Records That Made Pittsburgh Famous'. I had the pleasure and honor of working with Mike at three radio stations; WYEP, WWCS and WZUM. Mad Mike was a collectors collector. He had houses of records. Both had a deep and abiding love for Pittsburgh Oldies and a true dedication to their craft.

Wasn't there a place called ''The Bavarian Room''. I remember it being so nice and cool inside. I remember my mother and aunt taking us to the Brookline picnic and later on my two uncles came from U.S Steel still dressed in their suits , they were so funny never stopped to change . That was the first time I rode the Big Dips when my uncle John took me on them. I also remember going with my grandparents to the Duquesne Light picnics when I was very young. They were wonderful days

I was 6 at the time and watched it burn. I lived right up the street on Waverly Ave.

I was dancing to bands there in the 50's. No way the Rolling Stones were the first band to play there.

The Rolling Stones played at Danceland and the tickets were $1.50 -- True Story.
