      No, they are not innocent according to the Bible. They are in need of a Savior as well. Ephesians 2:1-3 says we are all born with a sin nature, and we are all by nature children of wrath. But God is able to save even infants. He caused John the Baptist to be born again even before he was born, and God can do this today too.

      So logically a doctor who does 10000 abortions has ensured that they all go to heaven. He might go to hell himself, but he has just done an incredible selfess sacrifice in giving all of those babies a ticket to heaven.

    Going into the promised land, those who were children when the people of Israel sinned were allowed to go in, they were not held guilty.

    • @CT-if2tt
      @CT-if2tt Рік тому

      @johnmarkharris This is apples and oranges. The Israelite children weren't guilty of a particular sin - they didn't disbelieve God in the time of the wanderings, but they were sinners nonetheless. They too needed a savior. Ephesians 2:1-3 says we are all sinners from birth and are by nature children of wrath. Therefore there is no age of accountability or different rules for children since we are all by nature "children of wrath." This says we are all guilty from birth.

      @CT-if2tt every time we sin, we're guilty; but we are forgiven due to Jesus sacrifice. You would agree the Lord is merciful? If so, it would be possible there's an Age of Accountability. (unless you're some type of depressed Calvinist)

      @@bengochea64 Forgiveness and mercy are only for those who have been born again (saved). Otherwise, everyone goes to heaven - but Jesus said few are saved. Until someone has been saved, they are under the wrath of God from conception (Eph 2:1-3, John 1:12-13, John 3:36).

      @@johnmarkharris Yes it says that, but we know it doesn't equate to salvation because in the same verse it says the "unbelieving husband is made holy because of his wife." He's unbelieving so he's clearly not saved. So the question here is "what does the word holy mean in this context?" It means the union is sanctified - it's not an unholy union. The same principle applies to the children. But in no way is Paul saying that the unbelieving husband has been saved (born again, made a new creation), nor have the children...but they may be saved in the future by the means that anyone else is saved.

    "Where there is no law, there is no transgression" (Romans 4:15). Maybe as parents, we should avoid laying down the law until it is necessary. It is by the law we find out we are sinners (see Romans 7:9). But there does come a point when the inherited sin needs to be restrained. A child becomes a willful sinner the moment they deliberately disobey a command they have been given.
    I get the emotion in this question, my little brother passed the day after he was born. The Lord has a comfort better than knowing about my brother.

    • @CT-if2tt
      @CT-if2tt Рік тому

      I'm sorry for the loss of your brother. The verse you quoted is part of a larger argument which doesn't apply to this situation. What does apply is Eph 2:1-3 - we're all born sinners with a sinful nature and are all "children of wrath." So law or no law, disobedience or obedience, our sinful nature condemns us from the moment of conception. The hope is that God always does what is right and good because He is always right and good. He is able to cause someone to be born again even before they are born (this is exactly what the Bible says happened to John the Baptist.) And while not a guarantee, the children of Christians usually (not always though) tend to be Christians. I rest in knowing that God is gracious and always good.

    The Westminster Confession of Faith uses very precise and carefully chosen language on this matter: "Elect infants, dying in infancy, are regenerated, and saved by Christ, through the Spirit, who worketh when, and where, and how he pleaseth: so also are all other elect persons who are incapable of being outwardly called by the ministry of the Word" (10.3).
    The Confession entertains the idea that at least some infants who die in infancy and some others "who are incapable of being outwardly called" are among the elect. Note our Lord's words to His disciples in Luke 18:15,16 (the word for babies in v.15 indicates nursing babes, infants): He says that "such as these possess the kingdom of God").
    However, the Confession does not say that all such infants, etc., are saved. What it does say is that the Holy Spirit can regenerate such who are elect by means of His sovereign choosing. Surely John the Baptizer presents an instance of infant regeneration (in the womb), Luke 1:39-44.

    If God does not condemn people for what they are unable to do then this verse has no meaning. Matthew 5:48 Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.
    I know we all want to think that babies, children etc. are free from wrath and go to Heaven, but I still don't think we have enough evidence to say this conclusively.

    • @cometcal2
      @cometcal2 Рік тому

      Context is important when citing scriptural passages in theological discussions. In Matthew 5:48, Jesus was speaking to a group of people that are assumed to have the capacity to comprehend and act on what he was saying. God's wrath is reserved for those who choose to say and do acts that do not honor Him. ( Matthew 12:33-37). The "get out of Hell" card is found here - John 3:16.

    By the Bible, yes they have no guilt of sin because they have no accountability without the consciousness to be able to make decisions of right or wrong.
    By the false doctrine that is Calvinism, some do and some don’t because God somehow arbitrarily chooses some to and some not to. You see, in Calvinism salvation does not come by faith but by pure election alone.

As it is written, Jacob have I loved, but Esau have I hated. What shall we say then? Is there unrighteousness with God? God forbid. @@Joe-xg1yt Hi Joe - this is a large topic and a UA-cam comment will not be sufficient to explain it. But as for your specific question, what does "world" mean in John 3:16? The Greek word is κοσμον, which unsurprisingly means "world." There are Greek words for "every person," but those words weren't used here. We know that God does not love every person, at least not savingly (Rom 9:13 "Jacob I loved, Esau I hated"), also Psalm 5:5 "The boastful shall not stand before You; you hate all evildoers."
      So if "world" does not mean "every person," what does it mean? We must use scripture to interpret scripture. See Romans 11:7-11 and notice how "world" and "Gentiles" are used interchangeably. So, "world" means "not just the Jews."
      So, what John 3:16 means is "For God so loved not just the Jews but the Gentiles also, that He gave..." This was a radical thought to the Jews.
      In any case, I'd recommend reading Romans chapters 9-11, John 1:12-13, Ephesians 1:1-3, John 6:65. These are all passages that aren't often taught.
      Finally, we must understand what the Bible says about human nature. We aren't good by nature. In fact, the Bible says we are evil by nature and are children of wrath from birth (Ephesians 2:1-3),. But God is gracious in that He saves some of us because all of us deserve hell. Again, that's not often taught but it used to be common knowledge among church goers.

      What Jesus said to the thief in the cross in Luke 23:43? And he said to him, “Truly, I say to you, today you will be with me in paradise.”
      Oh, so the thief that believed in Jesus is right now in the third heaven.

      Really? You took time out of your day to troll a small Bible channel? Question something you evidently don't believe exists already? The philosopher Sarte' wrote" The atheist confirms the existence of God with the vehemence (fervor) of his denial." Why question something that does not exist? Look up. See the sky? That is "the heavens" in the literal sense. So yes, heaven exists. Next up: does oxygen exist?

      @Logic doesn't "suck for theists " If one walks into a room and sees a couch, logic dictates that someone put it there. An illogical response would be that the couch put itself there...kinda like saying matter created itself.
