The name coffee comes from kaffa. Ethiopia is the birthplace of coffee. Also, Moka (the Italian machine to make coffee) comes from the port of Moka in Yemen which was the main port for the exportation of coffee in europe
Huh? Coffee definitely comes from Ethiopia but the English word coffee is ultimately derived from the Arabic word Qahwah which became Kahve in Turkish and Caffe in Italian.
Kaffa came from the later Emir of Harar and leader of Adal if I recall, this was the result of winning a major battle and the need for continued war ending (mostly from memory)
I personally haven't seen anything specifically different with your strategy than others in the past. I would say personally I would move my capital once that province you take on the coast becomes available. It takes you out of the Ethiopian trade node (which is terrible) and gives you options to send your second trade guy to. I mean you do have like 75% less cost might as well take advantage of it
Ethiopia is my favorite african nation to play. Its been quite a while since the last time i played them, my start a new campaign after this video. Nice one Ludi 👌🏻
I enjoy Ethiopia but there’s not really any mission trees you can easily tag switch to & im usually done with their tree by the late 1500s. Hoping 1.36 will give an opportunity to tag between Ethiopia & Armenia.
It was crazy to me how fast you can expand as Ethiopia. I kinda just ignored Arabia and focused on the horn but still managed to unite it all in, like, a decade. Every single nation other than Mamluks & Adal is full annex-able & doesn't give that much AE relatively speaking. Only problem was I didn't have nearly enough admin points to core it all quickly let alone CONTINUE expanding. After I got Alexandria (which I converted before coring lol) I just stopped doing anything at all for a couple decades outside of creating a Swahili vassal to feed some Kilwa land & vassalizing Yemen. The ticking autonomy is also a nightmare though
I didn't even play all that well. Adal allied Mamluks right away and I was kinda pissed so instead of trying to break Adal's alliance I just annexed them non-cobelligerent through 3 separate wars with their allies, which probably cost me lots of AE & diplo points. I got impatient that my high octane campaign was inconvenienced
Just played a Kaffa > Ethiopia > Aksum run to in an effort to get the Pick Your Poison Achievement but gave up since the Ottomans got out of control, and was just thinking of doing a normal Ethiopia run to see if I can beat the new stronger Mams/Ottomans if I get a headstart starting as Ethiopia instead of Kaffa. However, as someone who basically learned the game on Ethiopia I would say go with the missionary strength first since that will prevent your country from ending up like modern Ethiopia. I would also say that you can reliably get Faceting to spawn in Massawa/Adulis. If you cannot manage to rush down the Mamluks some of the best provinces to dev for Renaissance are Demibiya (which has cotton) or Aksum with the special dev cost modifier (though in the past I've devved adulis directly which is very expensive, not sure if Renaissance can spread from Akusm fast enough to get Faceting).
I like to keep Adal as a vassal, when playing Ethiopia, because they have a monument in Harer that gives A FLAT MODIFIER to institution spread. In other words; you never have to dev for institutions thanks to this monument... The caviat is that the province, as well as whoever directly controls it must remain muslim, so you can't make use of this if you don't give it to a muslim vassal, which is why it's important to make sure you don't get stuck in your mission tree.
I think getting missionary strength first coptic buff is better than ccr, it helps you fast convert for missions and more stable country and plus you can rush to second one and then get ccr and core everything
I prefer core cost reduction first. A good Ethiopia start will see many lands conquered in a very short time. Core cost reduction reduces that upfront admin cost. You'll be getting that second one for the missionary strength very soon after, so it's not making as big of a difference. It's not really gonna solve rebels when you gotta spam reduce autonomy anyway.
@@antonioussykas4140 you did not get my point. you can rush to second province that is near mamluk no need to core anything for like 5 years and as soon as you get second one core its whole state only and convert(which will be faster) then unlock ccr and core everything that you left uncored
@@antonioussykas4140 I think maybe I'm just biased since I've played a lot of Ethiopia before Origins, and also without that DLC that gives empires a cultural union. Currently playing them again and with their busted mission tree maybe you're right, since you would have already taken Qasir Ibrim almost right after game start.
@LudietHistoria there is no surprise Kaffa is associated with coffee. (sorry if it was sarcasm of yours). It is basically the province where coffee plant from. Just search for history of coffee
Hello Ludi, can you play as Oyo from West Africa? I thought they're overlooked cause Songhai and Mali are the strongest in that area, imo Oyo is 3rd strongest there, they have unique mission tree and good for vassal swarming
Good sir Lubi, did a Sunda into Banten into hindu Japan, into emperor of china run, stacking modifiers, ended up with 24,5% missionary strength & 8 missionaries, 80 CCR and some other good shit, so thinking to do it again and make it into a one faith since everyone just does boring HRE one faiths, which idea groups would you take and in which order? Thinking Diplo --> Religious --> Admin & then some mil idea, prolly aristo or quantity.
IMO. The gameplay here is a little too generalist and doesn't take advantage of the Ethiopian moving capital nor their unique Cawa units. I use Cawa almost exclusively as infantry. They are so cheap and Ethiopia can easily spare some mil points. By spamming these out and consolidating there are no manpower issues. I move my capital to each gold mine and dev the living crap out of them. Ethiopia can get their depletion chance down to 0%.
The cawa force limit is busted yo. I don't know why but for some reason I get more cawa force limit than I can actually land unless I go full inf. This is weird because you can't get as much of other special units such as strelsy/cossack/samurai.
cawa are strong, but not that strong. honestly, their biggest advantage is the attrition reduction, especially in mountains/desert, which there is a lot of in africa and arabia.
Don't forget to feed all the Sidamo culture-provinces to the south to the starting vassal Hadiya - even tho Ethiopia starts out with the Empire government rank - so that it can convert some of the non-Coptic provinces to Coptic. Ow, and don't forget to seize the province of Arsi from the Hadiya since the aforementioned province is Amharan - the culture that Ethiopia starts out as the primary Culture.
If Ethiopia is empire rank then that doesn't matter unless you don't have the DLC that gives Empires a cultural union automatically. And if you started with the missionary strength instead of CCR you can easily convert everything. There is also a mission with the Origins DLC that allows you to easily convert Kaffa region.
@@danshakuimo there are a lot of places where You need to convert, dear Tovarisch. At least one subject like the aforementioned Hadiya would convert the provinces while You busy with the others. If You are fast enough, maybe You can even help Your subject convert the provinces

I probably wait a few years before give many privilages other then the mana ones and maybe the loans ones since you can get a lot of crownland back from conquering a ton of land if the estates influence remains low.

In Turkish, Coffee is Kahve and Europe met coffee via ottomans. So not some reason Ludi, Coffee is Kahve and Kahve is Kafa.
