What a powerful ice breaker! You are already a great speaker, holding your audience attention with your personal experience

Thank you so much for this! I am now “getting what I want from life” pursuing art as my third career. I’m ignoring all the messages about age, inborn talent, and any other negatives that are thrown at me. This is my current passion and nothing will stop me from expressing myself in this way!

awesome! art is subjective and most important is that you have fun! i am also pursuing that much more this year as a real career and not a hobby. ebay is a good place for low price point pieces with a popular category but there are better sites like saatchi, etsy, artnet, fine art america, etc. marketing is really important.
i am starting from scratch in terms of a website and marketing but i have some knowledge about it. start instagram, blog if u want to, leave your friends behind just kidding.
get in a local gallery that has some decent traffic. that will help you stay accountable. there are many artists who started late. many of them started after they are retired. in fact most of the local art groups around me are full of retirees. check out Saatchi Art and look at the sold section to see what is happening!

Thank you for sharing. I am also Guyanese and was researching on how to become a Toastmaster. Your story is very inspirational and it gave me a little confidence that joining will be a rewarding experience for me and the push that I need to get my career on the right track.

I am currently in toastmasters preparing my ice breaker speech. I got on youtube and searched for icebreaker speech toastmasters and you were the one that popped up at the top. I watched the video and was so surprised to discover that the first example of an icebreaker speech I found was being given by a Guyanese person, because I am Guyanese too. Thank you for sharing your story and using your pain to give back to your community!

Man that was some ice breaker bro. I checked if it is only 6 minutes in the end as you said it so well! Well done and God bless!

i''m thinking about joining up locally. it is one of my biggest fears. i even hate using the phone with strangers. huge fear factors for me. listening to my own voice is utter torture.
i know i have to overcome that. thx for the inspiration.

I visited a club in my area. I think its the ice breaker speech that put me off the most. I don't know why they would choose the hardest subject matter for your first speech. Can't they let you do one on something i am dispassionate about like chewing gum.

I’m confused. Was this your actual Toastmasters Icebreaker? Or are you an experienced Toastmaster demonstrating what an awesome icebreaker speech looks like?
