Benavidez hit that point in his mind when you’re training for a fight and your mind just goes completely blank, you think about nothing else except the moment ahead and you pass the mental and pain threshold that only true warriors know that you have to pass when training. He’s there it’s his time

I'm a Strength and conditioning coach as well, this guy is smart so if he can communicate his knowledge well then they will deload and taper properly which will mitigate fatigue and he'll be good. If they don't taper properly he's going to go in banged up or off performance
The thing is that Benavidez is not just a puncher. He is a volume puncher with great conditioning and punch selection.
He is in love with his strength and offense. Never saw descent defense though.

I love that David is doing heavy compound movements with his S & C. There is a misconception that lifting weights is bad for boxing. Who wouldn't want to be stronger and faster? When Mikey fought Spence he was flabby and too weak. Spence's speed and power advantage was clear.
Also, Juan Manuel Marquez finally started doing heavy S & C towards the end of his career, and he knocked out Pacman.

I call this Turbo Training. I preach this type of training for speed and power. the more you train this way you not only develop more power, but you also recover quicker from an explosive move. The only caveat is you have to be careful with increasing injury potential. I can't wait to see the results, because i preach the same ideology. This guy is amazing how he understands these concepts. First I've heard of him.
