A little sand and some salt water lend to the authenticity of this painting, Michael. Definitely a favorite. Love the new additions to your palette today. Thanks for the encouragement to try them.
You’ve done it again! I’m new at painting and have not tried plein air, yet. You are wonderful at explaining what and why you’re doing what you’re doing. Plus, you let us know that it’s ok if things don’t work. It’s the trying things that help us learn.
I really like the water you got from the light turquoise and Indian yellow. The storms in CA have been very memorable this year and I thinks it’s cool that you captured some of the drama.
I enjoyed! Thx much. I am new to plein air painting and still learning the process. It really helps to see someone else's process. BTW, I like the painting. :-)
You really captured the rough water beautifully. Liked your Indian Yellow and Turquoise combo! Loved that you added the sky and dark and light clouds which really suggested why the sea was so turbulent. Maybe the sky could be a bit grayed down..hum. Bravo for painting in such difficult weather and the painting really came out beautifully. Would be a good one to scale up in the studio(?) because it is a good painting of the atmosphere on a stormy day!
Wow ... way to go Mike, Go go go ! What a fun painting/looking experience thàt was Highpoint for me: when you scooped that humongous amount of paint for the whitewater, I was really ... lol! Here's really capturing some freedom . Especially the water and the sky are yours to play with; you really own them now. Really enjoyable ! Congrats, really... and thanks.
I think the painting is brilliant and a subject (i.e. stormy seas/strong waves) you could develop. maybe get a painting thats focused on the waves crashing on rocks with the clouds of spray. There would be a lot of textures to contend with (angry skies, different colours of the water, etc) but I think you could explore this more. Great painting - watch out for the cost as the paintings are getting bigger and the paint thicker! Good job you didn't surf- could have been a messy outcome on the beach. Cheers Paul
Very nice painting, sir! It definitely worked out great. Also, these rich ocean sounds were so amazing! I think the phrase "Rain is coming!" is a great motivational factor for painters! Greetings from the EU!
Very nice Michael! I’ve been using the warm white lately and really enjoy it. I don’t know if I’d completely replace titanium white with it but it’s nice to have a white that’s not so cool
Loving this series - feel like I’m learning more than I did in college (or maybe it’s with a more mature appreciation?) hearing you break down the color selections and brushwork.
I like the painting very much. I do wonder what it might have looked like if the dark to the right 1/4 leaned a little more toward the dark of El Greco's View of Toledo's sky
Yes cos there is a hole in the sun the scientists say it's normal and temporary and storms come thru . We have bad storms here in Sydney Australia as well

Excellent! You captured the 'violence' of the motif perfectly! Reminded of a video from several years back, CITYSCAPE in 20 MINUTES oil painting DEMO....quick, exaggerated strokes and very little definition! As always, great job! Quick question...'Warm White'...I'm just learning about this white now...is it similar to Zinc White?
I prefer to tone on site because I like the panel to be slightly damp. I also like the option to tone in a different color, or not at all, depending on the situation.
Please, oh please, don't paint over this if you decide you're not satisfied with it.. You could certainly send it to me next September when my Patreon acct passes another year. It was exciting to watch. I hope I'll get a chance to go to the ocean here, myself, in May, and I'll try to be this brave.

Love the energy!
whenever I have a bad day I watch your videos they always help me. You also inspire me to paint.
Can you make a "Binge CP" playlist with all your videos on it? I listen to you while I paint and wish I had the full "box set" in one go. Love you!
Oh cool! Ok I'll see if I can make that happen 😊💛
Fabulous result! Very exciting and really conveyed the day.
I love the way you’ve painted the waves. The way you flicked your finger over them created a spray effect and looked very convincing.
Nice bit of energy in this one Mike
Thanks!
The weather made for a really dramatic scene. That sky was irresistible.
I love that one! Wonderfully wild!
Thanks Elisabeth!
Really good painting AND Really good explaining.
Thanks!
Absolutely great! The more spontaneity the greater the result. You are the champion of movement. Love it!
Love it. The water has so much energy and the color definitely conveys the mood of the stormy water.
Many thanks for hanging in and giving us a painting video under poor weather conditions!
Thanks Joyce!

😃Lovely work, can relate about the weather and making one paint faster. Only plein air painters know the experience.
Thanks! True!
You are definitely a master of speed painting and creating a great composition. Marvellous. 👏👏👏👍
Thanks Bill!
You captured the mood of the day pretty good. I also like the bright sky peeking through the clouds.👍

I love this one, all the energy and movement captured by the thick paint. ❤️ Love it!

Welcome to my experience of plein air in Scotland! I find it difficult to adjust to the colours in the Bay area when I come to visit with my son..
I like the painting very much. I do wonder what it might have looked like if the dark to the right 1/4 leaned a little more toward the dark of El Greco's View of Toledo's sky

Did you like the warm white? I liked what you did with the guest color: Turquoise
I prefer titanium white because you have the option to warm it up. You can't cool down the warm white.

Thanks Charles! Warm white does behave a bit like zinc. It's more opaque than zinc though. Definitely worth experimenting with.

Enjoyed the video and the painting. Do you every tone your panels at home before going out?
I prefer to tone on site because I like the panel to be slightly damp. I also like the option to tone in a different color, or not at all, depending on the situation.
Great painting! How much time to do? Thanks for sharing!!!
Thanks Henrique! It took about 90 minutes.
on one of your videos i saw you make on of the paint boxes like you use on your easel. Do you make them to sell. ?
What did you think of the use of the Warm White?
I prefer titanium white. You can warm up titanium white if necessary but you can't cool warm white.
