Your recipes are so approachable and beginner friendly. Most recipes scare me but not yours. I look forward to making them becausw they are so easy to follow
I made these tonight and yes they were banging, but that Chilli Sauce was magnificent. My wife loved it so much, I'm going to make a batch for jacket potatoes ready for Bonfire night. That sauce was simple, easy to make, but the flavour was outstanding. Thank you for this.
A French version: Montbéliard sausage, in Chili: use substitutes: pink Breton onion, vinaigre de Xérès, Dijon moutard, smoked chilis moule, a few haricot Lingot (white beans), vin rouge or bourbon, ancient red tomato (lower water content) a splash of fish sauce - use fresh, home made sourdough rolls.
To be honest, the talent that Jack has in creating easy to follow delicious recipes, is only matched by his talent to eat chilli cheese dogs without making a mess!! Did this recipe tonight and it was the best! (but slightly messy)
So I made this tonight. In hindsight, I should have drained the meat at some point because it was a bit oily with the 80% ground beef and olive oil. It was very good as a topping for hot dogs ( I don't love sausages). The chili had a mustardy taste which worked for its intended target (hot dogs) but on its own, I wouldn't want to eat a lot of this. I give it an 8 out of 10. Nothing tops this man's Tuscan chicken! Thanks for adding all the measurements in standard format. Keep up the great work Chef!
These sure are "cheesy" chilli dogs. Humour apart when you lifted that cover from the pan, i actually took a sniff 🤪 felt so real...and that chilli looked fantabulous. This is something i would like to eat in your restaurant some day 😍😋 Thank you Chef Jack..Man you really are taking a notch up in every new video..can't tell you how much i appreciate it.. Thank you so much for your kind words smita! Maybe one day I’ll open a restaurant, it is a plan for the future. This recipe is amazing. Even if you don’t make the whole recipe, the chilli alone is addictive 🤤🤤
Love a good Chilli cheese dog. I like to mix up the toppings sometimes just onions and yellow mustard and other times creamy coleslaw (Carolina Style Chilli dogs).

Jack, I see the improvements. The thumbnail, shows the end product with the text to go with it. On the editing side, I noticed the differences. The flips of the screen when you were at the saucepan, the camera angles. All very engaging. Working with other cooking channels, maybe this could help. What we do is "show and tell" in the intro. Let people see the end product in the beginning again. We keep the pacing up by removing some of the words from steps and instead adding them to the screen. Your video is great, would love to see some retention techniques in there.
The chili looks out of this world!!!! BUT...never in my life did I see hot dogs buns sliced on the top like you did, Jack. How clever is that?? I got a lotta learning to do from you! 💖Keep teaching me!!
Perfecto bro. The ultimate comfort. Who doesn't love chilli dogs. Reminds me of a few winter nights in USA🇺🇸. I could even miss out the buns and put the whole lot into a pie. 😆🤣
Extra cheesy ... my dear that's how I like it... just for today's pasta for lunch (which was hours and hours ago) I used 3 types of cheese cream, cheddar and parmesan .... This looks so yummy 😋😋😍😍
That looks fantastic! I would add some pickled jalapeños for that extra kick. Since we are just in time for football season in America, I think I know what I'm going to grill up this weekend! Great job Chef!
Hi Jack just a suggestion, I find blue Stilton and the chilli compliment each other well but I also love cheddar with it too! I love chilli cheese dogs and we had them for our tea this evening ❤️
Nice recipe for Chili Dogs. This could easily double as regular chili, adding bell peppers, diced tomatoes. I don't think the ketchup is really necessary since you used brown sugar and other ketchup ingredients. . At least you did not go over the top with though. Looked to me about a TBS. Not sure what you said in grams. My metric to OZ conversions are not the best, but getting better.
OMG😮....was up at 3am and decided to try your chilli dog recipe....tasted it and my mouth is begging for more (I'd eat the panful right now but unfortunately I have to feed the children 😠)
Im not American im African i want to understand why is it called "chilli" when theres no chilli/spicy ingredients in it,or in the US "Chilli" is something else?
Not american either but usually when americans talk about "chilli", they rarely refer to the actual pepper but rather just a blend of meat, a spicy sauce and other additives like onions and so on
There are chili's in it. The real name is chili con Carne, which translates to chili with meat. We shorten it down to just chili. It was developed in the southwestern part of the United States, and some will argue Texas, specifically. Over time, different variants arose all through the United States, but the name stuck.
Extra virgin olive is a finishing oil and shouldn’t really be cooked with as it’s too pure. This means it has a lower smoke point and will become bitter as it cooks and burns. It also has a strong flavour that won’t ruin the flavour of the sauce but it can be overpowering as well as easily burning
Just made it. Seemed a bit too sweet for my Texas palate. I think it was the combo of tomato paste and ketchup. Tried to add more spice to it but it just ended up sweet up front and bitter on the end.
… I have several questions. 1. _Relish_ on chili dogs? Mustard, sure, but _relish?_ 2. Why did you slice the buns the wrong way? 3. American cheese in the _buns_ as well as everywhere else? Wot?

What are your thoughts on adding cocoa powder to the chili? not a lot, just a teaspoon
By all means you can. For this recipe in particular it’s not needed. The depth in the sauce is amazing and doesn’t need anything else

Hi chef Jack. Is there any difference between slicing the ban from the top and slicing from the side?
Personal preference really. I find that the slice on the top helps hold everything in as its sitting flat.
