    As of season 4, this trigger is way better. It has a better suction hitbox and much better juggles off the level 3 version. You can now get heavy dp and ex tatsu midscreen and light dp -> heavy dp in the corner. Off his target combos -> lv3, he can juggle a heavy tatsu midscreen. Most importantly, off his anti air medium dp -> lv3, he can get medium tatsu -> ex dp, which does a ton of damage and corner carry.
    When you factor in the Season 3.5 buffs to Ken's v meter gain in corner combos and his fast v reversal, this trigger starts looking like a solid alternative to VT1. It packs a punch and does it quickly.

    Something I'm beginning to realize is that it's a way to minimize punishes after blocked dp. According to the frame data in this vid, Ryu had +22 advantage. Lp dp would leave him at +25 and it increases from there.
    Not only that, shinryuken doesn't get CC'ed when punished. So if they block your dp they can CC you when you land. But if you cancel dp into shinryuken they'll have to do a non-CC punish.
    Not sure though if wasting a trigger execution is worth it only to 'fail less' haha

      Do combo into shinryuken without dp cancel, then juggle with DP and cancel into super. That's 500 damage. Jump HK, MK, HK, V-Skill, Shinryuken, H DP, Super.
      Its hes best combo. I also like to jump Ex tatsu into shoryuken, cancel into shinryuken then rising EX tatsu. That's 380 and a full corner carry

    I've found some neat things.
    The corner juggle with l.dp can be comboed into super.
    As Genius mentioned, chin buster h.dp vtrigger2 L3 will juggle them kind of behind you, allowing for midscreen combos.
    And chin buster h.dp vtrigger2 L3 or L2, instead of using the cancel window on a combo extension, you use l.tatsu. Ken will crossup normal tech and meaty 3f normal with st.lp, and chase down backtech. Like vtrigger 1 l.tatsu chasedown oki.

    Another noticeable perk behind VT2 is it combos off any buttons and the stun is significant.

    Even on neutral jumps, the pull from VT2 is a lot larger than one would expect. Either you use the whole V-gauge for a level 3, VT2 activation and then use up the entire meter for a level 2, or as the narrator mentioned three level 3's. The big appeal is that it combos off any button and Ken thrives with his buttons.

    What load of crap! Shinryuken has always been an anti air. Why nerf it now?

      I'm a 3rd strike player and shinryuken is a really garbage anti air in that. It's not amazing in SF4 either, though at least it's invincible in that game. Just do MP DP into shinryuken instead, that works.
