  • Removing the bracelet from Omega Speedmaster Moon watch is easy. No need for a fancy 'pin removal tool' - a simple 1.40 mm screwdriver is all it takes to get the job done. Here is a 60 seconds tutorial by Nicholas Hacko, Master Watchmaker.

    The slight push is the magic. I have been trying to pull the spring bar inward without the slight push and your video really helped. Thanks .

    Nick mate! A humble 1.4mm screwdriver rather than the fancy Omega or Bergeon tool. Now I have seen everything!

    Nice! I’ve always used the fork end of a Bergeron spring bar tool. After seeing this I took the opportunity to try out a 1.4mm screwdriver, (and then give the bracelet an ultrasonic clean), and blow me down with a feather, it was far easier, and less risky, than with the Bergeron. Thanks Nick. Viva la revolution errr, rebellion...

    Great method, as long as you don’t mind scratches on the backs of your lugs. How ‘bout some tape for protection?

    This is fine if you don't mind scratching the lugs, I'd rather get a spring bar tool

    Simple and effective. I don't know why I've wasted so much money on "spring bar tools".
    Oh, hang on, yes I do. Try that technique on a Citizen AT Skyhawk bracelet with clearances measured in angstroms ;-)

    On my Speedmaster 57, the push towards me on the last link does not make any movement when the spring bar is pushed out, and I am applying lots of pressure. No idea why it does not work :(

      I have a Longines VHP with the same issue. It has to be the tolerance of the end link to the lugs. In every bracelet-equipped watch I own the above technique will work (a Speedy and 2016 vintage Aqua Terra, a few Seikos, etc). In each watch the end link has some play when between the lugs. Not with the Longines though, the link had no play with the lugs compared to everything else in my collection. A set of spring bar pliers made the job a LOT easier.

    Love your videos. Thank you so much. I have an Omega triple date MK40. on the 19mm bracelet. The springs bars are thin. Not sure they are original Omega. Can you kindly advise when I can find the correct ones? Thank you so much

      If you are paranoid or clumsy, simply protect the lugs bit of sticky tape

    Next question: what's the best solution to clean a bracelet? :-)

    • @MasterWatchmaker
      @MasterWatchmaker  4 роки тому +3

      Hi Shane- once you get it off : soak it up in warm water, ( add bit of dishwashing detergent) leave it in for an hour or so. Then clean thoroughly with toothbrush. Rinse well. DRY PROPERLY with hot air ( hot is good!) . Then dry again second time half hour later. Drying twice is important- this is the only way to remove all water trapped in the links.

    PLEASE AVOID SCRATCHES ON YOUR WATCH! If you just watched this video and want to try it yourself, then please tape your lugs with some sort of tape! I just introduced the first scratches to my brand new Omega Speedmaster by doing it the way it is shown here. The pins of the bracelet scratched the back side of the curved lugs (You can also such scratches in this video). In my case the lugs have a matt finish so you can't polish the scratches out.The scratches are in. Forever. Please don't make the same mistake as I did by not taping the lugs. If you're not sure, then have it done by a professional. In hindsight I would have much more preferred paying 20 Euros/Dollars/Whatever than having scratches now.

    Unfortunately this method will scratch the lungs. If you to this multiple times your lugs will become severely scratched.
