At the start of the video the police driver is one that needs immediate re-training and should be suspended until further assessment and training. If there is a queue of traffic that can not move, the sirens are to be switched off. They just have to wait as the public are not responsible for the local councils obstructing emergency vehicles by taking lanes away or narrowing roads. If traffic lights are on RED and there is an emergency vehicle behind you trying to force you to move, *DON'T* as you will be prosecuted for crossing the red light and possibly go to prison if you should cause an accident or run someone over. What you did is not accepted as a defence, only to reduce any sentence you get. You can not be prosecuted for obeying a road sign and not breaking the Law. The emergency vehicle driver needs to wait OR the exception to crossing a red light is if a constable in uniform stands in the road and directs you to move whilst stopping other traffic - that way it is legal to do and the PC is responsible for any injury or collision as a result of THEIR action in directing traffic. They don't like to do this! NEVER cross red lights and don't even think about driving up on to pavements either - not only will you damage your vehicle, but once again you put people at risk from injury and you have NO defence, your excuse of moving out of the way for an emergency vehicle will be laughed at and you will be held fully responsible. Emergency vehicle drivers are trained to go around you or find some other way, or just wait. It is not the fault of the public that councils restrict roads, so any anger or road rage from police drivers when they can't get past needs to be reported. They are shouting at the wrong people.
i think police cars should have some lights on the sides. in certain angles a unmarked cop still looks like a regular car. 3:34 at that angle, cars cant see shit, its just a regular bmw

OMG, UK is ruled by BMW, but sadly BMW stopped selling police vehicles in UK over just one single incident early this year. This is a blow to UK police forces as BMWs are high performance vehicles well suited to police duties and heavy use.
It wasn't one single incident. There were numerous incidences which, whilst fortunately not as catastrophic as the Cumbria incident, showed that the BMW engine was less than reliable at the intensity of high speed Police ops.
It wasn't just one incident of them going on fire, there were lots, but not everyone died. Not all of the stories were in the news. Most cars for normal use have no problems, so are safe to buy and use. It was the way the police drove them and serviced them that seems to be the problem as they were not designed to be used in such a way.

BMW isn‘t going to redesign an engine because a police force on a little island can‘t get their maintenance right. These cars with the identical engine have been are running flawlessly in Germany, a much more high-speed environment, and Australia as well. So really, not a systematic reliability issue. BMW pulled back from offering to UK Police because they were done with this witch hunt bullshit. Ironically, Police all over the UK continue to purchase BMW vehicles (because they really do offer the best performance) just not through the discounted fleet scheme previously offered.

Is it legal to fit bullhorn in your own car. I'm not sure why we have felt the need to follow the USA and now have flashing blue and red lights never mind white in some cases secondly we have so many types of horns now they could mean anything to anyone. A few of them a essentially gifted on a long term lease by BMW/Volvo/Audi/Skoda/Ford, it’s good advertising for the manufacturer and it’s helpful for the manufacturer to see how their cars standup do the heavy work. Most cars are still bought by the police forces by them selves but a few are on a long term lease contract. Volvo has been doing it for years now.

Not really. It clearly wasn't safe for the taxis to get out of the way. The light was on red for them. They did exactly what they should ha e done. Move when safe to do so.
@@doobryw538 it's always been that way. The instruction to stop for a red traffic signal is countermanded by the instruction of a police officer. It's different for fire and ambulance but you can proceed through a red light safely, when making way for the police.

The cars are supplied at a heavy discounted price. Are generally more reliable that cheaper brands so save money on repair costs. Their resale value when decommissioned is a lot higher. So not dumb at all.
