- This song was first seen in the Ming Dynasty music book Gu-Yin-Zheng-Zong. Though emerged late in the history of China, it is one of the most popular song in the history.
When you hear this song, you’ll feel as if you are in a poetic and beautiful Chinese Ink Painting. You can see a column of wild geese flying over the shoal, their reflection in the mist-covered water and so on. All these poetic imagery can bring you a peaceful and sound mind.

Guqin music (and what, in turn, the rest of Chinese Traditional Music takes after) is very special in that it is modeled after Chinese spoken poetry. Therefore, it carries the same depth as a most excellently spoken poem has. At the end, there is a silence that cannot be appreciated by applause, but by the union of the Soul & Heaven. The names of Chinese compositions and their melodies are indeed inseparable. Knowing the essence of the name is just as important as emitting the composition's emotions. The poetry may hold with it the words to arise a world, but a struck Guqin itself holds the feeling of the words melting into each other in perfect harmony, with music as its vehicle. The words of a poem may grow within you until it grows and makes you realize its essence. But, listening to a Guqin is the feeling of that spontaneous realization of the essence. This is why in the orient, the Guqin can create a tune to the idea. When you think of mist, what do you hear? You hear the essence of its moving among clouds, sky, and mountains. The working of Creation. And that working alone is praised by the Guqin. The "scratching sound" of the Guqin is the breathing of the strings.

I also like Guqin over the Guzheng. The finger style are more elegant when playing. Not a fan of the long fake nail you have to wear on each finger to stroke the Guzheng. pretty but not elegant as guqin.
@@Peechiness Both nice instruments but I also prefer Guqin. Guqin sounds more like talking to myself or a true confidant, but Guzheng is often used to please others.

I think the microphone is too close to the left hand, the left hand sliding sounds are nice but they are too pronounced. I thing it would be better if the microphone was closer to the right hand.
That’s part of the music.
While I agree they're not ideal, the mic is in that position because that's where the soundhole is.
Try to consider these so-called "scratching sounds" as the instrument's breath. It's ideal to keep these sounds at a minimum, but without them, a Guqin music would just sound different.
