Me too, I'm sorry to hear of his passing. It is difficult to quantify, perhaps insomnia is distracted if I crack the encroaching loneliness of the darkened room.
The "boy in blue" in the treasure sounds like a popular home art item my own grandparents had on their wall. It was called "Blue Boy" and was part of a set including a lady entitled "Pinky". I think dear Philip has written a story about a future visit of extraterrestrials to a burn out Earth. (If curious, search for "Blue Boy and Pinky". Yes, he's writing about Earth. Good old PKD.)
the winged figure without a head is known as the Victory of Samothrace, and currently resides at the Louvre museum in Paris, France. It's Earth all right.
The audiobook I paid money for didn't even contain the intro to the story. It started right off with "The Captain peered into the eyepiece of the telescope [...]" And the reader isn't anywhere near as good as this guy. Bah.
If i'm being honest some of PKDs early stories were real stinkers. I'm guessing this is before he found the central theme he wanted to explore. Or maybe he was kept on a short leash with what he was allowed to write.
Thanks for listening! I've set up a new channel ua-cam.com/channels/sdZtPUYYgZHjFaVSrtsG2g.html
I can't be the only one who uses these audiobooks to sleep. No offense to the voice actor, he makes a good job and I appreciate it.
Voice Artist: Gregg Margarite (1957-2012) RIP - Rest in peace
Me, too.

+Tony Smith I thought the same thing when they discovered the film rolls.
Gainsborough painted the blue boy

The reader is the late Gregg Margarite.
Thanks. I was wondering who it was.👍

🙄
Earth, the final frontier.
I like these, but I feel like every one of them should be about two pages longer.
Good story. Did I miss some of it; seemed longer when I read it.
This is a very phallic story: 'The base of the gun throbbed painfully.'
he really does this justice
This city didn't die
It was MURDERED

Yeah I like a lot of his shorts, but this one was kinda… ehhh. That’s writing though! You pump out a lot of content and learn and get better
I would not blame those unfamiliar with the work of PKD for having an inaccurate impression of what they were about to hear.
- Maybe you can form a search party and hunt for “legumes “- on a slag encrusted wasteland. Ha !
Hand light? You mean flash light
I'm sure this is a metaphor for something... I just don't know what.
