RIP , Leon. You have left a huge legacy in your music and your style of entertaining. NH
This is my favourite Leon Redbone vocal - it's just so elegant, so melancholy, so lovely! Smooth and nostalgic, with gorgeous clarinet and piano. I often wonder how a version of a song released in 1935 could have such an effect on me.
But then, Leon does that to you - all the time...
The dew is hanging diamonds on the clover,
The moon is listening to the nightingale
And while we're lost in dreams, the world around us seems.
Like a Lou'siana Fairytale.
The wind is softly singing thru the willows,
As hand in hand we stroll along the trail.
And love is at its height, enchanting us tonight.
Like a Lou'siana Fairytale.
Is this real, this fascination?
Are my dreams holding you fast?
Are we here on a plantation?
Or could this be heaven at last?
Keep dreaming with your head upon my shoulder.
And don't awake until the stars grow pale.
The world is at our feet, the picture is complete.
Like a Lou'siana Fairytale.
His voice his like honey.
Can't get enough of listening to your low voice...love it...So laid back and mesmerizing....I.wish I could have seen you perform...all the best...xxxooo
Saw him live, what a talent. A very dry sense of humor. He would sit in his chair and shine a LARGE flashlight into the audience as if he was looking for something. VERY sorry to hear of Leon's death, we will miss his great talent
Such beautiful music. Thanks to You Tube and other media, we will be able to enjoy LR for years to come.
"keep dreaming with your head upon my shoulder" Love this song.
The perfect music for sitting next to my favorite Redhead lady with the lights on low.....
Oh.... beautiful!!! A voice like a bass clarinet, then Bob Gordon's wonderful Pee Wee Russell-inspired real clarinet - what a perfect match!
RIP Mr. Redbone a great one
Rest in peace, Leon.

Wow. Thank you Leon.
I first heard of him at a party many years ago when a friend played one of Leon's albums. Unforgetable voice! I still find it so distinctive! Regards from Australia.
I just love this version-thanks!
Funny, I always just knew this as the theme to "This Old House". Never knew it had words. Guess I have to pick up an album I missed.
daclyde I didn’t either until I searched and found Fats Waller’s version, Look it up on UA-cam, enjoy!
@@ktsoscale The Fats Waller Version was the one used on This Old House.
the bottle line he was the best i live in south louisianna from upstate new york for 43 years and there is no place like this
Mais pourquoi, je découvre Léon seulement maintenant ?
RIP Leon ... 💜
That unusual clarinet is my friend Bobby Gordon in chalumeau as he learned from Joe Marsala. He and Leon had survived a plane crash together.
This is THE version of this tune. Love. I listen to this all the time and can memorize the clarinet, too. Butch Thompson?
carolcheny Bob Gordon on the clarinet
I am here because of Norm Abrams
Very pleasant low baritone. But as to tempo I more like Fat Waller's one
