People in the comments saying this car is "slow" are useless trolls. It does 0-60 in under 5 seconds and runs the 1/4 mile in the low 13s. That's pretty damn quick for a midsize sedan. These B58 engines make big power with simple mods.
I’m kind of torn on the 5 Series to be honest. On one hand, I appreciate the conservative style and nature of it with so many other car companies trying to stand out for the sake of standing out. On the other, though, I wish it still had the athletic bent that previous generations had and I wish they’d evolve the interior design just a little further. I think I’d choose a different entry in this segment personally, but you can’t go wrong with a 5 Series.

It’s a mid life facelift so the interior won’t change to dramatically. I can see the next model being a total overhaul of the interior, probably similar to the latest X5
BMW’s interior design is way behind that of Mercedes and Audi. I own a 2016 BMW and honestly think the interior looks the same with this one...it’s just sad
Keep in mind too that Mercedes has all the screens and all the tech. BMW is geared more towards the driving enthusiast with all the info needed without the large screens. BMW also says that all that ambient lighting isn't good for your eyes especially driving at night, so they keep those to a minimum. Audi has all the tech and it's usually in the gauge cluster. So I would agree BMW is "behind", but it's also good for the people who don't want all that tech, just hope in and drive!

Another engine choice for Europe and not for the United States is the 530d, which uses a 3 litre diesel. Also, I put the normal 5 Series on seriously uncool, cos one uncool UTuber from Colorado has one (even though he’s got the F10, not the G30). I am not including the M550i, M5 or M5CS on seriously uncool.
The 540 is more luxurious and not as sporty, where in the 340 you can get the M340i which gives it that power. Smaller sedan and more sporty! But I can see why you could see the 540 having more power because the number is bigger!

It looks more sporty but less prestigious. And $75K is way too much for an aging model due for a all new generation. Anyway, 5 series and 7 series depreciated at an average of $12k-$15k per year. In 36 months you can buy this car for a sweet deal.
Great review Mike. I really think this 540 is a great car it sounds good. I think it's the perfect entry point to get into a decent 5 series. I'm dont think the 530i should exist. Just my opinion though.

Actually BMW has been in the top 5 the last few years. Right up with Toyota. Keep in mind Toyota owns a stake in BMW now. All depends on what you want to own and drive
i got quoted on one 2021 540i m sport for 2000 down 650 a month, not bad especially knowing i got a 2021 m235i gran coupe for 700 down 640 a month, i would've definetly went for that if i knew they were handing out great deals like that! thinking of trading up tbh and this video only proved why i should!

The RWD traps 109mph too which is freaking quick. S3/S4/S5 traps 107-108 so a little slower than this car
The facelifted 5-Series is really a complete car. M550i for me please.

Yeah this is not a performance car. The M550i is the comparable version to an M340i. This has the same power plant as the 340i but weighs more

It has a dual exhaust system, I believe one side is only active in the quieter mode and then sport opens them both up.
