I love how xiaowei dances here but after watching the rest of the episodes, I feel like she's either not putting her 100% into it or she's been feeling overwhelmed/stressed lately. Her rather recent performances lack passion, which is very well presented in this performance in particular. I hope she can solve this problem..

very berry yeah but for some reason the Chinese netizens are voting for the girls with scandals. All the girls with scandals are doing well in ranking. One girl accused of dating and using Kris Wu for fame, one accused of abusing her bf, etc. but they’re all doing well. The next ranking is tmr so maybe it will change
i really do think duan xiaowei deserved the A grade here, even without her japanese hand dance. her performance here was so good. her expressiveness was great and her dancing is really enchanting. the arms are fluid, precise and the lines are extremely clean. she incorporates her entire body into the movements so it looks like a complete performance. wei qiqi vocals were breathtaking and her expressiveness was on par with xiaowei. her vocals gave me chills. i believe she deserved the B grade. but there’s a very clear contrast between the two’s dancing. they danced every move on the rhythm but the details in each move were very different. right off the bat you can tell xiaowei’s stronger at dancing; her arms are swift and reach every position, but kiki’s arms are a bit slower and don’t hit every move. 0:24 xiaowei crosses her arms and kiki doesn’t, 0:26 xiaowei has a fancy transition. 0:37 xiaowei opens her arms above her head. 1:49 xiaowei swings down and bends her neck back up but kiki moreso positions herself only.
I really like Kiki Wei’s vocals, but it sticks she didn’t make it into the second rounds. I don’t think the other one is going to make it into the next round because it looks like her past scandal is pulling her back, but I see a lot of potential in them, especially if they ever become a group in the future

So despite she is pretty and talented, the scandal really makes her image looks bad, especially if she wanted to become an idol in the future. But yea, Kiki Wei's vocal is really something. YWY was a rollercoaster for Xiaowei Duan. In the beginning she had confidence and strength, but duuring the show and voting she became introelverted, stressed and she completely lost herself. In the end it got better, especially because of Xin liu, but I sincerely hope that she is doing better now does someine has any information?

I really like Duan Xiaowei, especially her interaction with Liu Yuxin! Many people say the show wasn't giving her many opportunities. But to be fair, the show was really good to her, giving her a second audition performance, and quite a few camera focuses too, but it's just that during the competion netizens dug up an old photo she posted where she pretended to be a Japanese actress or something and photoshopped her moles on to pose as her, and then netizens went outright ugly on her and then she lost all confidence and became really depressed so the show couldn't really give her more focus cos she didn't want it, but then came Liu Yuxin who picked her into her team even when she didn't sing for her and then from then on really motivated and encouraged her and she started smiling again. I'm hoping thanks to Liu Yuxin, Duan Xiaowei can really get get her confidence back and bring out her talent! Liu Yuxin's speech for her really makes me cry everytime i watch it, wishing she can be happy even when she's not by her side anymore.
I think she is going to be and is an amazing artist. In this profession, performance and dancing and singing and making it look cool should not be everything. Understanding emotions behind what you are trying to convey is very important and I think is vital. She didn’t just perform a cool Japanese sign dance to attract the audience, she understood the meaning behind it and immersed herself in that emotion. I think that is very rare. Sometimes I don’t even see that quality in some of the mentors like Kun and Lisa’s performances, they make it look cool and fancy or sometimes perform because they are forced to perform that song (like Kun mentioned once to Xiaotong Zhao about the time he had to perform PPAP). For all of you out there, I am not pointing any hate at them, in fact, I think that lacking this quality is fairly common among current artists unfortunately and it is not a good thing. I hope what Xiaowei Duan demonstrated helps other artists realize the importance of this quality, and maybe help them improve their work.
