Can you drive this in Shanghai without a driver's license? A colleague thought that, based on its description as a motorbike and not an electric bike, you needed a license. Also what do you mean by complaints about quality control of the NXT on social media? Ie, what are they complaining about? Really appreciate your comments!

@@danczaj Yes, you don't need any driver‘s license to drive this bike in Shanghai. The Chinese national standard of e-bike is useless in actual. It’s very hard to find an e-bike that meets the national standard(25kmh limitation, riding pedal equipped, i.e.) on the road.

@@ericm9219 Great to hear - thanks! My e-bike now goes comfortably comfortably over the national standard. But any thoughts about the complaints about this guy?

Do you get 75kmh real world? Or just on the stand? If you don't mind me asking, around how heavy are you? I'm thinking about upgrading from the mqis2

it can reach 75 kmh in boost mode, which can get a higher power output for 5 seconds but will have 20 seconds cool down after use. Normally the full speed is about 60 kmh without boost. Do you live in china? I noticed that there are quite a lot complain about quality control of NIU NXT on social network, if you live in China I think ninebot Dz110 might be a better choice, it is also a chinese e-bike with higher performance and bigger battery, the only cons is the linear ABS system, it is not as good as the normal motorcycle ABS on NIU NXT. By the way my weight is 75 kg.

@@ericm9219 thanks for the reply, yea I'm in Beijing. I've always had Niu bikes since I got here but these days like you said I heard a lot of good things about the ninebots too. I am a bigger guy though so after the "new national standard" it's hard to find a bike with decent acceleration. I'm 100+ kg so it's also a bit annoying to have to charge outside every day especially if it's slow charging so that is one thing that caught my eye about the nxt. I used to have the N series from niu, it was perfect before they changed the rules.

@@otakukj the e-bike rules force 48 volts battery, which is not friendly to heavy loads and hard to have a quick acceleration, and there are many other restrictions. There may not be a better e-bike than the previous NIU N-series before the rules change. Higher voltage is necessary if a better acceleration is wanted, from this perspect, lead-acid bettery is another choice. 72v lead acid bettery is widely equipped on ebike in most place of china, and there are also some people choose higher voltage third-party batteries and motor controller to improve the performance but it also come with safety risks, since the third party batteries are not as good as the originals.

@@ericm9219 Do you know anything about the lead acid battery swap stations? A buddy of mine said he's seen people with nxt swapping at those kind of battery stations that the waimai people swap batteries at.
