My dog (60lb pibble) got ahold of one today when walking her on a leash. Somehow she dropped it when I yanked the leash (harness) at being startled, and it didn't appear harmed. It was just really mad, chattering and trying to look tough. I pulled her away and it went back to it's business.

Yes, they are ground squirrels (here in AZ they are called rock squirrels). They are 'barking' which is common behavior when they sense a threat nearby, such as a predator

Why is it that youtubers always gets Prairie dog and ground squirrel confused with gopher but never the other way around? I mean simple googling of gopher will reveal what they look like in 5 seconds instead of spending an hour of editing a falsely titled youtube video then uploading it.
