honestly, the biggest problem wiht trickstabs is that so many people know about them that you can't trick them anymore. the skill floor for this kind of stuff is much higher than it used to be
As a spy main, my best advice is to not worry about trickstabs. Get better at cloaking, not bumping people, throwing people off your trail, managing your cloak meter, and most importantly paying attention to what's going on around you. Spy is not called called "sneaky scout" for a reason. You're supposed to use your cloak to spy on the enemy and then you can make decisions based on the information you gather.
(I.e. A heavy is pushing towards my team and would make a great target, but there's a skilled enemy sniper that might shoot me if I were to try, so I should just go take out the sniper first or find something else to do instead of decloaking and dying instantly.)

@@jargozle5393 People equate a calm video made by a 40 year old man about how he does a few stabs in his casual pub games so that a new player can maybe kill a gibus pyro chasing them and consider it heresy because it isn't calling new players bad or attempting to teach them how to be as good as a Platinum spy main at the very least when that wasn't the goal of the video. To anybody who still gives that video flack, most people just need enough advice to make it by on a garbage upward pub where half the players are trying to fish kill people. Like you are free to say that his video isn't the end all be all or even close, but to say it is bad because it doesn't go beyond like... what you learn after a 100 hours or so on spy doesn't make it a huge fucking deal.
4:20 and thus, Starryknow was born
Funnily enough, I watched all of Cul Dul Dud’s videos and it kind of helped! I can sometimes do trickstabs. His whole circle strafe shenanigans sometimes work, but only on some players. That’s basically spy for me. It sometimes does something that works
"but only on some players" = I can't deal with certain movement levels. Honestly his model is all encompassing if you include 4.1,2,3,4 because those are just extra tips, for the most part all you want to do is learn when to go forwards and backwards, when to go glue, and when to stick to A/D keys
I doubt you fully understand them, please don't watch them untill you are already really good at spy
And they aren't trickstabs per se but ways to abuse the enemies movement

A good spy rarely goes for trickstabs. Though it is a good trick under your belt to get out of dicy situations or if you are totally going to die.
Indeed. The easiest spy players to kill are those who try going for stairstabs, corner stabs, and sometimes matador ones. It can be all shut down by just standing still and watching them dance.
However, some of the hardest spy players to kill (besides interp abusers) are ones who not only know game sense and how to properly act, but those who know how to circle strafe, and strafestabs are infinitely harder to counter than a simple stairstab could ever hope to be.
@@yo_tengo_una_boca6764 honestly so are just jumpstabs, a good spy knows when to matador (almost never), when to circle strafe (almost always) and when to do cheeky jumpstabs (whenever you have a tiny bit of elevation)
