I bought the Esee 4HM because it came with the kydex sheath and does not have the finger choil giving me more usable blade. Perfect knife for hunting.
I've considered picking up the 4h to be honest. Looks really comfortable.
@@5MinuteKnives I added some TKC black G10 scales to mine because (apparently) blood and micarta are not compatible.

I like the size and fit in my hand. I don't have large hands. The blade retains it's edge and is almost maintenance free. Regards...Tom@@pole_barn_builder

I've recently bought the ESEE 3 and 4 in S35VN. While I can understand the handle size of the 3, Using the same dimension handle on the 4 is a bummer for me personally. Having XL-XXL Sized hands I can see why TKC offers extended Scales. Thanks for video
Totally. My hands are med-large, so it's still comfortable for me but other wise I'd need the extended grips too. How's the s35vn on the esee?
@@5MinuteKnives I've been struggling through some health issues this Desert season, So I haven't had a chance to really use it.
That being said, I gifted my daughter the TOPS Camp Creek S35VN a couple years ago. She's an avid climber and is off grid a couple weekends a month. It's her primary Camp/Cook knife and has beat the snot out of it.
The original edge took a couple chips, But after getting through the fatigued steel, The S35VN has been stellar, Even making kindling! I know it's a different company, But the heat treat is probably comparable at 58-61!
@@knifevideochannel4657 Awesome! (And sorry about your health issues.) I noticed The becker line in 1095 will chip here and there but it hasn't happened on my Esee knives yet. Maybe that's the fabled Rowen heat treat at work?
A simple paracord wrap on the handle makes the kobun waaaaay better in hand. & from my experience a very capable camp knife, definitely far from a glorified letter opener. That being said the esee 4 is still better.
I think a fatter handle would've really help it (I feel the same way about my SW Shield). I think it was more the hollow grind and steel choice that made me sort of turn my nose up at it... and I own an Esee 4 but if the Kobun was the only knife you had, I completely agree that you could do a lot worse. What kind of material do you use for the scout carry sheath ? And if you're doing leather, could I get it in black, with a Ferro Rod attachment and a Wet Stone with a pouch for the Wet Stone ?

I’m looking for a fixed blade hunting knife. Would an Esee 3 or 4 fit that roll for mule deer and elk? I have a 6 but I don’t use it much.
I have 6-7 esse knives and the 4hm is my favorite.
the 4 hm has been recommended to me so many times now. I gotta look into it...

as you know, i'm in florida,, it's almost 3pm, on sunday jan 9th,, about a half hour ago, the esee 4 hm was ordered from knifeworks, i'll get an email when it ships, hopefully no longer then a week, it was $99.95,, free shipping, your version is $104.95 on their site,, so i saved 5 bucks, micarta scales without the choil and kydex sheath, an excellent companion knife,, once i get it and defend myself against a few man eating , giant butterflies, i'll update you on my thoughts,

Hi, im new at outdooring and wanted to ask if it is worth buying an esee4 for doing not too much hard work with it. And if so witch one of them is the best, if now what knive u would suggest. Greetings from Germany and PS. Ive not got that much experience with knives and dont know about steel or such things.
Thanks for tuning in David! No problem. I don't know what the costs are overseas, but right now, you can pick up an esee 4 in the states for $120ish. If you head over to theknifeconnection.com I'd encourage you to check out the knife builder feature so you can customize yours somewhat. I would DEFINATELY get a version with 3d g10 handle scales though. It makes a lot of difference in comfort for me. But yes, with the no questions asked- lifetime warrantee you get from Esee and the Esee 4 being a total workhorse, I would recommend it for sure. Thanks for asking.

It was at the time. I certainly do but many of the knives on this channel are on loan from Bladeops so I need to return them when I'm finished.
Esee 3 or 4 as a good edc for farming ?
Perfect! For farming tasks (I grew up on a small farm) I would go with a strong folding knife though with partial serrations for twine. CHeck cold steel out for that. The esee 3 is amazing but with the flat grind, 1095 steel and cost, I would say there's much better more affordable options for famers. Remember, NOBODY beats up tools like farmers, so get something cheap, folding, and rugged. Appreciate the question! 👍

@@brandonc223 because something hanging off your hip will get caught on stuff all day and you don't want that when you're jumping into farm equipment and throwing hay bails around. The Esee 3 sheath is plastic and will get damaged easily and is more expensive than a heavy duty folder that will tuck into a pocket and can handle it (like something from cold steel). Also, are you okay?

@@5MinuteKnives i will, i love the blue scales on yours., i'm liking the venom green too, but the HM comes with a kydex sheath, the plastic 1 works, but i like kydex better,, i'm saving my allowance now :)

to be blunt, the Kobun (which I own) is to stick people. watch Lynn's videos he's cutting meat (hint) not paper.
Exactly. The thin grip concerned me though for edge alignment and better grip during the "stick" while wearing gloves. I liked the knife, it just didn't fit into any of my systems or POU's. Thanks for tuning in!
@@5MinuteKnives It's perfect for myself. I have 4 or so fixed blades in my EDC depending on potential use. (I don't go around sticking people ha) I like the kobun particularly because it is so flat. it fits in that small gap just in front of my pistol that a wear in the 4 O'clock position. another one that I like is the TOPS Rapid Strike...looks like a steak knife
@@heaththompson3834 under 6" is perfect for a vest knife too. I recently picked up a Hill People Gear chest rig (review incoming) but I love that for mounting a knife too.

You can’t use a firesteal with the Esee
True. You could probably grind a spot for it fairly easily. Not an issue for me though. I generally use a firesteel with a dedicated starter or just use a lighter. Thanks for tuning in!

Third copy of the Esee 4 I've owned. I owned most of the line at one point. I use this knife (see my esee 4 sheath giveaway video) nearly every day now.
