You know how useful a fadeaway is??? Its one thing to have one if you're a big man with no range. But its another thing to have one when you're a spot on shooter with consistent 3 point range like this guy is. I can't believe you ignored the fact that this guy is an excellent jump shooter. Even if he never develops any big man play what so ever, he can still be effectively used as a roll playing shooter... instant offense. The fact that he has potential as a big man is just icing on the cake.
Houston did very well in this draft... this guy looks legit, and Chandler Parsons has a complete game. People say he doesn't do anything great, well, he can hit 3's, pass better than most guards, attacks the glass for rebounds, and is unselfish. He's also more athletic than people think, watch a few of his dunks that can be found on youtube. The Wolves could have had Josh Smith for the number 2 pick. Kahn must have been huffing paint. However, the Wizards did quite well. Vesely is a stud.
I think what you guys missing here it's his perfect penetration ability (thanks to perfect foot work) while being 213cm and his quickness. You're talking about his shot, but it's not his main weapon. This guy is really quick and can go any way he likes (despite he's lefty), can make lay up with any hand. I imagine him getting so many players into foul trouble, and he can surely nail his FT. Sure, his defence is an issue, no doubt, but he's still one of the most interesting versitale prospects
He's going to pull out of the draft most likely. Doesn't matter he is too small to be a defensive force for anyteam. He would be another Memo Okur at best. Big guy who can hit 3s.
I saw his handles. Pretty good for a 7-footer. His touch is nice, much like Nowitzki's on his early years. Lots of room for improvement. I hope he attacks the rim like Gasol.
He's not yet ready for Barselona or other big Euopean teams. He signed Kauno Aisciai instead of Zalgiris that because he could play more minutes. He doesn't want to sit on the bench.
He reminds me of a Yi Jianlian, Charlie Villaneueva type of power forward who can do everything pretty well. Turkoglu, Nowitzki type floor game but more athletic. Showed some good post moves too Pau gasol-esque. The kid looks like he's got a lot of tools to work with. He's tall and looks like he can put on weight, plus has agility and very nice hands. Could be a top 3 pick.
It is hard to determine whether he is a gift or buzz so far; Because International players always go to different way; There future partly rely on how the team utilise their talent and skills. Dirk , Manu,Nene ,Parker ,Pau , Yao etc... Those players first year numbers are not very good in people eyes , but now they become a key players, and superstar level in the league It can be some of the players said, hard work pays off -.-
Hmm, I like this guy. Since the bull just got a 1st rounder from the bobcats maybe we can get lucky again and pick him up. I like this guy's personality, you don't usually get international players with swag. He's like Dirk but with personality and better footwork (dirk was clumsy when he first came)
its basically impossible to compare him to anybody..... but the most i see in him is dirk... hes a big european that can step out and hit the midrange to long range with good effeciency. can drive to the basket and get to the line very well.. has great footwork and hands (like dirk). a difference tho is he has a good inside post game.. not necessarily fundamentally like a player like tim duncan but uses finesse and quickness to get past his man inside... much like kg except not nearly as good.
OKC needs a shot blocker, if this kid goes there he will be wasted. Donatas is the type of player that needs the ball in his hands and with Durant he will not get that chance
i dont understand the obsession with big men who can do guard moves....as a raptors fan, bargnani does not equal wins give me a traditional banger with power moves any day over these finesse big men
@Kurasuke I think Bargnani is demostrating he's not so bad...certainly not at the size of Dirk or Pau...but he's becoming a good player, expressing his really big talent!! and about Darko...he's the right player, in the wrong league!!in Europe he should be a star!
That's nothing, cause they played against team that is being trashed by 100 points (youngsters playing), but he had 18 points and 7 or 6 rebounds in close win by 2 points in the last game. So he's doing good lately.
i think this guy was better than bargnani when he was coming into the draft he actually can post up and use someother moves tht bargnani couldnt the only reason why he is 7th is cuz of a strong draft class
@NBAdraftRoomcom Yes, but you also have to consider the needs of the other teams, it's not like he's a John Wall (disregarding the position) who anyone will pick regardless of the position they need. He will suit best with the Rockets though, at pick 11.. The Rockets badly need support for Yao Ming. They've never really had a good back up for him. That's if Yao Ming will play this season.
@TheEphixx That was how 2009 was too... Everyone thought it was going to be a shitty draft class, aside from Griffin.... Look at B. Jennings, S. Curry, T. Evans, DeRozan....They're respective players, who have incredible potential. They've shown it for 2 years now.... So don't judge a draft untill AFTER the rookie year of their class.
@2221alex The 2006 draft at least had Roy, Gay, Rondo, Aldridge and Redick. Apart from J.J., these are all (future) All-Stars and the franchise players of their respective teams. I don't see much potential for that in this draft
also, not to say dirks inside post game is bad because its actually great.. he just doesnt use it as much as this kid... which could change when he gets to the nba..and no i dont compare him because hes white. i compare him because hes a very very similar player. maybe if u knew anything about this kids game u would realize he plays quite a bit like dirk
go watch a vid of dirk ad the reebok euro camp.... almsot exact same game... lots of whiteboy moves.. although donatas probably had a better postgame at the time..
He's not going to last nearly that long, regardless for which draft he declares. I like him with the Bucks pick at #10, if DeMar DeRozan isn't still on the board.
there was an earlier match between an lithuania won and stats were equal between these 2 players, in the bronze match valanciunas didn't play that good, cuz his teammates sucked that match. Kanter teammates didn't suck
cristiano9 yea there's some good ones but thats only a handful, a lot of them are soft and dont know how to play a lick of defense all they how to do is shoot 3s , you have 7 foot euros shooting 3 but don't know how to box out and grab rebounds, its useless having a center or pf that stays behind the line all game, winning starts with defense and a lot of these euro players don't know how to play inside they just park it behind the 3 point line while the other team out rebound there team.
@chip916916 He's def not gonna be a post guy anyway (at forst at least) I imagine he'll be a good shooter and maybe he can develop a shot off the dribble.
Obviously you don't know a single thing about Lithuanian players or to put it widely East European prospects. Sabonis at his age wasn't bigger than Motiejunas, as well as Ilgauskas looked so thin while being 18, but than they became tough centers. Motiejunas actually might end up as PF for NBA with his versatility, but he's already stronger than he is this video. I think you guys stuck with NCAA where players filling up while being the kinds.
man idk bout him its like a couple of post before me amare would make a joke of him cuz i think there are a lot of guards that he can post ........im a kings fan .....he cant post tyreke at this point of his career lol it could go both ways tho if he gains like 25 pounds 15-20 being solid muscle then he will be a problem in the league ...in a good way but if he does he wont have a huge im pack but from what i see ........ he might score but idk bout his scoring cuz 19 isnt that great
@Kurasuke sorry...terrible at everything? 21.5 ppg, 6 rb/game, almost 2 apg...I think it's not so terrible!and all of this in a team that is really a disaster!playing in the East don't help players become more tough, everybody knows it!Dirk was working since the first day against West teams, that are (since 2000) more difficult to beat than the East ones!same as Pau! and Bargnani knows what's important, on NBA...scoring! let's get the rebounds to someone else who got no talent for other things!
@mikeyjames:,"he gets to the NBA and he starts facing real defense" ahahahahahahah real defence ? you got to be kidding me ... If there's something that most NBA teams don´t have, that is defensive skills or technique ... I'm a fan of NBA, but common, defense isn't that good ...
You know how useful a fadeaway is??? Its one thing to have one if you're a big man with no range. Arvydas Sabonis he was a "HUGE" international player, one of the Greatest international players of all time
Houston did very well in this draft... this guy looks legit, and Chandler Parsons has a complete game. Luis is his favorite NBA player, small world now they are team mates GO ROCKETS!
Ilgauskas was a star player in NBA at his prime, no doubt about it. All star member as well.
I'd say his game is a mold between Gasol's and Dirk's...very versatile, could be NBA star in a making
Sure, his defence is an issue, no doubt, but he's still one of the most interesting versitale prospects
i may say he can be the next Toni Kukoc. He can handle the ball and with that range.
He's going to pull out of the draft most likely. Doesn't matter he is too small to be a defensive force for anyteam. He would be another Memo Okur at best. Big guy who can hit 3s.
he said his favorite player was luis scola! now scola's gonna mentor him with the rockets! Welcome to H-Town!
bargnani's problems aren't on offense. He's a good, potentially great offensive player. He just doesn't get it done on the boards or on defense.
Ibaka is from Africa not Europe. He's not European, but he does have a residency in Spain.
italy deserves mention too
I saw his handles. Pretty good for a 7-footer. His touch is nice, much like Nowitzki's on his early years. Lots of room for improvement. I hope he attacks the rim like Gasol.
Milicic has been playing a lot better since he's been with Minnesota so I would probably tone down the hate
He's not yet ready for Barselona or other big Euopean teams. He signed Kauno Aisciai instead of Zalgiris that because he could play more minutes. He doesn't want to sit on the bench.
i really hope 76ers get him they need a big man
kawhi leonard and donatas ARE COMING TO THE WIZARDS! WOOT!!
He's staying in Europe for one more year, that's the fact.
Btw motiejunas just signed Treviso Benneton from Italy. Hope, he gets time to play
It is hard to determine whether he is a gift or buzz so far;
Because International players always go to different way;

WOW. WORLD TEAM WON THAT GAME!
Hopefully the pistons can draft this guy, an hopefully he will help break the curse of darko.
@nauxolo
This video is from 2009. Now is 2011.
its basically impossible to compare him to anybody..... but the most i see in him is dirk... hes a big european that can step out and hit the midrange to long range with good effeciency. can drive to the basket and get to the line very well.. has great footwork and hands (like dirk). a difference tho is he has a good inside post game.. not necessarily fundamentally like a player like tim duncan but uses finesse and quickness to get past his man inside... much like kg except not nearly as good.
he has the moves like Dirk.

i dont understand the obsession with big men who can do guard moves....as a raptors fan, bargnani does not equal wins
give me a traditional banger with power moves any day over these finesse big men
i wouldnt take him first overall but if he is there with our 2nd top 10 pick then i want him
Looks like he'll be in the Garden next season
its like if u mixed dirk with some1 who has good post moves too..
@Kurasuke I think Bargnani is demostrating he's not so bad...certainly not at the size of Dirk or Pau...but he's becoming a good player, expressing his really big talent!!
and about Darko...he's the right player, in the wrong league!!in Europe he should be a star!
reminds me of toni kukoc.
he's going to be a great player... no doubt.
@nauxolo did you remember dirk when he first stepped on nba?
He'll stay in Europe for at least another year, almost no doubt it will be Lithuanian club.
no way to phillie with 16 pick he is top 10 prospect
He will replace Z perfectly. lets go cavs
ROCKETS will pick this guy!!!!
Hopefully he not gone by then
future blazers start power foward amazing
That's nothing, cause they played against team that is being trashed by 100 points (youngsters playing), but he had 18 points and 7 or 6 rebounds in close win by 2 points in the last game. So he's doing good lately.
Ideal fit for Hornets at 11.
@mikeyjames dirk is soft ? tony parker ? bargnani ? sabonis ? divac ? stojakovic ?kukoc ? smits ? pau ? rudy ? big z ?
i think this guy was better than bargnani when he was coming into the draft he actually can post up and use someother moves tht bargnani couldnt the only reason why he is 7th is cuz of a strong draft class

Find it ironic that the mock drafts project the Pistons to get him :/
Welcome to Houston Donatas
Good luck .. just be yourself
the next drik nowtizki
Correction : it's "NBA fan" instead of "fan of the NBA"
Damn, Demarcus Cousins messes him up at 1:42
@2221alex The 2006 draft at least had Roy, Gay, Rondo, Aldridge and Redick. Apart from J.J., these are all (future) All-Stars and the franchise players of their respective teams. I don't see much potential for that in this draft
Man he is skinny. Too bad the Knicks traded away their 2010 pick and it's unprotected now, D'Antoni would be all over this guy.
was the demarcus cousins he bodied at the end lol
@TheEphixx yea i understand but its better than the 2006 draft for sure
also, not to say dirks inside post game is bad because its actually great.. he just doesnt use it as much as this kid... which could change when he gets to the nba..and no i dont compare him because hes white. i compare him because hes a very very similar player. maybe if u knew anything about this kids game u would realize he plays quite a bit like dirk
@ExtrinsicOne He can be a decent nba center, its more about the calibre of players he was drafted over.... wade, carmelo etc.
Please Cleveland get this guy!!!!!
he might stay another year
most likely gonna be rockets 1st round pick this year
1:45 DeMarcus ?
go watch a vid of dirk ad the reebok euro camp.... almsot exact same game... lots of whiteboy moves.. although donatas probably had a better postgame at the time..
He's not going to last nearly that long, regardless for which draft he declares.
I like him with the Bucks pick at #10, if DeMar DeRozan isn't still on the board.
he will not participate the 2010 draft he said 90-10 he wont which i think is good coz he is young only 19...
anyway he is playing for spain so that means he is spanish
@2221alex
Strong draft class? Are you kidding me? The 2011 draft is actually one of the weakest in a long time..
Another?Another like Dirk?Like Ginobli?Parker?Ibaka?Gasol?Omar asik? What do you mean another euro bust?
Welcome to Phillie!
the next dirk nowitzki,i guess.
Suns need a guy like him. Hopefully the Suns draft him. He looks like a bigger taller Goran Dragic? Am I wrong? LOL
there was an earlier match between an lithuania won and stats were equal between these 2 players, in the bronze match valanciunas didn't play that good, cuz his teammates sucked that match. Kanter teammates didn't suck
@lBlElN I think he said scola
@mikeyjames yeah that post up was kinda garbage, i'm hoping he moves well enough and shoots well enough to maybe be a dirk
He should go to the Rockets, so they can have the International Twin Towers :D
i was thinking the same thing
agreed. good assumption.
His favorite NBA player right now is who?...scolabulus
OOhhh damn he's gonna put houston back on the map. Look out Lakers, Look out Dallas because sooner or later Houston is coming back to town!!
Sixers need to make a move on him
don't be fooled this guy will not be like nowitzki, he's way to slow to be the kind of player nowitzki is, he's more like a Primoz Brezec with a shot
i could see him being a productive player like ilgauskas not a star though.
good fit for the spurs cos he can shoot tres!
Hes going to the Rockets case closed.
paper with his name on it...lol
its called a poster
cristiano9 yea there's some good ones but thats only a handful, a lot of them are soft and dont know how to play a lick of defense all they how to do is shoot 3s , you have 7 foot euros shooting 3 but don't know how to box out and grab rebounds, its useless having a center or pf that stays behind the line all game, winning starts with defense and a lot of these euro players don't know how to play inside they just park it behind the 3 point line while the other team out rebound there team.

@arnas0905 and hopefully he can rebound a lot better than bargnani too

Haha! ORDER your Jersey now MikeyJames! Here is your future raptor
Slotted 11th raps at 13 its gonna happen! Catch the Fever!
Looks like baby Dirk too me.......76ers please
@vmstudio2001 He will be in Golden State buddy. He even talks like our bedrins lol
man idk bout him its like a couple of post before me amare would make a joke of him cuz i think there are a lot of guards that he can post ........im a kings fan .....he cant post tyreke at this point of his career lol it could go both ways tho if he gains like 25 pounds 15-20 being solid muscle then he will be a problem in the league ...in a good way but if he does he wont have a huge im pack but from what i see ........ he might score but idk bout his scoring cuz 19 isnt that great

how do you know? we will see, when they play eachother, ok? btw another lithunian talent valanciunas is as good as kanter
Suns plzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz !!!
scola luis
@mikeyjames:,"he gets to the NBA and he starts facing real defense"
ahahahahahahah real defence ? you got to be kidding me ... If there's something that most NBA teams don´t have, that is defensive skills or technique ...
I'm a fan of NBA, but common, defense isn't that good ...
@Francozilla future NBA bust im afraid.
