The mom takes no accountability for her action , the daughter seems so sweet and seems like she really wants to fix the relationship with her mom. It’s just so sad honestly we have be better as black women
The mom is treating her daughter like she’s some chick on the street. This situation is super unhealthy and the daughter should probably separate herself from mom. Therapy for both is a must.
I'm a 45 yr old man, and I've never felt secure. I'm sitting here literally in tears because this episode made me realize that the odds of ever feeling security is close to none! What a super hard pill to swallow!
Man I hate to read this. I can’t imagine or fully understand, but I seriously hope you find some security within yourself. You deserve it, 45 or not ❤️
Just reading this comment from another black man to admit this brings tears to my eyes too because I relate so much. In the black community it's damn near taboo to say anything negative about your mother no matter what they do to you. A mom can kill their child and the community will be like "Well, they must've done something to deserve it" 😮
Lawda mercyyyy... Rightttt.. Or "that's still yo mama"... Yup and she will ALWAYS be, I'm mature enough to understand I do not need a relationship with her..
The mom is so disconnected from herself and her own emotions that she can not emotionally support or see her daughter. Trauma is so damaging. I hope they find the healing they need!
this makes me feel so blessed to have my mom. she’s really my best friend & to think it’s mom’s out here like her who don’t deserve the right to have kids. her trauma is no excuse to be taking it out on a child. at her big ass age she need to go to counseling.
An to be honest there's a lot of mothers like this in the black community which is crazy to me because your creating trauma for your child that affects them in their adult life!!!!
It's a generational curse. A Lot them were taught to be a "strong black woman" and "niggas ain't shit" so they past it on to their off spring. Sad really
My mom put me thru some shit as her oldest and doesnt like to listen to what I have to say. The only reason im even in contact is because of my grandmother. Unfortunately some black women really are stuck in their ways even with the tools in front of them
I could be wrong, but I believe the mother is stuck in her ways because she's stuck in her trauma and she doesn't have the tools to get unstuck from her trauma. Everything that has transpired between them, both mother and daughter, is a trauma response to what they both experienced. I feel so bad for the daughter because i believe she loves her mother and has clearly been traumatized by her mother's trauma, and she feels helpless. It's as if she has survivors guilt, but whenever she tries to communicate her feelings to her mother, she gets shutdown so she just completely shuts down. My prayers go out to her and her daughter and i hope they both are able to get the help they need. ❤❤❤
So far, you are the only one on here making sense. Both of them need some work. She is not going to stop being her mom. Stop taking sides because both of them need our prayers.

This is a sad reality for a lot of black girls/women including me. My mom is around the same age as her mom and she acts the same way. It’s really sad and incredible how alot of women from that decade share the same characteristics. They never see any wrong in the things they do, it’s despicable. I’ve seen a couple of episodes on her where the mother is the same as this one and the child is the one seeking hello/therapy from Karamo. I pray for the daughter because Lord knows it’s hell dealing with a mom like that, especially when she doesn’t take accountability or apologize. And make you seem like you’re over reacting and sensitive💔😩

Every time I see someone with a terrible relationship with their mother I get so emotional. I cannot imagine having a mother like this as a daughter. How awful & tiring. 🥺 I seriously hope this girl heals & distances herself.
As soon as she said "you're too sensitive" I lost it! This was the relationship I had with my mother and she used to say this shit to me all the time! No! We are not too sensitive it's that we constantly bring the same shit up over and over because you as parents can never take a moment to reflect on your actions and account and apologize for the trauma and pain you put us through! It's not about sensitivity it's about accountability, without that accountability we have a harder time letting go and moving forward. It really is simple parents if you say or do something shitty to your kids acknowledge it and own up to the mistakes you have made and work to change it so the relationship can grow and flourish. Instead of raising us as broken people learn to fix yourself and your own generational trauma before you destroy us completely because that is how we are left broken and alone trying to put a million pieces of our traumatized selves back together. If you cannot do that then don't get mad at us when we leave and don't show you the respect you seek. I don't care what type of authority figure you are parent, teacher, etc. Respect is earned not given, you cannot expect respect from somebody (in this case her daughter) if you (the parent) don't give it in return. We are human beings first and labelled child second. In my case I left my parent home 10 years ago because I could no longer take the abuse from my mother and her refusal to acknowledge not only the pain she put me through but her own pain as well. I am certain had I not left I would not be here right now, I tried to end my life because of this crap. No person, man, woman, or child should ever be made to feel like they are not worth living or loving (that's how my mom made me feel). Although I have come a long way (with therapy etc.) I still have moments of struggle and I am very much still a work-in progress despite 8 years of therapy. People don't realize how detrimental this is for us as kids this type of abuse and trauma shapes things for us later on in life, things are much harder for us later because of it. Yes the physical abuse hurts but the mental is so much worse, and is the hardest to work through and get over. That shit sticks to us like a virus that won't quit and we carry the aftermath of that chaos for the rest of our lives despite coping mechanisms. Words matter, words mean something so please choose them wisely especially when speaking to your children because sometimes if you go far enough those words hurt beyond repair. I hope this young lady leaves if she has to and finds peace in life, I hope mom also comes to terms with herself, looks within, and gets the help that she needs so that she too can be at peace as a person with or without her daughter.
There are not enough words to describe how toxic, immature, inconsiderate, careless, and disrespectful this mother is to her child. It just breaks my heart to the core.
Girl, you need to pack up your bags and start a new life without your mother... I am so sick n tired of all the hugging towards the end. It's so fake and insincere just like the word "I'm sorry" for only the person to go back hurting you again.
1. I completely understand that the mom may be emotionally stuck at 17 still however you're no longer 17 you're an adult now. You are old enough and competent enough to know when you need to get therapy for your trauma not pass it onto your child the behavior exhibited today was extremely narcissistic 2. I'm SO so sorry to the daughter; as an oldest daughter and first child I completely understand what you're going through I truly hope that you get through this love and get the healing and help that you need to heal from all that traumatic stuff
I felt this! I lost my mom almost a year ago and I’m glad her last few years we were able to learn how to love each other and respect each other’s differences before she passed. This hit home! Every child with parents who are u stable never feel secure, at any moment we can get a call. Sadly I got the call before my mom got the therapy that she desperately needed. It’s sad but hurt people hurt people, and being a mom is just a title.
This mother chose the life of having her daughter at 17 and staying with an abusive man. She doesn't need to visit that on her daughter!!! This mother is brutal. Words cut like a knife!!! How dare this mother strangle her daughter and put her hands on her daughter!!! She didn't need to have children if she doesn't want to treat them correctly!!!
When my mom found out I was self harming myself she told me to “stop crying you did this to yourself” and yelled at me all the way home… it was the worst feeling ever she didn’t hug me or cry or anything just was angry
😢 I am so sorry that you were treated that way by the one person in the world who is supposed to love you the most 💔. I pray that you find peace and healing regardless 🫶🏾
I’m so sorry you experienced that love 😢 That anger was directed at you but she was not mad at you, she’s angry with herself because she failed in some way as a parent. Either way she should have never yelled at you 🙏🏽 Many blessings to you love
I’m sorry you’ve gone through that, I want to encourage you that you are loved and Jesus Christ died on a cross for you and love you so you can be redeemed from sin and be in alignment with the Father ❤ you have a purpose and plan to fulfill ❤ ”For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.“ Jeremiah 29:11 NKJV
My favorite thing I heard from a therapist is “Every behavior is a need trying to be met.” This mom has clearly been through a lot a trauma and looks to me like she takes any opposition to her as a threat, and something in her feels like she needs to protect herself, even if it means getting violent with her child. She needs some serious therapy and healing so she too can feel safe and secure, because she’s clearly unable to provide a safe environment for herself or her child.
When she cried about having to defend herself from the mother she loves hurts me so much… parents so toxic they don’t understand whatever we go through.. I’m your child. I love you. I need you. Guide me😭 that pain will never heal
I know that feeling all to well and I know that I will never get it. So I nurture the Lil girl in me with music to calm her soul. I also talk to her and say that what you felt then were valid feelings and that it's okay to feel hurt, to feel angry, to feel sad. Whatever it is that you're feeling, it's okay and she will be okay too. When I do this for my inner child, it helps me to move on even knowing that the little girl in me will never get the reassurance from my mom. It's okay, I'm okay, and my inner child is okay too. ❤❤❤❤❤❤
the way the mom came out and was IMMEDIATELY confrontational and defensive spoke volumes. She immediately went to work at trying to invalidate her daughter.

Owww Jesus.. A word a word! It's been 2 yrs for me... And ppl make it like "but that's your mama" and I say EXACTLY, that's what I'm saying.. She is my mom and should know and understand it's NOT OK to be treated or spoken to like that and to save the BOTH of us, I rather lay down my boundaries and be happy and healed without her relationship bc that will ALWAYS be my mom.. I'm sorry. I would not be dealing with this woman
No wonder why We as Good Black Men choose to date other race. We got no time for nonsense with Black Women, If Black Women would leave THUGS, GANGSTA SWAGGERS, RAPPERS, DEADBEAT DADS Alone then this wouldn't be the case
The mom did open up at the end..... Life made her hard but she does have a soft heart ❤ she just needs healing with her daughter ❤❤❤
So sorry for that ! I hope you one day find the comfort and security you desire .
Man I hate to read this. I can’t imagine or fully understand, but I seriously hope you find some security within yourself. You deserve it, 45 or not ❤️
Just reading this comment from another black man to admit this brings tears to my eyes too because I relate so much. Had a horrible relationship with my mom who was extremely manipulative and abuse... still shames me to say this due to the constant backlash "How could you say something negative about your Mom, you're ungrateful...etc.."

Mom is super toxic. From the moment she walked out and opened her mouth, nothing but negativity came out.
My whole life I was told I was too sensitive but as the oldest child I was the second parent. I was the one who went through & saw everything with my mom so this episode definitely helped me realize I struggle with feeling secure as well. Wow Karamo you did it again!

Yeah. I was told the same thing. Only to grow up realizing it was an emotional manipulation tactic so that I wouldn’t point out the unfair treatment I was receiving. We were never too sensitive. Only misunderstood.

I’ve heard that at a young age from mother & brothers & now im aggressive at times but I’ve learned to navigate it & just be mean
This mother is very ignorant. The fact that she's treating her daughter like a woman on the street and she thinks its just a result of getiing "angry". Nah thats not anger, thats abuse, disrespect, and ghetto
The daughter acted like a woman in the street when she got up in her mother face.

Yes!!!
When ppl say you’re to sensitive that’s gaslighting & invalidating their experiences

Or that’s your mother but let a father do anything even if he’s a good dad the whole community will kick his ass to

Thissss omg
The mom is so disconnected from herself and her own emotions that she can not emotionally support or see her daughter.
Trauma is so damaging. I hope they find the healing they need!
Her mother is ignorant and immature. I'm ashamed this is a peer of mine. She is a disrespectful person.

We all need healing ..... We all have childhood trauma.... It's so horrible to just judge without feeling empathy 😢

Factssss
An to be honest there's a lot of mothers like this in the black community which is crazy to me because your creating trauma for your child that affects them in their adult life!!!!
It's a generational curse. A Lot them were taught to be a "strong black woman" and "niggas ain't shit" so they past it on to their off spring. Sad really
Exactly and they always tell you to get over the trauma
they don’t care.
My mom put me thru some shit as her oldest and doesnt like to listen to what I have to say. The only reason im even in contact is because of my grandmother. Unfortunately some black women really are stuck in their ways even with the tools in front of them
Can we just acknowledge how beautiful the daughter is🥰 I hope she’s found peace and is living a happy life with her baby❤️
Stop taking sides because both of them need our prayers.

yup! generational curse is hard to break but the mother should be willing ESPECIALLY if she sees that her daughter is hurt beyond repair.

I'm glad you empathize instead of judging ❤ it's rough!
The mother has a problem. She needs help. She wants control.
just when i was boutta say that one girl needed a hug so bad , he gave her one ♥️🙏🏾
I started crying when the daughter said “mom I wanna feel more secure” I felt that to the core omg😕💯
What you say!!!!! I totally agree 💯
1. I completely understand that the mom may be emotionally stuck at 17 still however you're no longer 17 you're an adult now. You are old enough and competent enough to know when you need to get therapy for your trauma not pass it onto your child the behavior exhibited today was extremely narcissistic
Awww the girl in the audience broke my heart🥺 it’s sad to know other people go through this pain when nobody should have to
When my mom found out I was self harming myself she told me to “stop crying you did this to yourself” and yelled at me all the way home… it was the worst feeling ever she didn’t hug me or cry or anything just was angry
I’m so sorry, I hope you’re in a better place now
I’m sorry you’ve gone through that, I want to encourage you that you are loved and Jesus Christ died on a cross for you and love you so you can be redeemed from sin and be in alignment with the Father ❤ you have a purpose and plan to fulfill ❤
”For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.“
Jeremiah 29:11 NKJV
My favorite thing I heard from a therapist is “Every behavior is a need trying to be met.” This mom has clearly been through a lot a trauma and looks to me like she takes any opposition to her as a threat, and something in her feels like she needs to protect herself, even if it means getting violent with her child. She needs some serious therapy and healing so she too can feel safe and secure, because she’s clearly unable to provide a safe environment for herself or her child.
She stated on Instagram that she had a great childhood.

This is such a reminder that deep down we all have an inner child still looking for our parents love and nurturing. Even as we grow up.
I know that feeling all to well and I know that I will never get it. So I nurture the Lil girl in me with music to calm her soul. I also talk to her and say that what you felt then were valid feelings and that it's okay to feel hurt, to feel angry, to feel sad.
