Hi! :) I wanna ask what/who is your final authority according to which you discern? You were mentioning that you kinda read the Bible through the lens of your experience? (Do I interpret that correctly?) I like Tim Mackies from The Bible Project explanation: "The Bible is not a rule book but a framework which gives you wisdom." I think we are just not taught in churches how to read the Bible and how to understand it...
Hey! Oooo re: Tim Mackies, I like that. Great question btw. In terms of discernment, I would say it’s the Holy Spirit (Gods Spirit) within me is final authority. I use the Bible as a guideline to make sure what I am experiencing lines up with the Bible. One of the purposes of Jesus death and resurrection was so that he could give us the Holy Spirit, it says in John 14:16-17 “And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate, who will never leave you. He is the Holy Spirit, who leads into all truth”. I suppose I then need the Bible to test that spirit. But I believe what Kevin was getting at is, people often elevate biblical verses and passages without the spirit. Am I making much sense here? Heh 😅
I think Kevin forgets where Paul says in Galatians 1 that he was given his knowledge by Jesus Christ. He says he studied with him 3 years in Arabia before returning to Jerusalem. So when Paul says scripture is inspired, I'd take his words rather seriously if you have faith in the bible. There is a lot in the bible that I don't like, sometimes it's downright offensive. We all have different desires that go against God's word. However, the moment I put my faith in Jesus, my own desires don't matter anymore. Some days the desires win, some days they don't. I thank God for his grace everyday regardless. I pray you keep seeking the truth, quit seeking a church that affirms who you think you are and instead find one that affirms who Christ says you are. 1 Corinthians 6:19-20: "Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies".
Christianity for those who want to sin but be told it's fine. The man really thinks Jesus was okay with prostitutes continuing to do sex work after repenting.

Hey, thanks for engaging. I don't think that's a fair assessment of his main point.
