I can vouch for Shieldguard... you've got him at 50, so you didn't actually max yours out, but he's a reliable carry for the early game that doesn't require a ton of resources. He could solo Easy and Normal Clan boss to 30 turns in the free Lifesteal gear you get in the first 7 days. The return for the investment is better than the legendaries that you include on the list.
You underestimate just how many Champions you need for both difficulties of the Cursed City. I'm pure f2p from the very start, a year and a half and I have just beaten Amius on Hard and 4 times on Normal. Right now I'm maxing several Rares I had sitting at 50 for months in order to push into Hard Soulcross.
That said, any Legendary is much, much better than a Rare, especially if they have 'all battles' aura, like Yannica does.

Yes, scyl of drakes. I already have a really well built Elva Autumnborn. I just got scyl, and was excited as everyone says shes so good when you get her, I built her out and hardly find anywhere to use her. I already had barb factions wars cleared due to the free barbarian leggos lately, now scyl just takes up gear.
