Haley, Underneath Arc’teryx jacket what light jacket did you use for the summit night? Did you use any fleece jacket? What thermals do you recommend? And which fleece balaclava did you use?
Hello! I wore a Patagonia down vest and Patagonia Thermals. I did not use a fleece jacket. The Arc’Teryx jacket I had with the Patagonia Down Vest was plenty! I have the Stoic Sherpa Fleece Balaclava. Hope that helps ! Good luck in January! ☺️
Hi, it’s me again 😊, did you end up using Atom LT jacket on the hike? I am looking for mid layer jacket and considering Atom LT. I have one light down jacket but need one more for mid layer.
Hello ☺️ I have two Atom Hoodys and absolutely love them. They would be great for Kilimanjaro since they are light in weight ! Most of the hike, I only wore a Patagonia long sleeve Capilene with a Down Vest. Side note, I do recommend an Arc Teryx Rain jacket over Patagonia tho. The Patagonia Rain Jacket I had at that time was not very good. I have since upgraded to ArcTeryx which has not disappointed ! Hope that helps! Good Luck!
@ ok. Thank you so much for all the tips. I will look into ARC’TERYX rain jacket. For mid layer I have Mountain Hardware light down jacket and want to add a fleece or Atom hoody. Trying to decide between the two. And I also got Andessa down jacket for summit night 🙂 (I run cold) they are almost out of it by now. And looks like you did not wear Atom jacket on summit night.
Thank you for watching! We just recently trekked Kilimanjaro in October. Our summit day was October 17th, 2023 😊 Summit night was cold but we had the proper gear so we did not feel as cold as others did in the group. Good luck to you when you go! It was an amazing experience.
