They said consumers. People buying 10k bikes are consumers just like those buying 1k bikes, other than the amount of disposable income and spending priorities. If they tried to claim this was some form of value proposition, that’s a different matter.
As an owner of a Diamante and Diamante SV, I'll be getting one of these eventually. Such a fantastic company. I broke a steerer tube on a Diamante and Basso didn't have any forks left in the warehouse so they handmade and hand painted a fork for me and shipped it to my house. Customer for life.
Francis, if you're gonna be in AZ for a bit, a trip to Tucson might be worth a trip. It's only a couple of hours down I-10, and there's some awesome riding with less traffic than what you see in Phoenix: Gates Pass, McCain Loop, Kitt Peak (true solitude!)......And Fair Wheel Bikes is in Tucson. FWB is pretty legendary bike shop. And if you're feeling scrappy, there are some awesome group rides.
Basso bikes are very good for the price. I bought a Venta Disc in 2023, it was 1950€ for a full mechanical 105, so cheaper than Canyon for an italian made frame. And it ride like a charm. But it is small, I usualy ride 55-56 bikes, and I had to put a 140 stem on it, because it was dangerously short.
Everyone crying about the price... Basso makes more affordable models like the Venta and Astra for the rest of us, that are also amazing bikes. This model SV is their top of the line which competes with the other big brand, uber-priced frames. Made for consumer just means the geometry is more comfortable and relaxed while still being really fast and blah blah blah. lol.
they complain on every price and every bike that is not free or exclusive for cheap-4ss dudes. They just need to get a proper job, reduce the fat and increase their flexibility to ride any bike other than a city rental.
Yeah honestly this isn’t aimed at anybody I know personally. Even the extremely serious riders in my city are absolutely not riding bikes anywhere near this price. I haven’t seen a bike in the last year that I can confirm costs more than $6k. You need a serious amount of disposable income to justify this. I’m feeling guilty about looking at a bike that costs less than half of what this costs.
The bike in this build, you’re right. Classic marketing gimmick or mistake often also regularly made in the car world - make the review model the top spec with all the nice options, so the reviews are better and it catches attention, but with the risk that the price puts people off. What the car industry does though is they give one price, that of the lowest model, and add the word ‘from’, so at least you know there’s a cheaper model. That said, this is clearly aimed at the premium end of the market.
The defining factor is its endurance geometry. Shorter reach and top tube with a taller stack height and longer headtube makes the rider’s position more relaxed than the aggressive long and low of the Pros in the world tour.
@@joules2936 and they never show you the cheaper model. They display the one with all the options. It's called marketing. Like what they're doing with this bike. Nice bike! If it’s too expensive get the ultegra equipped bike. It’s a lot cheaper and in the blindfold test I doubt you could tell the difference. Don’t ride your bike blindfolded!😂
Their page with handlebar figures is a mess. The Fuga chart lists reach in degrees instead of mm. There's no mention of stem (the stem part of the integrated handlebar) height nor angle. Those things are key in order to know what final stack I can end up with!
I understand such seat tube angle puts you closer to front end but my understanding of bike fitting is that you should first set your position in regards to BB. Otherwise you may end up with sliding towards hadlebars and having too much weight on hand even if you have quite upright position. Or am I wrong? I am short guy with relatively longer legs and I struggle to get my saddle back eneugh even on bikes with 73.5° seat tube angle. The time I saw all of the youtubers came out with their video with the title “superbike for consumers”, I know it wasn’t…
This bike is not for avarage consumers, it’s for old rich blokes around Lake Garda and Como. They buy it and ride it like 3 times a year.
And Basso isn’t in the world tour because of cunsumers? What BS! They aren’t in because even with 10k priced bikes, they don’t have enough capital.
Anyone else waiting for a tour of the local 7/11?
Feels like I'm watching an expensive ad.
First, are you allright, and when will come review of scott addict rc. Have nice day.
There is no way id buy a basso instead of a pinarello dogma😂
Depends on taste. The Basso doesn't look like someone left it outside in the sun for too long :D
@@irfuel Agree. Dogma is a dog's dinner. I'd even take this Basso over a Colnago. Just need to sell my car.
@@markrskinner😂😂
looks like new elves vanyar 😅
Pinarello talon ultra light handlebar cost $1500???Lol
I thought willier was French, but is indeed "Italian"
Wilier, acronym of "W l'Italia LIbera e Redenta"
Pedal placement. ASSO.
Nice bike 🤑🤑🤑🤑🤑
Automatically put on ultergra or 105. Only top racers need dura ace. Save thousands.
Ultegra version is 7949 euros
Still not 10000 something, that's all I meant. It's not for me or you it sounds like.
@ No. I bought a Basso Venta disc at 2400 euros. It's transformed my cycling. I don't get home in pieces any more, even after very tough rides. I think the SV is an alternative to the Diamante Basso's top of the range. Other than price, to justify an SV I'd have to be much younger, fitter and faster.
You also don't 'need' Ultegra or 105, you posh poseur you.
I'm a pleb..I'll stick to my Boardman hybrid 😂😂
