True but with some nuances. The Emirate of Dubai is building a waste water treatment system to eliminate the orange trucks from the city, besides the system will recycle the water for irrigation systems for locally produced food. Speaking of that, there are more and more projects focused on that, many big supermarkets have a great selection of local fresh products. Transit is an issue, specially of you live outside the JBR to Downtown line. But the Metro connects the suburbs of Deira, where most migrant workers lives, to key places around the city, employee transportation is further helped by the use of shuttle service provided by employers departing from the nearest metro station. The government is slowly putting more laws in place to guarantee workers rights and tracks down those companies who disrespect the laws. Interesting fact but most of the companies/individuals that mistreat their migrant employees are migrants themselves. Rich Indians are the ones that fly their own people to the gulf countries and slavenize them. It’s all about how you see things, the city grew too fast and little to no attention was given to basics, like how to deal with waste water, flow of people, etc. Remember that European cities had centuries to evolve to what they are now, and American cities, that are much younger have in some level the same issues. Brasilia, a city built from the ground up in the 60s is just a nightmare when it comes to some key aspects that makes a city more docile to it’s residents. My grandma’s neighbor would leave home at 4:45 to get to work at 8 by public transport. The poor woman would get home at 7PM.
That excuse about poor treatment of workers, "It isn't us, it's the people we employ to mistreat workers" is straight out of the local slave owning culture. Also that old cities went through worse, ignores that this is not an old city, it is modern, with huge amounts of money thrown at it by central authorities with absolute say. No excuse. Just one polluted sh!thole.

As someone who has lived in dubai for 7 years (sad ik thankfully leaving in 2 years tho for uni) the city is terrible when it comes to the people living there especially the transport. For example lets say I wanted to get to my school in academic city from mirdif without using a car. First I would need to take a taxi to the station because the buses in the areas people actually live dont arrive until 11pm, then I would need to take the metro for a while and then just to make it worse I would need to take another taxi to school because no, dubai architects, not everyone lives in bloody sheikh zayed road
Thank you for pronouncing sheikh correctly. Also I’m a Dubai native and I also think our city is terribly designed not to mention the shit construction material used in all the new houses.
Cleaner is a nice way to put it. It's sterile like Singapore = boring. As if no one have moved in yet. People generally prefer cities like New York or Berlin.
It’s not that desert sand is too big, it’s because the grains are too smooth. Beach sand is more varied in texture so it can stay together more easily. It’s the same reason why beach sand is used in construction and not desert sand.
Truely one of the most hideous cities in the world. No connected sewage system laughs it a joke.🤣🤣primative. One of the worst issues is the lack.of green. Flora should be at the forefront of development to make the experience of living in a 50 degree Celsius oven more pleasant.
I have been to Dubai and New York. You get faster from one place to another with the metro than New York. Cleaner and safer. I can tell you Dubai has not started yet. So much coming. I love both cities. The architecture in New York is more enjoyable to look at.
Dubais sky scrapers are on another level. However New York Manhattan for me remains unrivalled as a city globally if we are to factor in all round amalgamation of culture etc. As a Londoner I love where I Live but for a ncie change New York is my American cup of iced tea 🙂☕👍
In New York you can often walk to get everything you need for your daily life. In Dubai you more or less need a car. Even with the metro. Two completely different types of cities. Dubai is more Brasilia/functionalism/Soviet suburb - designed to look good from a map or from a helicopter. No one with the first idea about city planning had a say. Not somewhere you want to live. New York (Parts of, the popular parts) - more like traditional European style. Oh Dubai has started, and everything they're doing is in the wrong direction. Kinda like Egypts new capital. It's as if they took a look at what makes cities great and decided to do the opposite.
When I lived in the Philippines I met many families whose family members went to this area of the world for work in hopes of supporting their family back home. Many of them told me about what you describe in this video. So sad.
Times are different nowadays, industries our starting to grow within our borders, our economy has been growing 6% consistently , and manufacturing and service has been growing, where the largest commodity we export is semiconductors and computer chips.
It’s so sad. Why anyone would want to visit or live in that Slave state is beyond me. Saudis are the most proud and arrogant people that would gladly hurt you
@@ilikeplanes4955 They were hired, under the assumption of it being a regular employer then they take away their passports and threaten/harass them to work crazy hours followed by abuse. They are then forced to live in squalors and the Saudis hand pick the woman for disgusting things. I’ll never set foot on that Golden turd of a country.
There are several other factors not included in the video. -It has taken only around 30 years to build Dubai, whereas cities like nyc took way way longer. - Confiscating passports from immigrant workers is illegal and if you complain to the authorities action WILL be taken. BUT most workers don't complain since they cant afford to and this is their only job. -There are underground metros in Dubai. -Crime rates here are really low and its one of the safest countries for women. -There was no tax here till 2018. Its was completely tax-free. After 2018 5%VAT was introduced. (Which is not alot compared to other countries.) And tourists can refund their VAT. -Less than one percent of Dubais GDP comes from oil. -A NEW sewage system is being built currently. (completion by 2026) And poop trucks are not used for every building in dubai since there is already a sewage system its only used for some skyscrapers.
Good comment. Though one must note that while Dubai’s economy is not oil based (it’s based on banking, tourism, real estate, retail…), the money to build Dubai in such a grandiose manners still came from oil, which once constituted over 50% of its economy. Also, considering that Dubai is just a part of the larger UAE, it’s obvious that a lot of its prosperity did come from oil.
I hope Dubai becomes better as a city because I’m not one of those that just sh*ts and whines about everything, especially when it’s a non western city. I’ve been to Texas and wow you literally need a car to go everywhere in most big cities haha
Yeah and everyone shits on Dallas too. Look at Shanghai, Tokyo, São Paulo, NYC, London all are mega cities but you can get by in all of them by public transport. Those are true cities. First of all the metro is made only in Dubai with tourist in mind ... not for regular day to day ... every 2 km there is metro station. 1 km for bus station and taxi present in every road... every road links with the sheikh zayed road and most of the cities are built around it ... it is very well made and organized.. there are expectations for the country as it’s the most expensive city in the world.... and population is realitively less .. I know this as I live in dubai
Dubai is definitely NOT the most expensive city in the world LOL. I've done my fair share of traveling and can name about 20 other cities that are far more expensive than Dubai.
new york isnt as bad as u think they have very dense and walkable neighborhood, improving bike lanes and their subway even with some fair share of issues is still very reliable and operates 24/7. All of this that I mentioned is nonexistent in dubai

I mean the bus infrasture is pretty good I have used it regularly as a residence and in conjunction with the metro (which is very new, made in 2009 and is still expanding) it's a pretty good system. The metro and bus fares are cheap especially if your a student compared to most other countries. I know its not the best in the world but its pretty damn good. The buses are always on time and are extremely clean. The metro is extremely efficient , bus transfers from and to metros are free and there is generally a bus stop for every 5-10 minute walk. I'd say its pretty damn good not perfect.
The people who make these videos are just jealous. They’re mad their cities are rat/cockroach infested, have homeless drug addicted zombies walking around, are extremely crime ridden, dirty and have crumbling infrastructure.
New York is the best city in the world by far! Along with London and Shanghai. But one point for Dubai I have is the sewage system wouldn’t have worked for them due to lots of drilling and loose soil base on the geography of the city(a desert) it’s unfortunate but they had no choice.
Not true at all. London is a shithole. Central London is roughly 20 minutes wide and you should see the state the rest of London is. East London, west London, gangs, south London etc. There are many Asian mega cities that are far better than London and New York.
I never like cities like this. Gorgeous outside but putresant inside. I love cities look futuristic and livable like New York, Chicago, Syney, well-planning cities.

You know Dubai is bad when it’s being compared with poorly constructed American cities
Bro, Houston is a disaster. And they copied it.
Words from gold.

I'm Philippino and work in Dubai, and he's absolutely right.
Those South Asian workers who get abused and stripped off their human rights, it happens to them on ghe hands of rich South Asian investors in companies that are fully managed and operated by workers from those countries.
The government is indeed responsible for monitoring and legal accountability, but let's not blame it all on them.
You won't see that happening to SEA and sub Saharan African workers in Dubai.
I'm sure those immgirant workers *cough* will be getting a fair treatment and wage from your blame deflection and bs.
@@morceen Its 200% the governments fault. They are not so dumb that they have no idea what is going on. They just don't do anything because they benefit and Islam allows for slavery. The fact that slavery is practiced in Dubai is completely on the government.

I was in Dubai at the start of the year and the design of the city is TERRIBLE! I heard a city planner call it "pigeon shit design" because of the way it's randomly splattered. It's designed for buildings, not people.

Some points are on point. Great video bro.
Next I’d like to see the terrible design of the New York City.
I think there's worse than New York in the regards of design, despite its problems.
Los Angeles can be even worse in terms of its design (look at the massive Interstate 405 that still has traffic jams).
You talked about labours from Pakistan being forced to work in Dubai. You should go to Pakistan and see the situation, people can't earn anything because there are no jobs and sometimes its even more unfortunate because they have payment insecurities even after getting work. The scenario is much more terrible in their own country that's why they decide to go to Dubai.
yep atleast they have a place to sleep place to work a job this guy is so stupid lmao
True.
That gives them the right to abuse…your like the Isreali fat guy that’s in the backyard for the Palestinian family house camping telling her “ if I don’t take your land someone else will” if Pakistani are so desperate to work there why take their passport why not let those that want to stay and work in those conditions stay and the ones that don’t let them leave

As someone who has lived in dubai for 7 years (sad ik thankfully leaving in 2 years tho for uni) the city is terrible when it comes to the people living there especially the transport. For example lets say I wanted to get to my school in academic city from mirdif without using a car. First I would need to take a taxi to the station because the buses in the areas people actually live dont arrive until 11pm, then I would need to take the metro for a while and then just to make it worse I would need to take another taxi to school because no, dubai architects, not everyone lives in bloody sheikh zayed road
seems biased
U seem butthurt
Ye He just wanted to glorify the american cities while 99% of our cities suck ass and are worse than Dubai
Thank you for pronouncing sheikh correctly.
Also I’m a Dubai native and I also think our city is terribly designed not to mention the shit construction material used in all the new houses.
Dubai may not be better designed but it’s better managed than New York. It’s much safer and cleaner.
Then what's this 2:29 . Unlivable conditions, low wages.........
It has zero culture. It is also depends modern day slavery.
ehh
Cleaner is a nice way to put it. It's sterile like Singapore = boring. As if no one have moved in yet. People generally prefer cities like New York or Berlin.
Dubai doesn’t even have a sewage system.
Someone’s mad jealous lmao
It's going to be such a waste of effort and resources if it turns out like Spec Ops: The Line.

Why not?

I have been to Dubai and New York. You get faster from one place to another with the metro than New York. Cleaner and safer. I can tell you Dubai has not started yet. So much coming. I love both cities. The architecture in New York is more enjoyable to look at.
Dubais sky scrapers are on another level.
However New York Manhattan for me remains unrivalled as a city globally if we are to factor in all round amalgamation of culture etc.
As a Londoner I love where I Live but for a ncie change New York is my American cup of iced tea 🙂☕👍
@@The-Great-Brindian Dubai has some interesting skyscrapers but imo the classical gothic architecture of NYC is infinitely better

That said, I still want to visit Dubai someday. It looks cool.
I'm so glad there are more ppl who see Dubais true side.
Why do people hate a city which it’s rulers are doing they’re best to make gender equality and donates a lot to our Africa
(completion by 2026)
And poop trucks are not used for every building in dubai since there is already a sewage system its only used for some skyscrapers.
Good comment. A lot of videos completly ignore Dubai's advantages because of a stupid trend to hate this city.
@@piratsn yeah no idea why the west hate and criticize Dubai so much when their own country itself is build by colonialism, blood & slavery.
Exactly! They talk about Dubai even though they've never visited.
Istg... More people needs to see this comment
2020 proved that even relying on tourism is dangerous.
So, in short, Dubai is just a Big Amusement park that looks like a City? 🤔😅
Why would you go there? No history, no natural beauty, no sophisticated locals. Middle ages state of mind with a/c shopping and heat
So, now that they have a diversified portfolio they can begin investing in other infrastructure projects. Hopefully that includes sewage.

@@R7EM21 hi clown! 😊
This is not true since I am a Pakistani immigrant and in the UAE not everyone is forced to go to labor camps and work to construct buildings

The sewage system was fixed almost 4 years ago people are still spewing out the same old news.

They’re mad their cities are rat/cockroach infested, have homeless drug addicted zombies walking around, are extremely crime ridden, dirty and have crumbling infrastructure.
its the first time i know that dubai have no sewage system or network.
New York is the best city in the world by far! Along with London and Shanghai.
But one point for Dubai I have is the sewage system wouldn’t have worked for them due to lots of drilling and loose soil base on the geography of the city(a desert) it’s unfortunate but they had no choice.
