This makes a lot more sense than ‘up and down’. I’ve been trotting for weeks but I can’t for the life of me keep my legs back. When instructors tell me to push through my legs and go up, that’s kinda what I do. I almost push into my stirrups and try to stand up. But then I end up standing too high, bouncing down, and my legs are all over the place. I will try this more relaxed ‘forwards and backwards’ method next time to see if it works!
My trainer told me the exact same.. to basically stand up in the saddle... why do trainers tell us to do this when every single video shows us not to do that at all... I'm so confused.. Will defo give the hip thing a try on my next lesson..
@@chelseasmith2346omg same I was putting all my weight on the reins, losing balance to basically STAND UP cuz my trainer said so. I will try forward backwards now too
again great video hope we are going to see a lot more from you. I find watching you on the horse just as good as listening to your explanations. Thank you
OK... I've literally had my first riding lesson today, and they made me do the rising trot (yes on my very first lesson)... The trainer kept telling me to stand up in the saddle.... to go up and down... using the stirrups to stand up and sit back down.. she never explained about following the leg or anything like that.... or about moving forward using my thighs instead of my lower legs.. I was bouncing.. and i felt so bad! I did eventually get the trot but clearly not correctly at all.. although she said I did really good... basically the trainer got me to trot the way that every single advice video i've watched, has said not to do! So why is my trainer telling me to do that? How can I approach her on this? As I don't want to seem like I know what I'm doing when i've only just started, to a trainer who has worked in that field for years 🙃
I have the same problem. My trainer is in national team and got me trotting on my first lesson, saying stand straight up. But all I see on the internet in people going forward with their hips. Idk what to do
great video! i cant get my body to rise at the correct angle with pelvic tilting forward and back again. i feel lkie im rising up and down in a straight line and coming out of the saddle too high
Glad you enjoyed the video . Yes the microphone was having an off day that day :( need to buy a new one but with no lessons on in lockdown I can’t afford it 😂😬
I also had a light bulb moment, I suspected I was doing it wrong and I just couldn’t figure what it was exactly but now knowing it’s forwards and backwards it makes a lot more sense 👍
Hi there. Is it okay if I create little bit of hollow angle while rising and straight spine when I come to sit? It is very hard for me to rise with straight soine. My instructor told me you should only move your core and your spine should be in straight line whether you are rising or sitting. But, I can see even you are making bit hollow arc while you are rising.I m so confused😢. Can you please help me out. Cheers
This is the best video I have seen to help with the rising trot. Thank you.

This is so helpful. Thank you 😊
Can I ask....so when you get up or go forward, do you then put some of that weight on your stirrups to help you balance? Only when you're up?

Zara - very nice video.. would it be possible to show us how you collect the horse so well.. it seems to come naturally to you
Yes I’m filming next week so will do this :)
Loved your video-I had a light bulb moment with the hips going forward instead of up and down. Microphone was a little in and out though.

Already one out on my channel if you go through the videos 😁
Thanks now I understand my coach tells me to go up and down. and it's a disaster
Is there the meaning that the horse is trotting with the head in between the legs ????
You make it look easy and is not....😢
