Thank you so much for showing off my mod! I think with this I've finally made it. A few things not shown off here: The support AIs can be enabled in the menu, so you can hear them shout nonsense as you're playing. The Icon of Sin has been remade entirely. And if you don't like the minimap you can turn it off in the menu as well.
It's quite fascinating how I have a 20GB folder full of Wads for a game that's only a couple Megabytes. DooM modding comunnity is amazing and keeps surprising us with awesome mods for a 30+ years old game.
I think of DOOM less as a game, and more of an almost obnoxiously Ultra-Metal Operating System. You start it up, and choose either a new game (project) or a saved game (previous project), and WADs are just the Metal-est of metal applications -which can only run on a compatibly metal OS. Silly, yes.
Funny that it took this long for a mod of Jumping Flash to surface since we have seen other somewhat obscure games make an entry in Doom modding like Hocus Pocus and Jazz Jackrabbit, Kid Chameleon referenced in a wad called Fruit Salad and we can't forget the Golden Souls series that proves platforming can definetly work in Doom. Also gives a wierd feeling knowing Nakateleeli made this, it's like finding out that Mouldy is the same guy that made those psychodelic music videos like "Cows, Cows and Cows".
Thank you! I love Doom Mod Madness, hard to believe how long I've been idly keeping up with Doom mods, and folks are still continuing to make newer and crazier ideas come to life.
This is a good way to introduce someone to both Doom and Flash, especially for a little kid who isn't old enough for Doom, but deserves a unique taste of Doom that isn't patronizing. PS some of my dreams had similar jumping physics.
I've never heard of Jumping Flash. This somehow awakens nostalgic emotions within me because its so much embodies old Playstation games. Just all of my yes.
As someone who plays Jumping Flash once a year, this is welcome. I admit I only bought it last year, so I've only hit a one year streek, but I will play it once a year. I WILL PLAY IT ONCE A YEAR!!!
About the HUD, that's a screen size related thing I'm pretty sure. Like if you turn it down you should get the classic JF HUD. ALSO! You forgot to show that the Icon of Sin was changed entirely!
Jumping flash was one of the first games I played on the psx aside from Warhawk. I do remember being fustrated with the camera and the controls were stiff but it was a good game. Seeing it being reborn on gzdoom is wonderful.
I thought I was the only one who played Jumping Flash. I never owned it, but I did this old practice called renting it, from an old old place called Blockbuster Video.
Hoped to see this mod paired up with Nuts, was half-satisfied. Seriously, I wanted to see that map with the Jumping Flash enemies pack. Would probably make your PC run hot enough to burn through the ground but hey! Novelty!
I love how even the most niche games can get a second hurrah through really good Doom mods. Even Operation Body Count has a really good GZdoom mod. At this rate, I wouldn't be surprised to see a TokiMemo style dating simulator in Doom before I die. ... No, H-Doom doesn't count.
Very vital thing to consider with this, on the topic of what it'll handle like if anyone goes through the trouble of making a level set to pair with this mod: it can be seen in the video that the player's shadow is noticeably less clearly-defined and less visible than it was in the footage shown for the game this is based on. Actually seeing your feet when you look down probably helps but it will depend on how accurately and visibly these hint at the player's hitbox. Making the shadow more visible (unless this is purely up to the whims of GZDoom's settings and not the mod author, in which case RIP) isn't really needed for vanilla Doom maps since first-person platforming isn't a priority in the original game, but if anyone sets out to create Doom maps dedicated to platforming to pair with this mod the gameplay will end up feeling much worse than in the original without good feedback on player position. tl;dr making first-personal platforming not excruciating is relatively simple as far as modding goes but the few steps it requires are often overlooked
It may be due to a shader or setting Icarus is using making it less visible, but I explicitly gave the player a spot shadow so you could tell where you were going to land.
@@NakaTeleeli Nice. I definitely did see it during the video, I just noticed it wasn't very clear compared to how it appeared in the footage of the PS game, that definitely sounds like a symptom of GZDoom being GZDoom admittedly. Unfortunate if so. XD That said I kinda figured that it's only really like checking the platforming hints for effectiveness and accuracy will only everr really be a major concern if we start seeing more maps that focus on platforming, something I generally haven't seen a lot of in my experience (to be expected since the engine was never really designed with it in mind).
I like that the Minimap even shows the Particles and projectiles in real time. Doom will always be the greatest Game of all time. Sry Tetris, sry Mario. We love you too, but your bigger Brother brings drugs in form of customization to the table, so: Sry.
Icarus, I know you've done several Sonic the Hedgehog Doom mods before, but I promise, you've never seen one like this: /watch?v=uPxadAqnCLg It would be cool if you could review it.
Dammit I forgot to check the Icon Of Sin for this. More and more mods slip in changes to that one. Oh well.
You really should have

you are unfathomably based
Amazing!
This is awesome
Thanks for making it! Honestly a little bit of joy.

Same, it's crazy how much space mods take up lol

Silly, yes.
@darkcloudoblivion17 Exactly! And some of them require an specific version of Source ports, Like older versions of Gzdoom, Zdoom, Skulltag and etc.
@@G0thCrayon yeah seriously, it's not a game with mods it's a os with thousands of options of games lol
@@jasonvoorhees4236 yeah very true so you have to keep the various versions on hand as well haha
"For all you dozen or so Jumping Flash x Doom fans out there" ME!!! ME!!!!
Yeyeye!!!
I'm glad this niche within a niche within a niche is finding its audience.
I fuckin' love Jumping Flash, it's still fun to play and an extremely underrated franchise imo
I'd never find out about stuff like this if it wasn't for Doom Mod Madness.
Sweet baby Moses this looks rad

"Hey guys, Remember Jumping Flash?"
Me, the only person in the audience who knows jumping flash: YEAH!! YEAH!!! YIPPIE!!!! YES!!!!
Big fan of the guy who made this, NakaTeleeli. Been watching his Let's Plays for somewhere on the order of 15 years now.
Jumping Flash is just the best rabbit mecha simulation.
They combined the TWO?!?
I GOTTA CHECK THIS OUT!!!
EXCELLENT VIDEO!
Love ur content bro! Also thanks for that time you played Brazilian Drug Dealer 3! Really appreciate it, cheers!

Now waiting for people to make custom levels or entire campaigns for this mod, in the style of original game.
As someone who grew up with the PS1, playing Doom and Jumping Flash on it. I welcome this combination.
Doom modding is the perfect gift that keeps on giving
EXACT… ULTRA
Putting Grandpa Simpsons while explaining how old you are really gave me a good chuckle.
Really neat crossover! Now it's time to scavenge my wads folder for a fitting map set...
This is AWESOME I had Jumping Flash on PlayStation it was a very fun simple game 🎮
Oh hey, my favorite classic let's player made a doom mod! Hell yeah!
Robbit is in Doom, we've come so far.
You can play Robbit on a potato.
And now Robbit can properly smash his enemies into paste
Fuck yeah! Jumping Flash is one of my and my son's favorite games. Bunny Robot!

You can play the first game on PS5 and PS4, though the second game has yet to reach the PS Store.
A Japan-only third game was also released
Geneva Convention? I thought that was a checklist.
As someone who plays Jumping Flash once a year, this is welcome.

YES!!! YESSSSSSSSSS!!! THIS IS SO FREAKING COOL
I knew about the kiwis, but not the frogs wearing hats! New favorite game!!!
I played the first one!
Ok, I played the demo... But this mod seems much less burry and floaty
gzdoom can produce mind boggling effects
1:18 Looking at these two reminds me of why the PlayStation can produce mind-boggling effects.

Old video games brought to life in doom are pretty cool. Personally I think System Shock doom would be pretty neat 😂
"So yeah, I definitely wouldn't recommend a slaughter WAD."
My stupid ass thinking about playing this in Slaughterfest 2012.
[2:50] Jumping Flash in the Happy Gardens? 😲
I thought I was the only one who played Jumping Flash. I never owned it, but I did this old practice called renting it, from an old old place called Blockbuster Video.
All I could think of while watching this was that one episode of Kids Next Door where Numbuh 3 has that giant robot bunny.
I was just thinking about Jumping Flash the other day. Kind of remembered it out of nowhere.
Kiwi!
Rented Jumping Flash for a weekend back in the day. Was hooked.
This reminded me - when's Golden Souls 3?
Was hoping you would find this one. Was watching Naka work in this for a while now.
Tear, Doomguy! Rip and tear!
Do you remember Jumping Flash? YES!!!
One day we'll be able to play all other videogames in Doom. La-Mulana Doom, I'm waiting for you.
Jumping Flash 4 Looks FIRE 🔥🔥🔥
Pepperidge Farm DOES Remember! 🐰💿

Might be fun to build a mapset to go with this mod. The OG levels could definitely be recreated in ZDOOM for starters.
Very cute. Look forward to catching you livestreaming again
Nah, we called it the PSX.
Hell Yeah Jumping Flash!
Well, there it is, my preferred way to play DOOM.
Just need some map WADs now that would fit the vibes of this mod, if anyone can hook me up.
The mod looks fine.
I love Jumping Flash 2! Never played number one though lol
That means you never played the 3rd one, either!
I still love jumpy flash
Ready? Go!
Big trouble in little Doom
I just realized that Deus Vult 2 might be a good wad for it. Had plenty of verticality.
I loved that game
Oh damn that's pretty cool
ah yes, my favorite fromsoft property
oh hell yea
I remember good old Jumping Flash! Pity the third game in that series was Japan only...
Question! What is the gore mod you used?
Hey! What’s the map at 2:50?
YESSS!!!
it's got controller support like the sonic doom series.
Please tell me its available for doom+d2 consoles version
PS i loved JF back in the day
Jumping Flash Doom plus Gun bonsai plus Corruption Cards Plz.

This is garbage. If there is no springy toy on the HUD - this thing needs to stop existing.
There is, it can be enabled in the menu!
