I'm going through this as well. I never drank heavily in my life. Alcohol was a huge problem in my family. So it wasn't really appealing. Yet i managed to go through all the stages of fibrosis from NAFLD undetected until full-blown cirrhosis. Two years ago ascites appeared so i am decompensated.
This week is the anniversary of my oldest brother's death from cirrhosis. Today, I was informed of the passing of my other brother from bleeding varices. How painful it is to see that as sick as i am, the road ahead is so much worse.
My heart hurts for you. Being turned down due to lack of support just feels cruel. Sadly, it's my biggest fear. I am compliant and my Drs. think i will be a good candidate. However, im single and childless and frankly, my remaining siblings can't be counted on. It feels like being alone is a sad enough. Do we have to be denied a life-saving opptunity as well.?
I will pray for you. I am also going to research aftercare. If several recipients were in a group situation could they share shifts of caretakers?

Also. The iron overload issue won't be an issue. You will make it brother. Keep rucking brother. I'm doing my best as well. I feel like I'm doing fine. I don't worry because I would rather live. Hence why I don't want treatment. I don't want the stress. I would rather live and take caution at the same time. Live as healthy as possible. God bless you dear brother. Keep kicking it brother. You will make it buddy.

Yeah. I still deal with breathlessness often. Feels like someone sitting on my diaphragm area. My stomach is still swollen looking like I'm 8 months pregnant etc. Acid reflux comes and goes constantly. Not under treatment because I'm overseas but I'm basically on a vegetarian diet darn near. I get my protein from lentils and legumes. I'm careful on water but sometimes I'm craving water. I avoid sugar as well and drink black coffee no sugar. Also alot of laughter helps as well. Diagnosed with liver cirrhosis in 2019. Quit drinking November 2018. I'm 41 now but what I do is certainly not medical advice. Everyone is different 😉. Awesome video and keep being positive brother.

Found out I get get breathless .
White beans and coffee take away your iron . Pull bottom eye lid down down if not very red your iron might be low. Low vitamin D and B vitamins make ya breathless also.❤

I had undiagnosed Hep C for what I now believe was probably around 18 years, which probably came from a needle stick when I worked as a mental health technician in a psychiatric ward.
Anyway, I was diagnosed and cured of hep C in 2022 using a drug called Epclusa.
At the time of Diagnosis, my AST and ALT were slightly elevated and my platelets were pretty low.
Since being cured from the Hep C, my bloodwork has all returned to normal except my platelets remain slightly below normal at 144,000.
150,000 is the bottom end of normal so I’m not too far below normal now.
I have had 2 Elastography Ultrasounds 6 month apart which both came back showing normal elasticity with a METAVIR score of F0-F1
I am concerned I may have cirrhosis because my platelets haven’t fully returned to normal and I have liver pain on and off from time to time.
My Doctor wants me to do a liver biopsy just to be certain but I am reluctant to have a needle stuck in my liver.
What would you do in my situation?
I heard you mention in another video that an MRI or CT scan is able to determine if a person has cirrhosis so I’m wondering if I should ask for that instead of the biopsy….
I wish you the best in your battle with this dreadful disease.
    Peace be with you ✌🏻

I don’t know if compensative cirrhosis shows on scan. I know decompensated did. But don’t be scared just do what you need to do. It’s your life. I am doing a biopsy in April

Wishing you the best and wishing you well. That said, I'm a little confused ... how much were you drinking? I heard you say in one of your earlier videos that you got to the point where you were "drinking a pint of night" or so that's what I heard. Okay, I'm a lot confused ... I've known people who have drank for several decades and they drink a 24 pack of beer in a day and a half and drink 3 pints of vodka each and every night plus a bottle of wine ... and they are still here seemingly dong fine. So a pint a night for two years seems very little in comparison. I know, I know that the response may be ... yeah but everyone's system is different. But still, dude compare to many people I've known you weren't really drinking all that much ... unless I'm missing something or got something wrong in your story. Again, not challenging you because you are awesome and you sharing your story makes you very strong and brave and I do appreciate it. I guess my question is.... did I mishear that it was only a pint a day? Take care and good luck.

There are genetic mutations that many people, especially those of Northern European descent (white males), that can lead to cirrhosis and liver failure much quicker with even only moderate drinking, like a few drinks a week. Unless you've had genetic testing, you'll never know if you're one of those people that will end up in liver failure very quickly.

Neil you are quite amazing, I think you are being very hard on yourself about the drinking you done, but you are sounding depressed, I really do feel for you, I have been diagnosed with cirrhosis of the liver, I also have iron overload, pancreatitis and severe arthritis and other complications, however I am very lucky in as much in the UK we have the nhs which is brilliant all medications because I am over 60 are free. But I must say I have not suffered in the way you have(touch wood), I feel very sorry for you, but you give others a lot of inspiration and I hope it can get easier for you. Please take care

Well that is sad, l have had cirrhosis and Hep C for approx 40yrs and have many other health problems
But l do Not go to drs or take any medication for anything unless it is absolutely necessary.
Just Trust in God each day and He will give you the strength each day to live and do what is needed for the rest of your life. Faith in GOD is a must for me and l trust that anyone that believes in the Power of our Creator will Live Eternally after we leave this World.
5yrs ago the Hep C left my Body and only
God could have done that, also kept me alive since the day l was diagnosed with my Cirrhosis 40yrs ago. But you must believe all things are Possible with GOD.
AMEN. l get an ultrasound of my liver every 6 mo's But refuse drs care or meds if at all possible
AMEN. 80yrs old and will die when God says lt is my time and Not until.AMEN.!!
