Ah! This oldie! It is cute. And good. Like it. Band-Maid has taken giant leaps since then though. But, nothing wrong with this oldie. It is why they still exist. It is their first banger. According to themselves they might have given up if this did not happen.
They can just put the Bandmaid playlist on and let it ride because they have so many more songs that are more representative of the sound as it evolved since Thrill came out a decade ago.
You still haven't explored all their material. Though "Thrill" is a banger, it's not representative of what they've become. "The non fiction days" (music video on their channel), is a fast paced banger and for sure gets your blood pumping. Just as "Thrill", "Alone" is a milestone. First selfwritten song to be released on an album. "Puzzle" (live version on their channel), where Kanami more or less is soloing through the song. "Daydreaming" (video on channel). Not often do they do ballads, but when they do it for sure is great. "Blooming" IMO their most well-written song. Every member is shining, especially solo leading into one of their best vocal parts.
I agree. I kinda wish he'd start showing them newer Band-Maid songs that were actually written by them. I like Thrill, don't get me wrong, but it wasn't written by them AND they've improved in sound and technicality tremendously.

One should consider themselves lucky to experience them like this because it's becoming rare. THRILL is the OG MV that's always going to be BAND-MAID's best introductory song for making TRUE fans that stick around for more than a song or two. It makes you go, WOW and literally saved their music career. NEMOPHILA is still pushing their first big hit "RAITEI" and that stripped down MV (NOT THE LIVE ONE) as their premier "starter" song to this very day, as evidenced by one of their recent "shorts" video posts where they're still promoting the "RAITEI" OG MV. Dynamic, rowdy, and in your face. Their fan-boy fans can, lol, evolve on their own time with newer stuff. BAND-MAID needs fans that last, and heavy music fans last like no other fans ever have. Like a spear that runs right through the middle of "whatever is popular," year after year after year.

At least show them something more indicative of what BAND-MAID is now. A super talented group of musicians and songwriters. The guy liked this BAND-MAID oldie more than brand new LOVEBITES and Nightwish. I Don't really think it's a problem. Even the songs you picked are out of date by 4 and 5 years.

Sure, we Maidiacs have explored all the musical territory and have discovered every facet of their music. However, it was almost exclusively “Thrill” that got all of our attention back when it happened. There’s no reason to exclude it as an introduction to Band-Maid for someone with no idea what’s about to happen. In fact, it’s fun to watch the reactions in order: “Thrill” 🤔 😊 “Domination” 😮 😁 “From Now On” 🤯
Not all of us. I heard Thrill and thought it is ok. Saw Dice like a month later and rest is history, still listen everyday like 5 years later. Thrill is an OK song but not something I would ever lead off with to a newcomer, especially a metal fan.

If you have the chance one time only to get someone’s attention to the group you don’t dredge up a song the band themselves do see as essential. Domination is played EVERY show they do. Or others that they constantly being out like Puzzle, Choose Me etc…all of course have really good live versions. Love you spreading th3 World Joel but bring the heat.

Some of the other bands fan do have a legit complaint because their groups do have bad songs (see his The Warning as little kids reaction ". But maniacs can't complain that he played a bad song.
In general, because it has the most views and it's listener friendly for a general audience. In this case Joel knows this guy and has an idea of what he listens to.

I like this guy. I've driven through Kentucky, with the radio on, many times. It's a classic rock state. The most classic B-M song. Good choice.
