When I'm listening to Galway, I get the feeling that he's from another world. It's as if God has come down to earth again, but not to walk on water and do other things like that but to play the flute in a divine, super human way.
well Christ couldn't walk on water either, he was a great Tibetan Buddhist master and Jimmy Galway in a previous life was one of his great disciples - hence his divine connection is astonishing - absolute power, beauty and perfection!! Big up Sir James!
I'm to accompany my son and so I've listened to every version of this on UA-cam. The Galway/Phillip Moll versions are the one that I like the best. Thank you for posting this.
It is fine for people to have different musical tastes. Though, might I inform you that this is one of the most famous pieces for a flautist and is widely recognized for its musicality? However, as I said, some may not have respect or taste for music as melodic and calming as this. 🤷🏻♂️

I just went to your site Pierre and from you flute playing I wouldn't take your criticism of Sir Galway's playing or Gaubert's composition seriously.

What an
insignificant piece of music it is... trying to get a melody somewhere.. and the low notes are such un-flutish.
Has a very clear melody to my ears?

I think the warm low notes suit the melody (which is going somewhere imo) very well
I find this piece gorgeous
