As far as reiterating and producing the same IP with different layers and ideas; the light bulb will never go out of style, but it will change throughout the decades, wether that be in life, brightness, or size, things are always up for improvement, we’re not close to the wall yet.
4:00 yeah 25 years is only enough time to do like 3 spiderman movie reboots. Each series having about 3 movies, with additional toys, comics and video games.
People make fun of yearly sports games releases, but tbf my father can pretty decently distinguish and recognize the small mechanical differences in the various NBA 2K game. He can also tell how the game weights various stats differently, and the various changed to the "coaching" mode every year. I dont get it... But he and others can very clearly distinguish between them. I think writing off everything as cash-grabs can be very dismissive of both fans of various series and whatever devs worked hard. Yearly sports game releases are dictated by soulless corporate, but i GUARENTEE that at least some of the developers are extremely passionate about the sports game they have created
A lot of people seem to be misunderstanding Coney's point on the copyright one. It's not that it's a bad idea per se, but having the claim be that (relatively) short incentivizes companies to artificially extend that period by adding more movies. So if a Dreamworks film released now in 2021, and was set to be public domain in 2046, Dreamworks could just use that 25 years to make a sequel to the first, extending their hold on the franchise as a whole for another 25 years. The end result is a bunch of garbage filler movies made solely to prevent franchises from becoming public; aka the Disney strategy but even more of it and literally everyone is doing it.
Guilty Gear is legitimately the best fighting game series ever tho. All of the games slap and the only meh one is the first, but it’s only meh because it’s a kusoge and kusoge are still fun sometimes.
To be fair most fighting games had a pretty rough start. I can’t think of any BIG classic fighting game series that had a really good first game that aged well
On fanbases ruining games WRONG, you can have people loving theories and players just playing alone co-exist On indie games all being the same This guy doesn't know what an indie game is
I think the situation might be a bit different for streamers on the Indie Games one. Many gamers only pick up the Indie Games that rise to the top. If all you're playing are the Celeste's and Hades' and Undertales' (the ones that break out to more mainstream gaming audiences), then of course the Indie space is going to seem more varied. Underneath the surface, however, are a lot of games that kind of blend in together just due to how many Indie Devs are out there releasing games. Streamers probably do get into those weeds in their quest for content, which might put them at a better position to judge the "state" of the Indie Dev scene more than most other gamers.
I think the main thing for Esports at the olympics is that what would we even do? run a tournament? Esports already to that, we all ready have speed running competitions, theres now way to fabricate Esports on the olympic stage that would be impactful and digestible like other sports. Like loo man or woman lifts big weight (wow thats larger than last year!) compared to or xxpwnnoobsxx got first in smash the targets? like no, Esports are simply conceptualized in a different way.
I think Stan Sapphics’s comment is a fact for most games. The Splatoon community single handedly pushed me away from that franchise and it’s been one of my favorite series’ ever since it came out. It’s an incredible toxic and disgusting community that I couldn’t look at the game the same way again. Smash also has an incredibly toxic community that I just kind of distanced from smash for a bit and distanced from the incredibly toxic people. Of course these are my experiences but I do think other people could be happier if they distance from the toxic side of a community
I got a chuckle out of Guilty Gear being "incredibly accessible." I would go so far as to say it is one of the most difficult fighting games to get started in. That's a genre problem though, not one specific to the series. Anime fighters either have a really high knowledge/mechanical skill barrier or they are bad (MVCI).
What I meant by accessible I was mostly speaking about the Gatling system. At least with my experience in +R, when I first started off the Gatling system it made me feel like I was doing good. I began to learn more BnB’s without too much research. And with Strive came what I believe to be the best in game teaching tool with the mission mode

honestly my biggest problem with the steam deck is that its a steam machine... I don't have that many games on steam let alone ones i'd like to play on a small ass console and on controller (example: any first person shooter).
Ok so consoles built in to tvs isn't a new concept at all. TVs have been made with a built-in NES, super nintendo, and even a PS2. The issue is that game consoles become obsolete pretty quickly when the next replacement comes out but TVs are kept for much longer. Also you can't take your console somewhere else without taking the tv with you (tvs are way too slim for any console other than the switch to fit without being re-packaged) and if something went wrong with your console you would have to send off your tv to be repaired or have a technician come to your house. Also if you wanted to get a new tv but wanted to keep your console then too bad. Seems cool but if you really think about it you're actually worse off unless there's a serious package deal discount.
Esports should not be a part of the Olympics. There should be some type of large event around the time of the Olympics that would be for esports. Have the best players from every country go out and play for their country, have medals, make it like the Olympics, but it’s for esports specifically. It may be hard to do, but it would be better than the Olympics, which is a test of physical skill, getting invaded by people sitting in chairs with controllers.
I think that the general audience wont be big on the steam deck, but it'll be HUGE for emulation since they have a portable console to emulate games instead of a phone
"If you don't have franchises, how will you have more crossovers?" Oh, I don't know, have you ever heard of a good fan project? Can you imagine how much better they would get if they could be paid for it!?!
I think that there should be a yearly video game version of the olympics instead because I don’t like them together but we should have something like that
Coney, if a patent lasts 20 years (en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Term_of_patent_in_the_United_States) then 50 years is still to mush for an intellectual property to b under protection. Copyright laws are detrimental to our cultural progression. Because intellectual properties become franchises more often an appeal from 20 to 35/40 should be possible but that's It.
The patent shouldn't go out before the creator is retired or dead. no one should get the chance to make more then the creator. the whole point of bringing something new into the world is to set your mark. 20-40 years isn't enough. especially now with the internet.
Me too. I feel like it's the best excuse we can get of hearing Coney's opinions on things, in a digestible format that isn't confined to some random gaming stream. In a world where Coney never becomes a "video essay" type content man, we've at least got Fact or Opinion.
I think esport would be cool to have at the olympics but then I think about actually seeing it there and I mean do i actually want it there. Also games can be sports but esports players arent athletes
imagine someone asking what you do in your free time and you have to say that you play a children's party game in a competitive environment as fucking pikachu
It's actually fact, as microsft is working with samsung, putting their console in TVs. You will get gamepass and be able to download and play any game on the Microsoft marketplace.
The last "good" indie game i can recall did what it wanted to do really well was DDLC. Since then i haven't seen a game do anything similar as well but maybe i just dont play enough of them.
Where would you ever take your steam deck? If I’m out of my house it’s normally because I don’t want to play video games. If I’m in my house I have a much more powerful and easily accessible PC that I can use to play games. I don’t see the appeal whatsoever

I’m so unbelievably excited for the steamdeck. There’s a bunch of fighting games I play that I can’t take with me when I travel, and the steamdeck is probably gonna solve all of those issues for me.
I think the only plausible Esport to include in the Olympics would be Endurance Sim Racing. You may be sitting in a chair, but using a wheel peripheral with Force Feedback for 200 laps is taxing on both mind and body. If I can remember, it was discussed at some point in the past.
Wow I cant believe coney, my favorite content creator, is a fan of disney/nintendo owning every IP and not doing anything with it while suing anyone that does.
Nintendo makes new games of their IP’s every generation.
@@liquidmark5081 Yeah except for Earthbound, F-Zero, Kid Icarus, Golden Sun. Or when Star Fox, Pikmin, and Metroid were missing from a generation of consoles.
@@DemonGiraffe95 Half of those are in smash. So yes they are being used. No excuse tho we need an F zero game but Nintendo believes they cant do anything else with the series. Which is a bit sad
Disney still uses their main IP but ok
This is from the future the steam deck did not fail it's actually doing REALLY good on sales. I'm actually getting one my self this Christmas it's priced alright the base version is like 450 and the highest end one is 650. I would recommend it and after it's priced at like the same price as the newest consoles it's 100% worth it you basically get a PC for the same price as a console alot more value for the dollar.
Whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa Batman/Elmer Fudd is one of the greatest comic books of the modern age. It was Neal Adams's favorite comic before he passed (Neal Adams was a legend and did a lot of our favorite characters and books)!
IVE NEVER SEEN SO MANY TWOS SO QUICKLY FOR THE OLYMPICS ONE 🤣
Damn both Smash AND Skullgirls got rocked at the end. Two of my favorite competitive games.
I'm down for a smash bros style nintendo racing game, but it shouldn't be mario kart.
It should be different from it in more ways than just characters, and shouldn't fall under the mario kart name. Make it an excuse to experiment with something new.
Or, even better: just bring back f-zero as f-zero and have it exist at all
edit: also, having karts like the blue falcon and tracks from other games imo is different from having characters from those games, and it should be like 80% mario stuff
Also everyone can use it means anyone can use it including the copyright holders
21:30 cmon where my Kof bois at? were not many but were rockin since -94
Here for my Latinos comrades
I swear down every single video without fail your choice of background music always 100% slaps AND bangs. Gg.
5:52 I agree with this only because some colleges are now actually now using recruiting scholarships for E-sport players
I don't know why the jab at skullgirls got me the way it did
I bought that steam link for five dollars too. It came with an HDMI cable that I still use, so it was technically a well spent $5
Coney said you can't have too many sequels but then said that earthbound inspired games being made so commonly is bad...
this makes no sense to me.
Guilty Gear is legitimately the best fighting game series ever tho. All of the games slap and the only meh one is the first, but it’s only meh because it’s a kusoge and kusoge are still fun sometimes.
To be fair most fighting games had a pretty rough start. I can’t think of any BIG classic fighting game series that had a really good first game that aged well
@@dodobrain very true
On fanbases ruining games
WRONG, you can have people loving theories and players just playing alone co-exist
On indie games all being the same
This guy doesn't know what an indie game is
I think the situation might be a bit different for streamers on the Indie Games one.
Like loo man or woman lifts big weight (wow thats larger than last year!) compared to or xxpwnnoobsxx got first in smash the targets? like no, Esports are simply conceptualized in a different way.
can't wait for the Steam Deck to be obsolete in 6 months and never be heard of after a year
steam deck sure, but the google stadia is gonna make a grand comeback next year for sure hurrdurr
Then it'll be the true successor to the switch
I think Stan Sapphics’s comment is a fact for most games. The Splatoon community single handedly pushed me away from that franchise and it’s been one of my favorite series’ ever since it came out. It’s an incredible toxic and disgusting community that I couldn’t look at the game the same way again. Smash also has an incredibly toxic community that I just kind of distanced from smash for a bit and distanced from the incredibly toxic people. Of course these are my experiences but I do think other people could be happier if they distance from the toxic side of a community
Indefinite copyright gives people with the most money free reign to own all of our cultural touchstones for all time. 25 years is more than enough.
That last one ENDED ME. lmfao
Alot of really good content tweets this stream, alot of thought put in this.
2:46 I'm glad somebody finally agrees with me that a "Nintendo Kart" would be stupid and unnecessary
Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games should be an esport at the olympics
Since when were crossovers ever NOT a deliberate cash grab?
If I had three wishes I'd wish for world peace, an end to world hunger, and I world destroy all Public Domain laws. All content you make can be remade and taken by anyone
esports are esports and sports are sports just bc its a similar name dont make them the same
See, I like how you mention Batman Bugs but completely gloss over the Bugs Chungus during the scene shortly after Bugs slaps the Elmer Fudd costume on LeBron..
honestly my biggest problem with the steam deck is that its a steam machine... I don't have that many games on steam let alone ones i'd like to play on a small ass console and on controller (example: any first person shooter).
"I'd kill for a new Streets of Rage every year" BAAAAAASSSSSEEEDDD BASED BASED BASED BASED
HELLO BASED DEPARTMENT?
Pretty sure public domain was originally supposed to be ~30 years, but Disney pushed for laws extending it so they could protect Mickey
I think smart TV might come with not necessarily a console but a TV with a capability to run some games that you could buy off steam.
i think falcon not getting his own game was a completely unrelated from that conversation
"If you don't have franchises, how will you have more crossovers?"
Oh, I don't know, have you ever heard of a good fan project? Can you imagine how much better they would get if they could be paid for it!?!
I think that there should be a yearly video game version of the olympics instead because I don’t like them together but we should have something like that
Isn't the point of the Olympics just to Mimic what the ancient Greeks did, they didn't have vidya.
20:22 man i love twitch chat.
Last guy was kinda TRUEING
Imagine having one of your points onwhy the Steam Deck will fail is because it doesn't have Nintendo exclusives. These people are crazy
If this thing can run emulators then it will have more Nintendo Exclusives than the Switch xD
Their saying the steam deck doesn’t have exsulsives 🤦♂️
I love this series so much!
Fact
True
Me too. I feel like it's the best excuse we can get of hearing Coney's opinions on things, in a digestible format that isn't confined to some random gaming stream. In a world where Coney never becomes a "video essay" type content man, we've at least got Fact or Opinion.
4:05 coney doesnt know what public domain means
10:35 coney do you realize there literally is no free market
I think esport would be cool to have at the olympics but then I think about actually seeing it there and I mean do i actually want it there. Also games can be sports but esports players arent athletes
thank you coney today i learned that a game can win fighting game of the year without being a fighting game
imagine someone asking what you do in your free time and you have to say that you play a children's party game in a competitive environment as fucking pikachu
To whoever mentioned SoulCalibur during the conversation about greatest fighting game of all time, did you say that with a straight face???
Coney with the boomer opinions on the public domain
I agreed with coney every time. Very based of you Mr. Cone
Bro the gaming tv is an opinion. People won't spend 1.5k for a smart tv when they already have one
It's actually fact, as microsft is working with samsung, putting their console in TVs. You will get gamepass and be able to download and play any game on the Microsoft marketplace.
@@ianb.1603 watch it flop
Ah beans, I’ve been Outrageous Opinion’d. 50 years is good tho
4:54 if only Du5t1n knew back then...
Was watching the first tweet dispute when I saw a different tweet in my notifis about 007 x Rocket League
Despite this series creating a massive amount of anger in me, I still watch it to see funny content man Coney!
FELLAS, are you commenting to help the algorithm?!?! GET TO IT!!!
The last "good" indie game i can recall did what it wanted to do really well was DDLC. Since then i haven't seen a game do anything similar as well but maybe i just dont play enough of them.
Nvm celeste was a game i forgot about
@@tomcruise7481 you just don't play enough indies.
3:30 sorry Coney, that's def a fact
Doggo Boy was so unbelievably right
At the same time that I feel videogames would be cool, the point that Coney made is good.
I would like to mention that some old tvs had a built in nes
Where would you ever take your steam deck? If I’m out of my house it’s normally because I don’t want to play video games. If I’m in my house I have a much more powerful and easily accessible PC that I can use to play games. I don’t see the appeal whatsoever
Esports at the olympics is dumb. But an Elympics? Maybe that could be interesting
