It's very interesting to try to discern these actors' world view through how they answer some of these questions. I'm actually glad that Dallas didn't insist that the actors be professing Christians, but there's definitely times when they really don't understand the characters they're portraying since they themselves are not followers of Jesus. Such as, "What gave John the power to transcend his imprisonment?"
My understanding of Judas's character was a lot darker in Scripture than people remember. He would be stealing from the donations as he was in charge of the money. He openly criticized Jesus for His actions, particularly towards Mary, the sister of Martha and Lazarus, for spending so much money on the herbal oils in the alabaster jar that she broke and washed Jesus's feet--because he coveted the money that had been spent on it.
I love Luke’s iteration of the character, but that’s my understanding too.
Well just give it a little time, I think that is coming, he only recently joined the group. Something must happen that changes him from the happy-go-lucky dude to the untrustworthy person we know from the Bible.
Thanks for taking the time to create all these videos: I like your commentaries, the way that you go deep when touching on some subjects, the aside comments explaining facts based on the Bible, and your friendly, kind demeanor. I didn't know that you were a pastor before being a UA-cam creator: I love that too and we are lucky to have you! May the Lord bless you and Vanessa 🥰
You are correct about Judas, he was a good man and loved Jesus like everyone else except he got strayed with his ideas about how Jesus must act.
Actors often don't watch their shows. I sometimes don't. There are too many things you were working for that don't work out the way you wanted it.
It’s very enjoyable to break down these videos as if we are having a discussion on the topic around the table. It’s funny to me we are discussing a discussion of the show - what a nerdy thing of us to do. So great!
I actually think Judas COULD be compared to Loki (or at least to Marvel’s version), since they are both known for being traitors. Also, I don’t think Loki (again, Marvel’s version) is entirely evil either. Like Luke’s Judas, he started out quite innocent, but then he misinterpreted some intentions, and then made some REALLY BAD choices.
Hello Brandon
Chris Durban is so insightful. I thoroughly enjoy him being a Chosen Insider and I also miss his theological analyses on his own channel.
You're a wonderful reactor, thank you!!
Thanks so much for the Loki background. I am a Star Wars, Trek, LOTR nerd, but I've seen no Marvel.
Amazing video. These actors are great
Notice these actors reflect mostly on their craft. They have the benefit of mulling over their own characters, what the script says, what directions they get from Dallas, interactions with other actors - none of this we get to see. We only see the end result, the take that was selected and edited. The actors tend to respond to questions from their compiled memories of filming layered over the episode. We’ll have a similar experience in the feeding of the 5K where it will be one blip on screen but we who were there have the additional many layers of our filming memories - like multiple takes of cheering to “Let’s eat!”😂 Noah touches on this briefly in this after show. Notice how the actors dive so deeply into their own understanding of who their characters are, how they behave, what they think - all which help them portray them as multi-dimensional people on screen. This is what we appreciate so much about having a multi-season show which allows the time and space to develop and ponder these Bible characters in what they might have been like as full, real persons. I learn so much and am driven to ponder it myself, most especially when I hear the writers share some of their thoughts on their processes, how they attempt to fully flesh out a whole person while still based on biblical truths and the narrative we do have, the culture of the times as we know it, and how they work to relate it all to our human condition today. They are required to be creative, engaging, thoughtful, theologians imaginative and even historians! This is an overwhelming task when others have their own views of how they read and understand the Bible and it will never match. I pray for them in so many ways as they navigate this. Plus I also pray for their safety, perhaps a bit selfishly 😂, because I don’t want anything to happen to them before I get to see this series played out 😂😂 - and for everyone else this can reach too, of course!
I get tickled every time they say my name lol
When is season 3 coming to Pure Flix?
🤔 not sure. It’s on the Angel and chosen apps though
I noticed you laughed when Luke made a comment likening John the Baptist to a hard rock band AC/DC who is famous from the song Highway to H***. I also recently became aware of the new Satan friendly ad campaign that mocks God. What are your thoughts on this. Is it wise to portray him as a funny likeable guy who claims his "father" has the "third eye" (from video on unboxing an apple 13 phone in the "don't watch" ad campaign) to promote a series about Jesus? What are your thoughts about this?
None of this is going on at the same time, huh
Quit interrupting the interview. It’s kind of annoying.
Can you do a video on the chosen ad campaign featuring Satan as a funny, likeable prankster? The comments indicate it's building a following this false portrayal of Satan. Does using that premise of satan being a mascot for a show about Jesus bother anyone else?
Yeah, saw your comment the first time. People probably want to focus on the topic of this video.
