Funfact: Whoopi Goldberg was told she wasn't the right fit for the movie. Patrick Swayze told executives that he would never do the the movie without Whoopi and said he'd walk
Shows how much Hollywood execs know. That part won her Best Supporting Actress at the Oscars. Although I thought she deserved the Oscar for her role in The Color Purple.
Similar thing happened with the movie Open Range. Kevin Costner, director and colead, said he wouldnt make the movie unless Robert Duvall agreed to costar with him. Still one of favorite movies as a result. Ghost works because of Swayze and Goldberg.
Not quite, but on the right track. Patrick Swayze and Whoopi Goldberg did not know each other. Patrick thought she turned it down and when he expressed incredulousness about that misconception the producers told him THEY rejected her. He refused to sign unless they at least gave her a screen test. They hit it off from the very get go and remained close friends till his death. Whoopi has told the story many times.
@88happiness sixth sense was great but come on... no film was a better depiction nor grips you in every way like ghost. I also think ghost was the best film of ALL TIME in terms of depicting soul mates. Sam wheat and Molly Jensen was the greatest love story. You can see on both actors performance... everutime Sam looks at Molly it's so adorabl3 and tragic
Tony Goldwyn is one of the most gorgeous men on the face of the planet! I’ve followed his career as much as could and he looks better today then in 1990. He’s in the Divergent movies if you haven’t seen it. The Belko Experiment is great and the remake of “The Last House on the Left”… that one’s brutal! The effects in this film were great. I saw it four times in theaters and can’t not cry. I watch it mostly, not only for Tony 🤤, but Demi. I’ve followed her career ever since she played Jackie Templeton on General Hospital. I knew then she would have a great career. I was so happy when she named her first girl “Scout” from “To Kill A Mockingbird”. PERFECT!
Patrick Swayze was a dancer from the very beginning. His mother was a dance instructor and choreographer. Swayze learned ballet at the Joffrey school of dance. He was athletic being an expert ice skater as well.
Whoopi was so awesome back in the day. Btw.. Vincent Schiavelli was the actor who played the 'subway ghost'. He was also the biology teacher Mr Vargas in Fast Times At Ridgemont High (as well as many many other roles). His character face and comedic delivery was his claim to fame. He passed away the day after Christmas in 2005. He's buried in Polizzi Generosa, Sicilly, his home town. He was beloved by all, as was Patrick. RIP Patrick and Vincent.
Vincent schiavelli was the actor who played the ghost on the train. He was one of my favorite character actors. The first film I saw him in was one flew over the cuckoo's nest. He also was a great cook and wrote a few cookbooks. He died way too young from cancer.
I enjoyed watching him, I loved how he projected the emotions of the Ghost he played as. He would've done well to play as Oswald Cobblepot (aka Penguin) too.
I initially saw this movie at the movies shortly after it was released and I thought that it was a good movie. A few years later I watched this movie with my dad who was dying of cancer. My dad told me that he definitely believed in ghosts. In the weeks before my dad’s death he saw several ghosts of several family members and friends who had already died. When my dad finally died I knew before I received the phone telling me that he had died that my dad was dead. For several years after my dad’s death, when I was feeling low, I could often feel my dad’s spirit. I definitely believe that ghosts are real.
I am a spitrual person myself my spirits go by orbs ,i belive my nan is still around ,i hear footsteps and 2 knocks on my bedroom wall and even caught her orb on camera. When i was at my friends house her mother had died and i managed to catch her walking for a bit and then dissapear. You should check it out on spirt orbs they have different colours and what they mean xx
It’s a common phenomenon to hallucinate at these points. There are no ‘ghosts’ spirits orbs and all that rubbish mainly gullible women waste their time with. I’m not being harsh or rude. I just don’t want anyone to waste a single second of the one life they have believing in that bullshit. Make the most of your life and have no regrets. Love your loved ones and tell them while you are here cos it’s all gone way too soon. Don’t waste your life ‘looking up what coloured orbs mean’ on the internet for Christ’s sake!
Whoopi credits her Best Supporting Actress Academy Award to Patrick Swayze who advised the studio that he would refuse to do the picture without her. She was heartbroken by his untimely death from pancreatic cancer.
Trivia. Tony Goldwyn the sleazy friend is the grandson of one of the founding members of MGM movie studios, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer back in the 20s. He’s been in many movies and TV shows since Ghost.
Molly did happen to say "Sam, don't you leave me!" at exactly the right moment. She didn't mean to talk to his ghost, but he apparently felt that he couldn't leave her (for Heaven), partly as a result. Besides, his death was so sudden that he just wasn't ready, period. That's another theory about why some souls linger on the Earth.
GHOST is a fantastic movie! It came out of nowhere the summer of '91 and killed it at the box office. Pretty sure I saw it at the theater 3x and then couldn't wait for it to come out on video. If I'm not mistaken it was nominated for Best Picture at the Academy Awards, and Whoopi Goldberg actually won for that role.
Great Reaction, you’ll love The Color Purple, Green Mile, Cast Away , Million Dollar Baby, The Fault in our stars, What dreams may come, The Notebook. all good movies 👍🏽
"Smelled his cologne two hours before he got the call that he died", it's a pretty common phenomenon. I dreamed I was at a swim meet (no idea why) and some coach at the side of the pool told me my aunt died, and that was right before she died in real life... What's actually happening is similar to dejavu. It's the same thing behind "premonitions". It's your brain misdirecting and filing short term memories in the long term memory section of your brain. You see a black cat go by and say "Woah, dejavu". It's because what you just witnessed, went down the wrong neural pipeline, and got filed in the longer term memory section of your brain along with the short term memory section of your brain. So, you just saw the black cat walk by, but, you've got an identical memory from when it happened earlier (even though that's just an echo). That's how you get people who claim they knew JFK was going to be shot. They're not necessarily lying. It's a major event with hundreds of millions of people thinking about it constantly for a year, a few people get their wires crossed and the memory of it gets filed in a section of the brain containing memories from before the incident happened, and they say "woah, I knew this was going to happen".
This film constantly gets mistaken for a chick flick. I believe that's due to the poster and the iconic pottery scene. It's apparently the highest grossing movie of 1990. Just behind it are Home Alone & Pretty Woman. One would think that Total Recall, Back to the Future 3, & Die Hard 2 would be the top candidates; but that right there shows the difference in moviegoing habits back then. Audiences were generally drawn to new concepts rather than established franchises.
Fun fact: I read somewhere where the guy who played Carl was actually hated in real life for the role he played in this movie. He went to a restaurant and the waitress was like you look very familiar, where have I seen you before. Are you an actor. The guy who played Carl answered yes, I’m an actor and I do Broadway. The waitress finally remembered what movie he did. The waitress treated him really awful.
A great Patrick Swayze hit is "The Outsiders". It is one of his earliest movies & most of the other stars in it went on to have huge, successful acting careers from it as well.
6:00 If you are interested to see more from Patrick Swayze please check out Point Break where also young Keanu Reeves and Patrick both were main characters. One of may favorite action movies until today
Trivia: Those creepy noises that the Shadowy Angels of Hell make when they take Willie and Carl away are actually really low-pitched baby crying noises
Yes that fact is true, Patrick convinced whoopi for the role, and that got her an oscar . Way to go. This is a classic it was great in theatre back then. ❤👌🏾
Congrats on 8 years!! I must say... that's one BEAUTIFUL Woman you have there!! Treat her right :) Oh... and yes... Laura is great... really works well with you!! Makes the channel even better... despite the fact your channel was already awesome to begin with!!
When this movie came out, pottery classes were suddenly popular. Also, my home has a ghost, but it's harmless. At times I swear it's a cat. Forever curious. Knocks the occasional thing over, knowing I don't want it to, but I think it's a fair exchange as it resides in the cupboard under the stairs and I put my cans of soda in there as it's cheaper than putting them in the fridge. Even better is that it HATES my Sister-in-Law with a passion and WILL throw things at her when she's alone.
Going through doors felt weird because Sam wasn't used to walking right into doors. Instinctually, he thinks it's going to hurt. I think that all of us would have to get used to that at first.
Rear Window (1954) James Stewart, Grace Kelly. Bell, Book & Candle (1958) James Stewart, Kim Novak, Casablanca (1942) Humphrey Bogart, Ingrid Bergman, Claude Rains.
A movie about making pots and different sculptures. 😂 BTW The Color Purple is another surprising movie where you wished you hadn’t gotten this far in life without having ever watched it. And if Ghost made you tear up then….just have tissues handy for The Color Purple is all I’m saying.
Hey guys, new subscriber from Dublin Ireland here. about not being able to throw loved ones stuff away, I can relate. I lived with my Mom who passed away November of last year. my Brother and I still live in the house and although my Sisters helped us clear out mums room. most of her clothes went to charity as I know she would have wanted. all of her stuff is still in the bathroom cabinet including denture glue. I just can't bring myself to throw it out yet xox
In this movie, a ghost can only move stuff when he is properly focused and using his mind. No matter how angry he was, Sam was just swinging away at Willy thinking his "fists" would connect, but he doesn't have fists anymore. Apparently there are subtle nuances involved in how one uses one's feelings to move things, and purely by accident Sam happened to get it right with the photo frame. When he practiced later with the subway ghost, he figured out precisely how to do it, so it wasn't a problem anymore. The point is that it's not just about having strong feelings.
Your reactions were wonderful all the way through! I’m glad you got the romance you wanted too! 💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕I just watched the same movie with another reactor 😩. Your reactions are human, touching, smart, funny, so great to hear all your banter and intelligent conversation and see the appreciation you have for each other. It’s very, very special! 8 years and you’re still enjoying each other’s company. Very sweet! You’re both very intuitive too. Pisces always is and your grandfather was intuitive! 👍🏾no wonder you picked up on the snake guy right from the start.
This is one of my favorite movies and I saw it in the theater when if first came out! It was really enjoyable to see your reactions to it! You guys are great, I loved how surprised you'd get as things happened that you weren't expecting and also how sentimental. 😊 I recently talked my 20 year old son and his girlfriend into watching it and they loved it too. It's fun to recommend good older movies to people who've never seen it! Ghost is NOT lame! 😮
Weird thing you brought up the smell thing. When my grandfather died, as he was dying in the hospital, someone lit a candle in our home. We could SMELL it, but no one did and we had no candles. Was so bizarre.
First Y'all are too cute! Second Patrick Swayze made sure Whoopee got the role And Equal pay. Third, y'all give me hope in love 💕 Bounus points, my dude said Roadhouse during a fight scene 🤣🤣🤣 And girl said Carina Carina and Now and Then my favorite childhood movies. Y'all got a new subscriber. 💜
“Unchained Melody” By The Righteous Brothers During The Pottery Scene is a Iconic Song 🎵 and since I know you reacted to Dirty Dancing(FUN FACT-The Righteous Brothers aren’t brothers at all! They’re names are Bobby Hatfield and Bill Medley and a another FUN FACT is Bill Medley also did a duet with Jennifer Warnes called “I’ve Had The Time Of My Life” The Song Is Featured On The Kellerman’s stage at the end of the movie 🎥!!! Also the time of my life song was not made in the 60’s when the movie was set it was made in around 1987 when the movie was released in theaters!
Fun Fact: My pottery teacher in High School was the hands in the pottery scene. And watching the scene I definitely can see her hands in the scene. She always said she was the hands in the movie and I talked to several teachers at my high school about it and all of them agreed with her.
Let's see, you guys like suspense, thrillers, horror, dark comedies, psychological dramas.... You've just described every movie directed by Alfred Hitchcock. I suggest you delve into him and any of the plethora of great films he directed. There are far too many to name here (probably 20 or more) that I think you'd enjoy. A few of the best known are: North By Northwest; Psycho; Rear Window; Vertigo; Rebecca; and Rope, but many others not named here are also worthwhile.
"I'm a Pisces! I'm a Pisces!"...As a fellow Pisces I relate to that hard! 😆 This movie is such a classic. It has everything. I definitely recommend you react to both Sister Act 1&2. Both are great!
I had ghosts (at least 2) in my house in Houston, with 2 actual apparitions, a cold spot, and a LOT of activity. People can say anything they want, but I know what I saw and felt. People can joke about this stuff, and denigrate people for believing...but again, I know what I saw and and felt, and in my book, that all that matters.
Sam was seeing the wood fibers in the door just like he saw that doctor's innards earlier, as his "eyes" were momentarily right inside whatever he was passing through. Only a ghost could see like that, so it is kind of bizarre to us, but it also makes perfect sense.
It was very difficult to find a movie studio willing to make Ghost. Jerry Zucker was the director which made all the studios in Hollywood have second thoughts, as I recall. He worked on Airplane! and the Naked Gun movies. All comedies. The studios didn't think he could do a serious movie/thriller/love story. Finally, Paramount took a chance. The rest is history. There's probably more to this story, but that's all I can recall.
Loved your review. This is one of my favorite movies of all time. Don't know if you've ever reviewed Die Hard With a Vengeance but I would love to see you review that movie. Action packed from A to Z and Bruce Willis and Samuel L. Jackson have such perfect chemistry. Thanks!
I love this movie, but it’s actually hard to watch now that Patrick Swayze is no longer with us. 🥺 y’all should check out Patrick’s movie “The Outsiders”. It also has young Tom Cruise, Matt Dillon, and the Karate Kid himself, Ralph Machio ! Stay Gold
I really enjoyed this reaction! this was my first experience watching you two and you've just earned a sub from me; looking forward to seeing more. I would love to see you react to more Whoopi because she is a great actress. ❤️
Yeah, I'd definitely love to see you two follow up on that idea to watch 'The Color Purple'. I'm going to subscribe just to catch that!! Great review!!
I read a little of your comments, but nobody gave Whoopi her greatest credit for this movie. Yes, Patrick’s support but more than just Patrick, but the movie industry gave her a nomination for an academy award and she won the oscar. To me that was the most important thing for the film because of the different category genres the film was. The fact that it was a thriller for Whoopi that was the most important as few films received academy awards for thrillers.
Great reaction. On a side note. I have had numerous experiences where I felt the presences of fellow loved ones who had passed. One time I was going to sleep and I had closed my eyes getting ready for bed. I was still awake and I could sense a presence coming closer to me. Part of me was weirded out but the other part of me was comfortable, if that makes sense! Anyhow I hear my grandmothers voice say " In the name of the father and the son and the holy spirit!" I also felt her touch me on the forehead / chest/ left shoulder, right shoulder = sign of the cross) as she was doing this. She then kissed me on the cheek and I jumped up out of my bed. I felt my cheek and it was moist like someone had kissed me. I was a little rattled as this is something that doesn't happen all the time. Anyhow, a few hours later my father got the call that his mom had passed. When I told him of my experience, he had no words.
Thanks for the reaction. I love your take on this. Yes, it was 1990 and the special effects have not aged well. And it has a certain level of cringy sap. But the sounds of the demons when they come to take Willy and Carl, they give the chills. Scary as Hell (literally). And Whoopi, for sure my favorite of hers. But for me, my name is Sam and when this came out I was dating a girl named Molly and all of our friends thought it was the cutest thing ever. So this movie is special to me. You guys got my sub for this one. Glad you can appreciate it.
What kind of special effects are you expecting for this kind of movie? LMAO?! Fake looking CGI? No thank you. Spirits - both dark and light are representational, not actual. Yes, those dark spirits were supposed to be the Grim Reaper. And they dragged them to hell. I think everything was done perfectly. Maybe y'all watch too many comic book movies. lol
Funfact: Whoopi Goldberg was told she wasn't the right fit for the movie. Patrick Swayze told executives that he would never do the the movie without Whoopi and said he'd walk
Good for Patrick RIP! Great casting all around
Shows how much Hollywood execs know. That part won her Best Supporting Actress at the Oscars. Although I thought she deserved the Oscar for her role in The Color Purple.

Ghost is easily one of my favorite movies ever. I can't explain it but every time I watch it, it grips me hard, no matter how many times I watch it.
I think Sixth Sense was better, although this was OK.
Swayze did it all. He was, legit, one of the GOATs.
Fun Fact: The sounds the shadow demons are making is actually the sounds of crying babies played in reverse very slowly!
Carl experiencing karma and sweating and whimpering is some of the most satisfying character work.
The Color Purple is a must see. Another great performance by Whoopi. Great performances by the whole cast. Great direction by Spielberg.
Tony Goldwyn is one of the most gorgeous men on the face of the planet! I’ve followed his career as much as could and he looks better today then in 1990. Yes actually Tony still like fine wine. Apparently he is one of the most gorgeous and talented actor in the world.
Whoever said Ghost is lame needs a mindset adjustment lol, it’s a perfect movie! 🍿
Athiests...have a huge bug up there ass about this the most beautiful film in terms of love, loss and soulmates
Fun reaction. You two are great together! Yes, The Color Purple is a beautiful film and Whoopie is amazing!
Color Purple is a must watch!

Molly did happen to say "Sam, don't you leave me!" at exactly the right moment. Beside Ghost (1990) movie, "Sister Act" is another very funny good film. Thank you Flix Talk!
I will check it out! Thanks for watching
Bro, the non-verbal communication you gave at 31:00. Priceless!
GHOST is a fantastic movie! It came out of nowhere the summer of '91 and killed it at the box office. Pretty sure I saw it at the theater 3x and then couldn't wait for it to come out on video. This is one of my all time favorite films.
"in my predictable mind, this guy's in on it"
Perfectly said!
Thanks for that! People HATE when I predict a movies outcome lol I do that in general and I feel like alot of us all do
You guys should totally react to Sister Act... you would love it. Whoopi Goldberg was a gem in everything she starred in.
What was the one where she and meg Ryan played sisters?
@@GameOn71213 I don't know that one.
I second this, all the Sister Act movies are great! I love Whoopi!
She has made a few bad ones.
That was an Oscar winning performance (best supporting) from Whoopi Goldberg by the way.
She did great
Really enjoyed this, thanks! Another one with Patrick Swayze and Keanu Reeves is “Point Break”. Ah man, Keanu’s “Johnny Utah” is my everything. ❤😂👍🏼
You should watch Point Break if you have with Patrick Swayze and Keanu Reeves. Also you should Watch Demi Moore in Disclosure

What’s so insane is that this was directed and produced by the people who made AIRPLANE.
A great Patrick Swayze hit is "The Outsiders". It is one of his earliest movies & most of the other stars in it went on to have huge, successful acting careers from it as well.
A great flashback! Glad you enjoyed it.

... played backwards and slowed down which makes it doubly creepy 👻😈😆
I haven't seen this film in a very long time. It was great watching it with you guys.. thanks for posting
The Color Purple is a must see. Oscar worthy. One of my faves is Jumping Jack Flash. Very early Whoopi.
Good choice of movie. Good reaction. Nice to see the wife/girlfriend. Whoopi won an Academy Award for this.
RIP Patrick

I have a poltergeist in my home too, tho it hasn't been active in many years (thank you God).

It took me a while to realize that Carl was Fitz from Scandal. Also, you guys should check out another Demi Moore movie called: Nothing But Trouble.
OOoOo I love that movie. Don't know if Laura's seen it. Has Digital Underground haha
It is a LOVE movie, so I guess that qualifies it as a Valentine's Day movie.
Love this movie. Always brings me to tears. Highly recommend Color Purple and Jumping Jack Flash.

The pottery scene in Ghost is parodied in “The Naked Gun 2 1/2: The Smell Of Fear”
I think the movie's comedy and overall tone are pleasing and spot-on.
In this movie, a ghost can only move stuff when he is properly focused and using his mind. No matter how angry he was, Sam was just swinging away at Willy thinking his "fists" would connect, but he doesn't have fists anymore. They say that ghosts are with us, but we can't see them. Being mortal in this physical realm. Good movie this is.
Sam wasn't trying to play "Mr. Tough Guy", but naturally he did react to Willy striking Molly in the face.
First Y'all are too cute!
Second Patrick Swayze made sure Whoopee got the role And Equal pay.
Third, y'all give me hope in love 💕
Bounus points, my dude said Roadhouse during a fight scene 🤣🤣🤣
And girl said Carina Carina and Now and Then my favorite childhood movies. Y'all got a new subscriber. 💜
Lol thanks for the awesome comment!
Always loved this movie. And yes y'all HAVE to do the color purple it's a masterpiece
"I thought this was about pottery!"
Bless your hearts... 🤣
That was lovely, yeah I said it haha. Great reaction/review from both of you. Subscribed 👍👍
Hey thanks Chris! Welcome to the aflix Talk Family
There is nothing innocent in taking advantage of someone who is still grieving.
First movie I can remember watching in the theatre; I was six and it completely destroyed me😭
“Emotional Damage”
I cried for a week.
💔
Loved watching you two enjoy this movie. Y'all are a great looking couple and I love those dimples. ♥ -ceramics -

if you two ever get around to watching The Color Purple
be prepared
emotions will run high. i don't want to say more than that! :)
Yes must see Color Purple!
I've had experiences also. You're not alone
Sam was seeing the wood fibers in the door just like he saw that doctor's innards earlier, as his "eyes" were momentarily right inside whatever he was passing through. Only a ghost could see like that, so it is kind of bizarre to us, but it also makes perfect sense.
If you want to cry I would suggest the color purple. It's one of the best movies ever put to film
Great reaction
It's on the watch list! Thanks for watching
Stay Gold
Two other Swayze movies you might not have seen yet are City Of Joy (1992) and Letters From A Killer (1997).
I really enjoyed this reaction! this was my first experience watching you two and you've just earned a sub from me; looking forward to seeing more. I would love to see you react to more Whoopi because she is a great actress. ❤️
Thank you for watching and subbing! Much more to come
Yeah, I'd definitely love to see you two follow up on that idea to watch 'The Color Purple'. I'm going to subscribe just to catch that!! Great review!!
Color of Purple is a must to see! 🙂
Watch the color purple next. Whoopi should have won an Oscar for that.
The Color Purple is a must see. ❤
For many people "NEXT OF KIN" is the kind of Action packed classic that Swayze was best remembered for. Also "RED DAWN" and "The OUTSIDERS"
y'all have to watch color purple. excellent.
now you need to see “The Color Purple”
The Color Purple is a must watch movie. It's a Stephen Spielberg movie with Whoopi and Oprah and Danny Glover
Sarafina 1992❣️
I’ve got three fabulous movies to watch with Laura: Charade, Heaven Can Wait and Tom Jones.
Black comedy? Clay Pigeons...a powerhouse with Jauquin Phoenix, Vince Vaughn, and Janeane Garofolo...brilliant film.
The sound effect for the demons from hell was achieved by taking the sound of crying babies and slowing it down a LOT.
Great video guys 😎
Please show, "Planes, Trains and Automibles" with John Candy and Steve Martin. Thank you. Have a Blessed Evening. Adios.
See point break. Directed by Katherine Bigelow who would later win a oscar for The Hurt Locker. Also The Color Purple
Maybe y'all watch too many comic book movies. lol
No one’s been named Nellie since Nellie…🤣🤣🤣 SUBSCRIBED!!!!
Haha thanks for watching!
So glad you got to see this!
Boys on the Side is an underrated Whoopi movie. Mary Louise Parker and Drew Barrymore are the co stars.
Besides Sister Act I love Jumping Jack Flash and burglar.
U 2 are freaking adorable. Love your relationship and energy. Great reaction! New subscriber rewatching game of thrones with you 💙💙💙💙.
Yay!!!! Thank you for the amazing comment and thank you for watching
