I don't know what is happening in this particular case, but some substances has different colour in solid and dissolved form, because the molecules interacts with the solvent molecules in complex ways. For example iodine is a dark grey or metallic-looking solid, but a solution with ethanol becomes purple and a solution with water becomes brown. Maybe something similar is going on here?
I am loving your videos! Going through all of them. This one was extremely interesting and now I must hunt down a few more inks! Thank you for sharing. BTW, your printing & handwriting is superb!

I will throw shade on Cali Teal all day long! 😂 The crusties (ink boogers?) are what drive me nuts! 😡 Just when you think you've cleaned up.... I find it on something else
Best album ever! I guess I'm old. lol Tried a sheen ink once, never again. Opened the bottle, filled one pen about a year ago. Still finding stains on my desk. I believe the ink wants to escape the bottle. Blackstone Sydney Harbour blue.
Must be like a cousin of California Teal or something. My other ones are petty good, but I swear California Teal must be what they use as the ink bombs inside the money bags to tag the bank robbers.
Great video some great inks. Have managed to procure November Rain a very rare sheening ink, by Diamine. Quite excited to see how this turns out. Quite a fan of sheening inks. I use Cult Pens Diamine Philip which is one of my staples. Majestic Blue by Diamine on the wish list. Didn’t realise so much cleaning involved. KWZ sheening inks particularly number 1 looks good. Apart from the Platinum brand wouldn’t use sheening inks in a prestige brand of pen. And certainly not a piston or lever filler. Thanks again. D
Thank you for your reply. Will be wary and clean regularly. Definitely better with a cartridge converter. Diamine Midnight Blue has similar properties and is the same price as Majestic Blue. A nice semi sheening ink. One of my faves.
You missed out on Organic Studios Nitrogen, I hear it never leaves you, even with an empty bottle. Little bits linger everywhere! But Diamond Skulls and Roses is supposed to be another good sheener.
Pink Floyd of course! That was wicked looking at the valleys in the ink as if it was a lava rock as you said. Do you think the crust that forms is a powder that dries on top of the ink that gives it the sheen, or would it be in liquid but dries in a rocky state?
I "believe" this is the original powder used to make the ink which is then mixed with water & other stuff. When it dries on top of the page VS being absorbed, it dries & forms these crystalline structures which produce the sheen effect
Super fun to play with, but think I will keep them away from some of my vintage pens. Or if I do, don't leave the ink in them for very long. That parallel is perfect for these inks😍
You answered questions about sheen. KWZ machine 2 is a pain in the neck to dry indeed. Better #1 both messy. Krishna Paakesha is the only sheen ink that sheens on Any paper (at least on the 20 diff I have from tomoe $35 to composition books $1). New challenge: shimmering inks...how to clean feeds???? Nightmare! ; Iron Gall inks why they ruin nibs, feeds, sacs; how long is too long to leave them in an unused pen or even a used pen with constant use? Converters, how to grease or lubricate its parts (specialy those that cannot be dissasbled) without getting into feed? Why ink just slides out like waterfall? Thank you🥰👍😍

Biggest thing you need is a wider line that lays down lots of ink. I used the Pilot Parallel which puts down insane ink. For a economical pen you could get a Jinhao with a bent nib. Or a lower cost flex pen such fountain pen revolution or Noodlers
Cool vid idea! Now I know not to put this stuff in anything I care about hahahaha just imagining that going on inside a pen 🥵. Crazy how it works though!
I would be careful with vintage pens for sure. But think it's ok with most modern pens, but don't leave it in for weeks at a time or a pen that's prone to drying up.
