2 things, Trevor: 1. Your laughter MAKES every show you do 2. The sound effects added a ton to this! Super interesting game and thank you for showcasing it so clearly and with plenty of entertainment!
Five parsecs was my first ever tabletop game, discovered it looking for board games, made paper standees with some spare cardstock and played for a couple months. So glad you're doing this series!
The random table roles flowed together to create an interesting story, kinda like a lost episode of Firefly, great enthusiastic narrative during the action phase, very entertaining to watch 😊 I will be hopefully picking up this book in the near future
I'm pretty certain that Jenna, being a political agent, got lost in some James Bond action with a hot contact (hence the rumor she picked up). These little things actually bring a lot of rpg vibes into games - which to me is the most important thing. Thanks for this series - I just got myself a copy of this game. I actually play it on a vtt as I really don't want to start collecting even mor miniatures.
First time seeing your channel, and I am extremely impressed. I picked up 5 Parsecs earlier this year, but I havent had a chance to crack it open yet. Your presentation inspired me to start rolling up a team and diving in. I love the way you take your acting and creativity and blast it into your gaming with full force. Your multi-camera setup is perfect to get a full board view. Your narration of events, the thought processes of all of the characters, and the explanation and reminder of the rules while playing is top notch. I'll be tuned in for the future battle reports. Great Job!
I don't normally watch people playing a game, but your enthusiasm in playing was contagious. I am making a set of characters so I can play this game. I have had the book for a while now so.... Great video love watching you play and improvise the story on the fly. Fun to watch.
First game play video of yours I’ve seen. And I’ve got to say it was very well done. You bring real energy to the game that I don’t think I could manage all by myself in front of a camera. Great job, I’ll definitely be watching more of your videos. Thank you for sharing the play through with us.
I just stumbled upon your video in 2024 this is far one of the best battle reports I've ever seen I love the enthusiasm I love the special effects and you made me a subscriber
Ahh, Jennifer Walker, the heiress to the Walker family ship fortune. "Why walk when you can fly, with Walker" I believe the slogan went. The cloud of her family name hangs heavy, since her family pays well to maintain the foothold over local shipping sales and lanes. Often those who fall on the wrong side of the Walker family politics end up with regrettable ends. This mission was her first chance to prove not only her independence, but also her desire to do good in the galaxy. She has a lot to lose, and her reputation to gain. Bring on the adventure! I made up my own story based on her starting rolls ;-) PS, this gave me an idea to build a crashed ship incense holder. It will hold both types. The small triangle ones in the cockpit, and the long stick inside the body. Smoke will be coming out of both ends. Now, 3D print or something more traditional?
For no real reason I recently made a space ship crew, just the characters, no system. This game system looks perfect for actually bringing them to life (and hopefully not death).
Great retelling of your story. Loved the split between working through the rule book, then playing out the scenario with miniatures, then the follow-up. So impressed, I bought the rule book because of your video. Thanks.
I’ve only played fantasy ttrpgs so I’ve been in the mood to try out a space adventure themed game and this one looks like a lot of fun so I think I’ll buy it and give it a try. Looking forward to more episodes!
Such an amazing game. Glad you made this, Trevor. I've been on the Five Parsecs bandwagon for a while now. Love it, love it, love it. Also, Five Leagues From The Borderlands is an amazing fantasy version of the game, with a low fantasy vibe.
This is a great first look at Five Parsecs from Home. I can't wait to see the next one, and am curious if, in spite of being designed to be specifically for solo play it can be expanded to multiple players on the same "team"
Yes sir, rules as written you split the crew between players. We've tested it with multiple crews on a bigger battlefield and that works as well, though players working cooperatively together weaken the AI. Now if you had one malicious fellow controlling the opposing forces.... 😈
Hi Trevor!, loved the video!. When you mentioned that you were going to try 5 Parsecs i did some research and loved the type of game it is. After 10 campaign turns i must say that is really fun to play and make connections between the events that the crew get themselves into. Will be waiting for Turn 2!.
This pushed me to order the game book and start looking around my house for possible locations to set up a new table or desk for gameplay. Your videos are a great treat and thanks a ton for making them and providing me with great insight with your reviews. Cheers!
Extremely enjoyable. Wow what a change of pace. You do miniatures gaming so well, perfect mix of narrative table top wargaming and role play... love it love it love it.
Howdy Trevor, loved the episode. As some folks have already noted, the ship prop is definitely a model of a Tarsus-class Merchant Scout from Wing Commander Privateer (the one you start the game with, if anybody remembers thirty-year-old video games). Some folks over on the Wing Commander fan community Discord would like to know where you got it; they're always excited to see anything WC these days...
Glad to watch you again. I haven't stopped by since watching a D&D solo you did. Five Parsecs is so much fun. I love all the planning and watching your crew mature. And a great excuse to buy new minis and make terrain. Thanks for the entertainment.
This was a blast! Vine blowing the head off the berserk Abdandoned at point blank as it tried to charge him was quite the cinematic moment. So far, the crew seem quite the calculating and coordinated mercenaries; great "spec-ops" vibes. The undercity gang scientist could become the Furious's black market doctor: surgery and drugs. And the whole time, the covert agent was in some solo story development arc in the big city - it could even be that it was SHE who uncovered the old map while the rest of the crew was on mission!!
Thanks for covering this game, I like it a lot. I’d like to hear what you think about some other small games that I love. I’ll comb through your vids and see what you have.🤘
This was a great episode. I always enjoy seeing these miniature skirmish games because I could never really have the space or time to play them myself. It would've been nice I think to maybe just have a minute of Kale and Vinn having that heartfelt conversation in the Med-bay about the previous mission just so we could start to get to know some of these characters a little bit more in the story sense (even if this is more on the battle side) just so we're rooting for them to roll well to defeat their rivals and accomplish their goals and things but I think that will also just happen by itself as we play more missions.
An excellent start to, what I am sure will be, an great campaign. I’ve seen Five Parsecs from Home but this is the first time I’ve seen it played. It looks really good and I can’t wait to see the next episode.

This was amazing, I love 5 Parsecs from Home and I really enjoyed watching you bring this to life. I also loved the crashed starship setup and the flickering, smoking blaze was a delightful effect. I'm eagerly looking forward to the next campaign turn. When you were talking about what the VIP found in the ship I thought it was going to be the thing that caused the crew to go crazy, maybe some kind of ancient alien tech that could be the harbinger of a new type of planetary invasion.

Other than that, I appreciate being able to see this game in action to see what it's all about.
