I bought a 3W Laney mini amplifier a while ago to use with my Risa solid uke. It also has an app full of presets which works very nicely, and the amp cost less than £40, so features like that can be found at the lower end too.
I haven't used a laney for a long time but they certainly used to be very good so I am not surprised.
Very cool! I am a big fan of Pignose amp (great grunge sound). And my new Aroma Acoustic Amp, which is higher up the price scale, but perfect for the clean crisp sound I'm aiming for. I am very tempted by the Orange 😎
Haven't used either of those. Going to do a bit of research now!
I have the Yamaha THR30IIA (bigger version, acoustic) and it sounds awesome, and battery power v.useful. I’m sure the smaller acoustic version would also be great but just quieter. Looks cool too with the backlit speaker grille. I also have a 60W AER acoustic amp that is quite a bit more expensive but still TBH prefer the sound of the Yamaha unless I need more volume.
The volume will also be sacrificed when amps get smaller, but these ones really impressed us - will be doing a more indepth review of the Yamaha soon
I've tried the flight tiny 6 and think it's amazing for the size and price. Also, I think the wood finish is great quality
yeah its a lovely sound and very nice looking too. great bit of kit
There’s nothing as good for £40 in our opinion
No one ever seems to remember the Roland mobile AC, intended for acoustic, with its killer chorus setting.
We’ll have to have a look at the Roland!
Ah! Plug me up!
I play a Yamaha THR 5 A, which is absolutely great for amplifying an ukulele!
Yeah the Yamaha is definitely my favourite. I also have a THR10ii which is an absolute beast! KD
Is it good for rhythm playing or strumming on a uke?
@@lowercentenary absolutely!
Yamaha's lookin good
The Yamahas are fantastic amps, definitely my favourite out of the 5 here. KD
I’ve had my thr5 a Yamaha replaced 3 times it will not run on battery power alone …Yamaha say it’s not faulty great on mains power but no good to take out …
Good to know! Obviously our review is just an 'out of the box' review, without taking into account long term use.
Could ukulele work on positive spark normally?
Yes it works perfectly with the amp and software
Does the kustom pa 50 not fall into this category?
There's countless other amps that weren't included in this video, and that work just as well - but we had these amps available to us. We're not necessarily saying 'buy this exact one', but more looking at the price point and the features, which can then be compared to other brands and models! :)
I got Uke babe

😂there all guitar amps.except the flight tiny6 it is the best for ukes and mandolins or any piezo instruments.
There's not many amps solely for ukuleles, but these are all small, so are just as portable as a ukulele (with some of them able to fit in the front pocket of a uke case!)
Go too small on speaker dimensions and you are NEVER going to get good tone
I do agree, however the Yamaha and the Positive Grid both have sounds that are way bigger than they should have considering their relatively small speaker size.
