SWEET! I remember that Sine-Off ad! Incredible doesn't begin to describe it. SIGNOFF! Looks like Hardy Rawls (the Pete & Pete "Dad" who appeared in tons of 80sCommercialVault's ad breaks) leads off in the Kikkoman ad. Foghorn Leghorn for KFC and John Cleese shilling coffee is just EPIC. That Rice Cake falsetto sure wasn't.
@TheTaergy Sometimes you REALLY have to ignore date stamps. The promos found elsewhere on the tape made dating this pretty easy. There's also a Safeway ad in Vol. 106 (From the same tape) that says "Offer ends 2/17/87".
No cat would eat that much food in the KalCan commercial (2:15). Then they replace it with a clean plate, as if the cat finished it. Thanks for the video!
The message of these commercials is better, I guess, than the ones today. Companies don't bother trying to convince you of their quality so much as of their trendiness.
@blugreen123 Seemed to me the 80s was when a lot of national food and agriculture boards started pitching particular types of food to boost the particular industry. "The power of cheese", "Beef---it's what's for dinner", "Real" milk and dairy ads, "Pork---the other white meat", and, of course, the above butter ad.
0:00--"Give 'em all a little pat of butter!" and 5:48--"Sound of for Sine-Off--Sine-Off!" Two of those simple but catchy jingles that made 1980's commercials so great. What ever happened to 2:01 Kal-Kan pet foods, 4:02 Campbell's Home Cookin' soups, and 4:32 Shield soap? Speaking of which, as an old-time rock and roll fan, I love the music in the commercials for Shield and 5:03 Quaker Rice Cakes. 2:32--Wow; Foghorn Leghorn from Looney Tunes! Looney Tunes fans everywhere should be happy because as of 2021, they are on Me TV. I agree with another comment that it's kind of ironic to see Foghorn Leghorn promoting KFC. 3:02--I think Maxwell House still makes Master Blend coffee, but it's hard to find in some areas these days, and the "Master Blend" name is nowhere near as prominent on the label. 4:47--I have to admit it; I'm one of those people who thought the "Ring around the collar" slogan for Wisk was funny at first but quickly wore thin.
Ugh, that's not Kevin Kline...it's John Cleese...as noted in the description. Also, Monty Python was the name of a comedy troupe, and not a name applied to anybody in it.
@Libraloco73 I can't help but think of that old Saturday Night Live sketch where the cartoon chicken spokesman narrated his own death, cooking, and consumption.
Announcing on national TV that your baby granddaughter might just be the President one day sure puts a lot of pressure on that kid. "Fame, Fortune & Romance" looks like the most boring interview show ever. They couldn't even be bothered to come up with a decent title! I've had my share of rice cakes. Trust me, they're not worth singing about. Looks like some ad exec had just watched Private Benjamin. "You get sexy clothes! And you get sexy clothes! Everyone gets sexy clothes!"
My cat would prefer Kal Kan because she looks just like the Kal Kan cat! Except I can't tell what color the cat's eyes are. Maybe she thinks the Kal Kan cat is her great-great-great grandmother or grandfather.
Ok Foghorn Leghorn telling me to go to a place that kills and feeds chickens by the millions to humans is kinda creepy. And how does he know it tastes so good?
imagine advertising butter, not a particular brand, just...butter 3:40 pure 80s 5:45, they had to be sure to have a pseduo Asian looking person to prove Kikkoman's "authenticity" "sexy clothes on the next Oprah Winfrey show" does that mean she would be wearing sexy clothes? i'm frightened, yet intrigued the Gorton's guy is kinda cute
Lol at Megan the crazy cat lady in the Kal Kan commercial. Does anyone else find it disgusting that her cat food is just thrown in the pantry with her cooking oils and spices? I realize it's canned, but give it its own little area AWAY from the human food.
If Miss Ellie says it's good, well it must be damn good soup!
Another walk down memory lane. Oh, thank you so much for putting these up. I always look forward to these uploads.
That's Barbara Bel Geddes (Miss Ellie on "Dallas") in the Campbell's Home Cookin' Soup commercial.
Well I'm 105 volumes in and the only thing watching these old commercials from the 80's have done is make me miss the 80's even more!!

John Cleese is AWESOME!!!
@TheTaergy Sometimes you REALLY have to ignore date stamps. The promos found elsewhere on the tape made dating this pretty easy. There's also a Safeway ad in Vol. 106 (From the same tape) that says "Offer ends 2/17/87".
I like how there's practically no grease on the fish stick plate
No cat would eat that much food in the KalCan commercial (2:15). Then they replace it with a clean plate, as if the cat finished it.
Thanks for the video!

And Kevin Kline, Monty Python, is in the Master Blend coffee commercial.
That "Best Foods Mayonaise" commercial was creepy for some reason lol that family really loved their mayonaise lol
5:48 my favorite ad.
Announcing on national TV that your baby granddaughter might just be the President one day sure puts a lot of pressure on that kid.

8:00 - LOOK its "E" from Entrourage! Hilarious!
@Ribelin2000 Such an epic day for moviegoers everywhere.
February 13th, 1987-the day Over the Top and Mannequin came out.
2:02 today she owns over 30 cats
My cat would prefer Kal Kan because she looks just like the Kal Kan cat! Except I can't tell what color the cat's eyes are. Maybe she thinks the Kal Kan cat is her great-great-great grandmother or grandfather.
he's been a cannibal for over 20 years now..
@TheTaergy Actually I think that says 1986.

@Libraloco73 Uh, Foghorn is telling the chicken hawk that he should go to KFC so that he won't eat him.
