- Learn primitive fire starting techniques with me!
Starting a fire from sparks using rocks is one of the most valuable primitive fire starting methods. In this video, I teach you how to identify spark creating rocks that are commonly found in nature.
I explain how rocks like flint, chert, and quartz have properties that allow them to produce sparks when struck against hardened steel. I show examples of rocks that work well and how to prepare them.
I also show you a trick to figure out if your rock is the proper hardness for this technique.
Learning to harness the natural fire starting properties of rocks gives you a reliable way to start fires without matches or tools. With sparks from stones, you can stay warm and survive in the wilderness using this ancient bushcraft skill.

Hello, Great video. This is my first-time watching. I have to say, not only was I impressed by your skills. I was also impressed by your looks! You are Fire 😍I am looking forward to watching your next video.
Well thank you 🥰❤️🔥 and welcome! I will be focusing on survival fire videos for a stretch, next one up is how to make char cloth. This is a new series for me. Glad you are here!
I find that I have to strike my steel fairly hard to get a viable stream of sparks. I also prefer your method of striking my steel with the stone, the bigger the better. Quartz is difficult to find a good piece because a trashy impure piece will shower particles instead of sparks, all over your charred material, inhibiting an ignition. Flint or chert can also have impurities but it doesn't crumble like bad quartz.
Yeah, I did struggle to get the sparks, getting any sparks at all was a serious triumph for me, I had to try pretty hard! And you also have to really find the perfect piece, I had to shatter the flint and many pieces didn't work until I found the one that did. Overall, not an easy task. I prefer my ferro rod any day!
That chest sparked my atttention
The emblem that you found belongs to a 1960 to 1964 Chevy Corvair Monza 2dr coupe and a four door sedan. There were a rear engine air cooled car made from 1960 to 1969.😀
Very cool and you are the first person to identify that! It is in my vintage junk collection!

would rock-on-rock have worked here or not? since civilisation might collapse and we might not have steel
Rock on rock will not work, however there will be plenty of steel remaining post SHTF and also I suggest having a steel blade or two as backup.
so should we light fire during evening and night time or there where there is no light ?? pls reply
I only light fires for when I am needing to cook or to get warm. Fire does attract people and animals so best to use it minimally.
@@RusticSkillsI just wanted to know how to light fire so that if one day I dont have anyone by my side I dont have money atleast I can survive
So when you get the rocks to spark you catch the spark in some very dry tinder. I am planning to make a third video in this series to get the actual fire going!
@@RusticSkills the sparks actually making the fire didn't work yet?
Nice angle lmaoo
