Your owl is gorgeous, dressed in her gears or feathers. I too, enjoy the occasional steam punk project. The last one I made was a shallow box, with a lid, so a friend could store playing cards in it. Using the Tim Holtz gear dies, I created "crusty rusty" gears with crackle paste, paint and a bit of liquid metals, toned any shine down with dark ink. It was a fun project so I really really really enjoyed watching this!

Great tip on the use of nuvo drops to make screws. In the past, I've only used them as a substitute when I'm out of enamel dots. Steampunk journaling is so fun... the possibilities are endless.

This is a masterpiece! I love that you made the owl half mechanical! It reminds me of a book I read recently -- Mechanica. It's a retelling of the Cinderella story except the young girl's mother was an inventor and left the girl her workshop, which she comes into when she is 16. Also, she does not marry the prince but rather becomes friends with him and becomes an inventor. One of her main inventions is a mechanical horse that brings her glass carriage to the ball, which is part of an inventors' conference sponsored by the palace! There is lots of magic in the story as well. It's a young adult book, or is intended to be, I don't know if it is translated into Greek, but your daughter may like it! The author is American but living and teaching in Ireland (and has applied for Irish citizenship). There is a sequel that I have bought but have not yet had time to read. Anyway, I love the owl because the animals in the book are mechanical but come to life! I always wish I had thought of your creations!!

I love it! Thank you for the creative inspiration using more items from the amazing Sir Vagabond collection! I wasn't going to order the grey boards and rice papers in the collection because I didn't know what I would do with them. But now, I see they can be used as backgrounds and focal points to make great projects, too. I am patiently waiting for the Sir Vagabond papers, grey boards and rice papers to be restocked so I can order them. Have a beautiful weekend Vicky!

Steam punk is the best! Just an FYI though. You would be better off mounting this in a shadowbox, that way it keeps dust free all the time. Thanks for sharing! Love the Vagabond sets, I have lady Vagabond.
Thank you! Some of my projects did end up in a shadow box but then I removed the glass. Turns out I don't like the glare of the glass although I know it keeps the dust out. .

I never thought that 8 liked steampunk but it’s growing on me but since I love Owls, needless to say, I 🖤🖤this!!!
I am not big on steampunk either but it’s fun to try other styles from time to time and get out of my comfort zone.... I see it as a crafting exercise or a challenge!

helps me while in lockdown... can't see extended family, can't go out with friends, shops are closed.... at least we have crafting! When life finally goes back to normal I will take a break from crafting for a couple of weeks and just enjoy being with friends and family I guess.
