    Trimming also helps to maintain vertical shape, Initially I cut it quite low to the substrate to create branching
    The next trim (a few weeks later) I cut just before it wants to bend, new branches give structure, and continue to do so to get a bush that stands up with stability.
    This way you can simultaneously have carpeting glosso with a bush of attentive rotala.

      I like to trim the apical bud off of creeping stems to get them to send axial shoots upwards.

    This video is next level! So helpful and informative for aquascaping. I also enjoyed the looping background music which sounds like a town theme from a retro JRPG xD

    Very nice voice. I learnt something as suspected why my glossostima was growing upwards due to a deep tank and using too low a light

    Thank you so much. I was having the same issue but was thinking opposite. Instead of reducing the intensity of the light, I maxed it out. Yes. I'm a newby to this field. The tank was densely planted. Rotala sp green and blood red. Both started crawling @ 50% of the light too. So I'm thinking of doing a full trim and replanting more densely and changing the light intensity to 30%. What do you think about this?
    Thank you so much

    In my tank, Ludwigia repens 'super red' is crawling. I wish I could set up another tank for it to make a bright red iwagumi, perhaps with Alternantheria reineckii 'scarlet temple' in the background.

    How to get rotala HRA to be super red ? I’ve got high light and nitrate limitation. However the rotala is still not red. It was bought emersed , but it’s been 6 weeks already.

      Full Spectrum Light intesity... High Intensity...
      Full Spectrum is just not Red & Blue... but RGB + UV....
      warm white (3000k + 5000k) is the best... plants love it...
      don't be tricky about blue light information or any... just use any light contain UV... but i suggest the Full Spectrum for not too artificial...

    • @jay_vidzz2801
      @jay_vidzz2801 4 роки тому +3

      My suggestion is high safe levels of co2 and good lighting

      Official WASABI Moderator: Good lighting (full spectrum helps, but not required) coupled with at least 30ppm CO2, good liquid fertilization and good filtration is key. Hope this helps!

    • @uraninite8151
      @uraninite8151 4 роки тому +1

      Also it may take a while of low nitrate to get red.I had issues in previous tanks with rotala hra and other variations not getting color even with nitrate limitation and high light. I think the spectrum makes a difference as I have changed my T5 bulbs to bulbs with more red and blue peaks and it helped with the color even at highish nitrate levels. Also make sure that the plant is healthy and co2 and other nutrients are provided at reasonable levels and that the water is not too hard. It may help to do more frequent water changes to see if you really have low nitrates, sometimes test kits aren’t accurate and also don’t test other forms of nitrogen, these may be increasing plant growth and preventing the red pigment production. By water changing you will reduce all forms of nitrogen, but make sure to keep other levels high enough.
