The combination of modern agriculture and the dedication of local farmers has helped cement California's leading position in the world's agricultural production industry. It is commendable.
My Grandma Was Working At a Tomato Cannery in California in the 1930s. My Family Is in the Midwest States These Days. My Grandpa Was Picking Vegetables and Fruits. They Didn't Keep a Written Down History of This. They Spoke about Whittier and La Habra and Pasadena. So the Details Are Not Very Many. But this Video Made Me Think of Their Own Life Back Then. I'm Here in 2022. In Missouri.
Crop plants maintain a "rhizosphere", or a concentrated area of microbial activity close to the root. The rhizosphere is the most active part of the soil ecosystem because it is where the most readily available food is, and where peak nutrient and water cycling occurs. Microbial food is exuded by crop roots to attract and feed microbes that in turn provide nutrients (and other compounds) to the plant at the root-soil interface where the plants can take them up. Since living roots provide the easiest source of food for soil microbes, growing long lived roots that feed the foundation species of the soil food web as much as possible during the growing season should be a goal of farmers seeking a productive and profitable crop. Roots associated with SWRT membranes have been shown to last all season long, contributing greatly to the improvement of soil quality because they have the nutrients and moisture they need.
Morning Star as a company stinks. They do all the planting and they do all the havesting. All the grower does is care for the plants. What happened to when growers handled planting to harvesting? I've seen Morning Star hold off harvesting a field until all the vines were dead and dried up. This really screws the grower who wants it picked when it is really not when it is over ripe.
"California produces 35% of the world production of tomatoes" LOL, where did you get such nonsense from? the US never been above 6.8% of the world production as in never. China produces at least 40%, followed by India, turkey, pakistan, iran.....
